Well there may always be things created in the future that surpass our current technologies. Or there may be breakthroughs that make us rethink what a "blockchain" even is.

The Petro isn't really cryptocurrency IMO... it's the same old government controlled fiat we want to get away from... but just in a digital form. I guess I wouldn't like a state run cryptocurrency because the govt could track your every purchase.

Basic Questions about Cryptos / Re: How can we make Crypto go viral?
« on: January 13, 2019, 02:41:19 AM »
I think a lot of people don't see the point or purpose of crypto. So really, I think a lot of people will turn to crypto if their economies crash like Venezuela.

I was pretty hopeful that things were turning around at the beginning of the year. But after the huge dump from yesterday it appears we're still verymuch in the midst of a bear market.

The thing is whales keep getting bigger and bigger and people follow their trades. Some of them turn out well but many people panic sell and basically get their crypto stolen from them.

I've never been a fan of hardforks... I guess it give dissenters or people that don't agree with the main vision of the token an outlet. Ethereum Classic and Bitcoin Cash have been fairly successful... but I don't support either one of them.

I hope you're right. The whales are probably waiting for people to panic sell and then just scooping up the cheap crypto.

Don't stress about things that are out of your control. I'd like to think I can predict the ups and downs of the market... but I can't. Many times I make poor decisions or the market drops 10+%... this used to stress me out a ton... but now I try not to stress. It's not worth being in crypto if I'm going to be pulling my hair out. So now I'm a lot happier to be involved in the market.

All Krypto enthusiasts are waiting for this moment, but I think that this will not happen soon because cryptocurrency is hindered by many states that are not yet ready to accept it as the main currency.

I doubt any states will adopt something like Bitcoin as an official or reserve currency. I'd like to see crypto as the currency of international business and commerce that isn't subject to government interference. However, governments want to collect tax money from every transaction their citizens make, so naturally most seem to be anti-crypto :/

Sorting Box / Re: The role of altcoins in the world of cryptocurrency
« on: January 09, 2019, 09:09:32 AM »
What will people trade with Bitcoin... just fiat currencies? That's boring. And many coins are platforms or are doing things that Bitcoin simply cannot do. If I transact with crypto it's almost never with Bitcoin... it's comparatively slow and expensive. If there were more altcoins it'd be even more slow and more expensive.

Crypto really hasn't "made it" in terms of mass adoption or being completely normalized for online merchant transactions... but does that really matter? I mean speculation with HODLing and trading IS actually a use case. I love earning crypto, trading it, lending it, mining/staking it, gambling with it and yes, sometimes buying stuff with it. So even if we're not quite to the "promised land" I still think crypto is really intrinsically useful.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: The better year for crypto is ahead
« on: January 08, 2019, 01:09:12 AM »
2019 is already better than 2018 so I'm very optimistic for this year. I don't think we'll have a crazy bull run but I could see BTC touching $10K

« on: January 08, 2019, 01:03:27 AM »
I think more governments will issue their own cryptocurrencies. And apps built on blockchain will be more common. But it's really hard to say where we're gonna be so far in the future.

I'm more afraid to sell at this point than to hold. I think that the moment I sell some cryptocurrency is probably when the bullrun starts lol

I don't think we can expect any kind of stability until there is mass adoption and the prices are tied to real world items. So there should be less fluctuation when that happens.
