Dash Forum / Dash mining profitability in 2018
« on: October 07, 2018, 11:37:59 AM »
Hello everyone,
I'm close to pulling the trigger and pre-ordering an antminer D3 and it would be for the December batch. I'm nervous that mining profitability will drop a ton by the time I'd receive the D3 and I'd be stuck not being able to reach ROI. Currently Dash is around $4k a month profit with the D3 after power costs.

With the increasing difficulty due to more D3s coming online how much should I expect profitability to drop by 2018?

I do realize it can mine other coins as well with the X11 algorithm so that may be an option if Dash isn't profitable anymore.

Dash Forum / BTC vs ETH vs Dash?
« on: October 07, 2018, 11:29:07 AM »
1) Any main differences within them and what's their best strength against each other?

2) As i know block time for BTC is averaging at 10 minute and recently if you sent not enough fees your transaction takes really long time.
I remember i read an article about ETH transaction just take within 15 seconds and the opposite will receive, is that true? I only uses BTC to transact.
How about Dash?

Thanks!

USDT Forum / How does Tether (USDT) really works?
« on: October 07, 2018, 10:28:02 AM »
Hope this is the right section to post my question.

I understand basic concepts of 1 USDT = 1 USD and backed by 1$ in Tether account, but what confuses me is how USDT token really works. All I was able to find was that it uses "omnylayer" and "all transactions of Tether are bitcoin transaction". What I am interested in is following:
1. Does Tether have it's own blockchain or uses Bitcoin Blockchain?
2. What happens if I sell my BTC for Tether, and then Withdraw it? What asset will be in my wallet? BTC? Tether? BTC's marked as redeemable for Tether?
3. When I send Tether to another Tether user, transaction being processed by BTC blockchain, meaning I'm really sending BTC's. Why can't I deposit Tethers as BTCs? Who holds private key that signs tether transactions?
4. How Tethers are being issued? I mean if price of 1 USDT fixed to be 1 $ they have to "print" tethers and follow it's circulation between users. But how the hell is this possible if it all build on top of BTC blockchain.

Anyway - I would be thankful if someone could point me to whitepaper or article, explaining Tether in as much technical details as possible.

USDT Forum / Tether/USDT Security
« on: October 07, 2018, 10:24:24 AM »
The market cap of Tether is around an all-time high, ~ $35 million, #11 overall, and probably will keep increasing. I know there are issues in that it is backed by USD, so they have to maintain physical security, etc.

But what maintains the security of the USDT network, hacking attempts, and so forth? I do not think there is mining like bitcoin mining. Tether layers on top of the bitcoin network using the omni protocol, but does that mean the security can somehow be piggybacked on bitcoin security? Or does it have to do with the number of users on tether, as more ppl use it, the security increases?

Bitcoin Forum / Use Bitcoin in daily life?
« on: October 07, 2018, 09:33:13 AM »
Hi,
Is there anything like this which will help me to use Bitcoin in my daily life. Like we have a map on the app or web. It shows people nearby you that are accepting bitcoin and services. Like someone living nearby Mcdonalds, he will add that i will accept bitcoin and let you eat at Mcdonalds(you pay him bitcoins..he gives cash to you). Same as traveling people nearby you add their services that for which things they can accept bitcoin.

Is there anything like this already.

Bitcoin Forum / Looking for help on a possible bitcoin scam
« on: October 07, 2018, 09:27:47 AM »
Hello community,

I am not new to cryptos but not an expert either, just know my sh...

Recently a member of my family told me he invested money in ripple and BTC
During our talk he briefly told me the name of the website he putted money on... I did not know it. First alarm (i know most of reliable sites)
I immediatly did some researches on it and found it as a very recent website (80 days old) located in a high risk eastern europ country. Second alarm
Looking further i did not find any review, just another person asking in a forum if someone knows about it and an experimented crypto user saying to stay away from unknown site. 3rd signal.
I checked their website and found only piece of crap about cryptos , bla bla bla, not technical at all. An obvious cover. fake app etc

Then I called back immediatly my relative to ask him about how he knew about this site.
He told me they called him directly at home. Then he exchanged with them and decided to invest a big amount by wire transfert. A bank in an eastern europ country... He did complete a few small withdraws just to check the "game" but nothing important in comparison with the money he putted in.

After a more deeper investigation I know this is a scam. Not have a proof yet but we'll know pretty quickly as he is trying to get his investment back or at least a part of it.
Now I think he understood but it took some time.
He was believing buying and selling coins for real on a real platform ( which is not hard to re-create For example to withdraw your money your cant do it on the platform but have to validate it by phone

This smells really really bad to me

I did not involve authorities yet as he is trying to make withdraw .but I dont know really what is the best strategy to use here.

If someone is in this case, or know someone who has been, please dont hesitate to share any advice, experiment or anything.

I will deliver the name of the website as soon as it is safe for my relative to do so (can't wait).

The demand for bitcoin is increasing. Bitcoin has become the foremost way of investment not only for the business owners but also for the job seekers. As per the recent study, almost 30% of Millennials would prefer having a thousand dollars worth of Bitcoin than stocks or bonds.
For the First-Time Investors, it would be a little bit better if they start off with the downside. Bitcoin is much less risky than other cryptocurrencies. Moreover,  a lot of first-time investors who begin with cryptocurrencies have a very limited perception of risk.  Few months back there really hasn't been that many big draw downs in Bitcoin that haven't been immediately reversed and we don't know maybe that same thing is  gonna happen here as well so a lot of them have profits that outweigh their initial investments in a ratio of ten to one meaning that even if the market saw a decline of 80 percent they still would have performed or outperformed by investing in Bitcoins.
