well, this is a trick question as it depends on a lot of factors, besides, there are several types of investment to be considered...
I tend to split my portfolio in several levels and allocate a budget for each level. Everyone has to adjust their investment profile to their own context, preferences, possible holding period, etc...
For top coins I like for example tron, ltc, btc, eth, monero
Lately there are some new coins that are showing a lot of promise and are approaching some global issues more effectively, like Veles and Veil.
Veil is maybe one of the higher potential new coins out there as it mixes the best existing privacy technologies (RingCT and Zerocoin) and puts them together into a solid privacy coin with no known holes... and privacy coin market is huge... and they are self funded, with a well known team and working structure...

Nice post!!
You are right on the spot... these are the most imortant aspects, the only things I would add would be a peek on the team and roadmap. Although the team is a bit relative because there are very good projects with anonymous teams, the previewed roadmap and the ability to follow it are important for the project progress...
cheers  ;)

Incentivised Posting / Shill / Re: Can I invest in Altcoins now?
« on: April 18, 2019, 09:32:21 AM »
Seems that the Alt season is here... but remember, nothing is certain in life... and also in crypto ...
Most of the main alt coins are recovering and btc seems to be keeping the 5000 level... so we are entering on a good climate for altcoin fluctuations...
There are also a lot of new coins in the market that are showing very promising features. I've almost quit ICOs as these are to prone to scam and failure... lately I've been focusing in POW projects and giving more importance to those with no premine and a product...

Coins like Zelcash, Veles, and of course, one of my favourite, Veil project... these guys offer a product that merges the best in Monero and Zcash in terms of privacy, no ICO, no Premine, lot's of exchanges, a proven team and a great market to conquer...
worth checking!

That's right, this is common sense... the eggs shouldn't be all in the same basket, not only concerning other investments, but also within crypto... invest in diverse coins, use several wallets, use several exchanges... this way, you'll be reducing the risk
In crypto, it is important to check the field of application of each project and select a few from each field, refining the list while checking team, project details, etc.
I have a few areas/types I usually focus: Dapps platforms, exchanges/wallets, privacy, POW/POS, financial, misc
Lately there are a few new projects worth checking, as they are offering a fresh view / fresh tech solution that is plugging a lot of holes from previous pioneer projects.
Worth noting that on privacy coins I've found Veil project... I was a bit discouraged with privacy coins as on Zcash only 10% of the transactions are actually private and Monero is full-time private, but RingCT has been found to have flaws as it is dependant of the network size/number transactions to provide the mixing in an effective manner. Well, Veil has mixed the two techs, delivering a 2nd generation privacy coin... worth checking Veil project if you don't know it yet...

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Is "Crypto Winter" truly over?
« on: April 17, 2019, 08:44:01 PM »
as much as I would like to take a deep breath and think that the bear market is really gone... I'm not there yet  ;D
As someone already said, the positive behaviour is really nice, but such spikes are not unseen or even rare... we need to give it time to be able to tell if the bulls are really waking up

37
The smell of crypto-ruble is in the air...
Esy to see where it could come handy to ban BTC all over the world and come up with a "different kind of crypto"
But, who knows... who can trust the news?!  ;D

38
I do not agree with the bubble part, or with the statement that the bull run has already started, or that BTC will be replaced soon...
Maybe we are now on a bull trend, prices and volumes are way much healthier, but there is still a long way to go before we can call it bull run...
And BTC replacement... nothing lasts forever, and I feel BTC is falling behind, sitting on the shade of the past success... there are a lot of new alts showing high promises... but I think it is still too early to say that there will be a replacement for btc

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Do You Believe That Bitcoin Price Will Rise Again?
« on: April 14, 2019, 09:48:55 AM »
by now, it has already shown strenght... but I believe there is a lot more to come ... BTC might loose it's crown sometime in the future... but it will not be soon...
Let's just expect the end of the year  ;)

40
I think that there will be a transition period... we are probably already in it... but general adoption will be natural and no one can turn away from it.
Probably, some countries will have their own government cryptocurrencies, or, who knows, maybe we'll be finnaly having a global currency generally accepted... curious to see, but only time will tell

41
I have no doubt that digital money will be the future... but which cryptos? the existing ones? maybe....
It will be easy for the fiat system to create governmental cryptos and just put everyone using them... don't believe they'll be giving away control to the btc holders  ;)
Anyway, there are a few new generation privacy coins that are lining on a very good position to mimic the features we need to find on money... mainly fungibility, auditability, privacy, anonimity...

Projects like Veil offer you a bullet proof privacy with no compromise, the hability to choose the privacy level of each transaction, the hability to stake anonimously, a combined Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake, in order to combine security and distribution, fungibility... indeed a 2nd generation coin, one of the projects that represents a significant evolution on the crypto space...
(besides having no hidden premines...well, no premines at all)  ;)

42
I have been struggling with the same subject. ICOs are going away and even if they weren't, the scam/failure level is so high that it leaves no other choice than to stop supporting... IEOs are much better and give you more assurances, but there is a very limited space for hunters...
lately I've been searching for new projects, with diferent economic models and I think the trick might be on POW/POS coins that don't ask you for money in advance... both ICOs and IEO ask you for money...

Lately one of my favourites is Veil, that uses a hybrid POW/POS consensus system combining security and distribution. No ICO. No premine. Already traded on exchanges. With a working use case.
A different kind of investment that allows for a passive income through staking and unlocks all the potencial that a new generation privacy coin offers...

good luck!

« on: April 07, 2019, 11:49:36 PM »
These last few months I've been wondering about the future of ICOs, it looks poor, and I found myself searching for projects with a different model of funding that is not so prone to scam or easy exits...
There are several recent POS/POW coins that are built with a more solid approach and have a very promising potencial based on all experience learnt on the last couple of years.
One of my favourites is Veil, that uses a hybrid POW/POS consensus system combining security and distribution. No ICO. No premine. Already traded on exchanges. With a working use case.
A different kind of investment that allows for a passive income through staking and unlocks all the potencial that a new generation privacy coin offers...
People investing in ICOs offering countless tokens that have almost no use or that are just coying what others have already done, continuously exposing themselves to scammers... these people should definitely consider learning a bit more about this type of project...

What do you think about private coins? Now begins the trend for private coins, sharding, and so on. Since privacy is now really under threat.

Privacy is a very important matter for everyone, people just forgot about it while posting their life away on social networks... ignorance has brought us here and it is time for people to relise the true lack of privacy we live in these days. People still believe that setting your profile to "private" is the same as closing your drapes...
For me, privacy coins that achieve fungibility and allow for compliance will esily turn into an accepted global form of money

45
There is a whole new generation of privacy coins that is overcoming some of the major flaws of the older competitors and offering a solid and flexible private asset.

What exactly are those flaws that Veil is overcoming?
Is it more private than Monero?
Does Veil has something more to offer than Dash which is also widely accepted like Bitcoin?
It would be better if you could provide a comparison.

By combining technologies, Veil offers full time privacy and also anonymity. The hybrid POS/POW system makes the project decentralized, secure and in my oppinion both solid and flexible.
Besides, with support for the Dandelion protocol makes it nearly impossible to trace a transaction back to its source node on the network.
In my oppinion, this one is part of the new generation of privacy coins

Why the mainstream private coins are not my favourites?
On Zcash, only 10% of the transactions are actually private because it is not private by default, nevertheless Zerocoin protocol, provides superior anonymity.
Monero is full-time private, but RingCT, however, based on sophisticated mixing, has been surpassed in terms of strength of anonymity by advanced cryptographic methods. Monero blockchain is also terribly heavy, facing scalibility problems.

With Dash you need to trust your privacy to the masternodes that mix the transactions, there is not much more to say...

A true private coin needs to be scalable, easy to use and as private and anonymous as a dollar bill

Thanks. I still a lot in my plate right now but this got me curious in Veil. It's been added to my "For research" list. If you can provide a link for a start, I'll highly appreciate it.

:D  sure thing, it has also been resting on my "research" list for some time. Still haven't finnished reading about it though... it is a very interesting approach and in my oppinion, it has great potencial...

Link for the website: https://veil-project.com

Would supply you also with links for Btt, but not sure if I can post this here... PM me if you need them

cheers
