If we were to analyze ethereums value as of this writing, you might get to the idea that your suspicion might be happening in the near future. But it is beyond question that it will not happen - ever. In the first place, ethereum has an impressive network along with it's smart contract functions. Not to mention the support of the growing Enterprise Ethereum Alliance with a focal point of finding the best possible ways to improve the technology for dApps.
If i may add, the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) also seek to use Ethereum-based smart contracts to explore deep

Ether price has been declining mostly for two reasons:

I think it will not happen to ethereum, in fact seeing the cryptocurrency market today the price of ethereum is now is now slowly increasing and i believed this is now the start of ETH full recovery.
