Title: Ignore button and Self-moderated topics
Post by: julerz12 on December 28, 2023, 02:03:19 PM
I asked this on the chat but I forgot to check admin's response about it that it got cleared, so, posting it here instead.

If you're familiar with how Bitcointalk works, these features are pretty helpful on a forum.

Would it be possible to have Ignore button on any account we see? Say you don't like someone's post and don't want to read their posts again; hit the ignore button and you won't see their posts ever again. This would help avoid altercations or violent discussions, etc.  ;D

Self-moderated topics basically allow the poster to moderate his/her own topics; allowing him/her to delete spams or any out-of-topic discussions. Less burden to mods.
The downside is that scammers could also use this to avoid getting called out for their scam posts, so, there's that.

Thoughts? Possible?

BTW, If these are already available and I'm just dumb enough not to notice it, then just ignore this post.  ;D

If I understood correctly, being able to self-moderate should be different from being able to avoid people's post. Well i haven't come across such on this platform or maybe i don't just know about it, but i think it would be awesome to have such features here. We definitely come across some annoying post or comments as they sometimes oppose to our own opinion or goal, instead of issuing out a negative -karma, it would be best to avoid those certain post.

Since we can easily report any form of abuse, spam or plagiarism related, then there shouldn't be any need for this. My thoughts though.

Ignore would be something to consider if the forum starts getting really busy and we start seeing lots of trolling, for now I wouldn't think it to be priority. Self moderated topics IMO would be great as it can help control the spam.

I wouldn't mind seeing the karma separated, seems like it's a reputation based system which is fine, but how can we tell who is or isn't a scammer? If they earned tons of karma in the past then all the sudden decide to scam, it would take awhile to deplete the earned karma. Maybe i'm misunderstanding how it works?

From my test if I clicked -karma the karma score went down 1. If I clicked +karma after, it went up 1 from where it was before i clicked -karma.

I saw the response of the admin before the chat box was cleared. As far as I remember, the response was they would see into it.

I think it would be helpful to have an ignore and self-moderated topics, especially after what happened on your campaign thread. The thread was meant to be focused on the application of interested participants, but instead, it turned into a debate among some users about giving priority to teleported accounts over native users. Wherein they should create a thread in the correct section/board and keep the conversation on-topic.

You have a "Report to moderator" link bottom right of each post. If you think that anything goes definitely wrong you can report it. ???

for the scam part: as it is easy to accuse rightfully or falsely, and easy to manipulate this
best is to report with detailed comment, then the issue is brought to other mods and the user might get a scammer tag

if there are suspicions of scam or spam, but no proof so far, he gets SUS badge

if we are almost sure a user cheated on bounty (multiple accounts), they get cheater badge for all their accounts (or all-1 if clemency is decided):

If I get a SCAM BUSTER, what is its name?

Not a bad sign, right? Only in the past did I often report SCAMs so I was marked like this?

I do not think that going off topic deserves to click the “Report to Moderator” button. This is not a violation to be reported, but rather a comment out of context. Therefore, if there are “self-moderated” topics,  OP will be able to delete off-topic posts without having to report them.

I really miss ignore button in this forum, and not just for other members but for boards.
There are just to many boards for my liking, even after I hidden and collapsed whole sections like NFTs, Further Discussions, Trading & Traders and few others.
I want to ignore many boards in same way like I can do in bitcointalk forum.
For example, I think that Exchange boards should be in Marketplace or similar, not in Cryptocurrency Ecosystem.

There is also option for admins and president to do major change, by deleting and merging boards to make forum cleaner.
