(I know on top of my head that Cardano and IOTA try to challenge Ethereum,
although they still haven't proved much from my understanding?)

I think EOS and bitcoin cash /BCH will be competitor of ethereum. They are very potential and doing well on market in this year.

I also think about eos as the most appropriate to compete in ethereum. Eos can be the next ethereum if there will have a chance.
