If Bitcoin will survive, altcoins will survive also. I consider altcoins as a team of Bitcoin.  There are a lot of altcoins that are very strong and doing special role in the development of the crypto expansion. They will survive but few altcoins that are basically shitcoins-will die.

There are many altcoins that really present their existence and value based on their products, the volume in the market, the concept, the team, and the marketing. So that they will survive and develop over time. That is why we must be more clever in selecting the right altcoins to have.

In late 2017 ICOs are booming people are investing without any doing some research, not because they support the project but because they want to flip some profits. Many community members have been claiming lately that altcoins are going to die or at least that 90% of altcoins are doomed.
I tend to agree with them that there are many coins and tokens that are pointless and won't survive. Another cathegory are alts with solid foundations but won't manage to fight with their competitors as naturally there are numerous projects with same visions. But if you trust the project you invested in, there is no reason to change your mind just because someone says many altcoins won't succeed.
Do your research and trust only your own judgement, because many ALTCOINS ARE HERE TO STAY!

More than the altcoin types that have been registered and as time goes by they continue to emerge and in my opinion that is the reason why many altcoins die because they cannot compete with new and more attractive newcomers.

Everyone have their opinions and how they see things. We see and view things differently. In my own opinion,  I would say some altcoins won't survive, I think that's a better word but saying altcoins won't survive is not true. Looking at the crypto market and technologies possessed by some altcoins, there are many altcoins that would survive in the long run because of the potentials and they are strong coins.
