We can only hope that the donation will contribute to the realization of some new ideas, although I wonder how much can actually be done with so much money? Of course, for an ordinary person it is a large amount, but for some big things (projects) it may still be too little considering that those who fight against privacy have unlimited funds.

In addition, OpenSats seems to support so many project[1][2]. So i expect it's only enough to make those project keep running and maintain most important feature.

However, Jack has shown that he is much more generous than some others, and maybe this will encourage some others to be a little more generous.

Yeah, let's hope it'll encourage other people to make donation.

Jameson Lopp blog also mention some people working on testnet4, although so far i only find PR about fixing PoW difficulty[1]. And i just realize some people angry about testnet3 plan to be reset, even though actually developer simply create testnet4 network and end support for testnet3. That makes Jameson Lopp speculation about testnet3 attacked by BSV folks seems plausible.

--snip--
If binance listed tBTC, the price would skyrocket as it is better than many altcoins lol

It's certainly possible since they used to list Ordinal-based token and there's speculation they plan to list Rune-based token as well[2].

Jack Dorsey Commits $21 Million to Bitcoin Development Efforts

Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter (now X), donated $21 million to OpenSats, a non-profit organization, through his #startsmall initiative.

This donation is part of his broader support for Bitcoin and decentralized social media, viewing Bitcoin as integral to the internet... Read more here.

It's really big amount compared with $100K by tether and $3.6M by CoinBase. I think it's also worth 100% of the donation goes to Bitcoin development, since they have separate funds/donation for operational task. Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

I will refer you to this post: https://blog.lopp.net/griefing-bitcoin-testnet/

This is where Jameson Lopp demonstrates how he managed to amplify so many transactions on testnet in order to show people what kind of problem or vulnerability he has. He is not finished apparently.

So while I definitely disapprove of all the testnet trading and airdrops, it's all very brittle and easily falls apart when testnet blocks are accelerated.

So he finally write a blog about his action. I just know that there are 3 places to trade tBTC. It's also crazy some people/group intentionally make tBTC valuable, while intentionally ignoring known weakness on testnet network.

General Discussion / Re: What tablet do you own?
« on: May 06, 2024, 12:34:08 PM »
I don't own any tablet. I also find tablet is in weird position since many smartphone have almost 7 inch screen, while chromebook (or other cheap laptop) has 10 inch screen or bigger.

I decided to upgrade to the samsung s9 ultra tablet as it has a 14 inch screen.

I expect I may like the 14 inch tablet it should come on may 2

14 inch? How heavy is that compared with average 14 inch laptop?

EU so quickly follow US action this time. I also wonder what counts as "tools that enable anonymity" in eyes of EU. Without clear definition, wallet which support using Tor connection could be covered.

All that they are doing will probably discourage part of the users who will give up investing in cryptocurrencies, while the rest will be treated as potential criminals in every transaction they want to make.

Or at least they want force people to invest on cryptocurrency through 3rd party. After all, Bitcoin ETF already exist on some Europe country.

First of all, you probably should've posted this thread on "Incentivised Posting / Shill" or "Other Popular Cryptos / Coins "

But Green Bitcoin thing is trying to sound different, I don't know if I'm the only one thinking about it this way.

Aside from what i said below, 50% supply allocated for presale sounds concerning.

They call it "Gamified Green Staking" and promise some seriously high rewards.

Attempt to "gamify" an investment makes people become less careful, so it doesn't sound positive to me. And it seems they claim to be "green" since they use PoS, which has been done by many altcoin.

Crypto Wallets / Re: Wasabi wallet shutting down Coinjoin
« on: May 04, 2024, 10:34:06 AM »
Some people criticized Wasabi, other criticized Samourai wallet, both sides claimed that the other one is working with regulators and analytics companies.
And now we don't have functional Coinjoin anymore, that really sucks   :P

As reminder, JoinMarket still exist. But who knows if government aim joinmarket's developer or operator.

Trezor hardware wallet is also dropping support for Coinjoin on June 1st, and that is no surprise for me after their partner Wasabi wallet done the same thing few days ago.
https://twitter.com/Trezor/status/1786126207924252979

I guess even Trezor don't want take risk by running their own WabiSabi CoinJoin coordinator.

besides I have to use VPN as it is getting images directly from twitter via some API i guess and twitter is ban in our country due to political pressure.re?
You can change your DNS or use DNS encryption too in the future, especially if you don't have access to a good VPN. It is quite easy to set up and there is open-source software for that, some browsers have options to change DNS too if you don't want to download anything. I don't think they will fix it since it is a problem on Twitter's end, or more accurately your country's ISP. CMIIW.

Using different DNS or encrypted DNS wouldn't help if that government very serious to perform censorship though. They'd just obtain list of IP owned by Twitter and ask ISP to block connection to those IP.

Even without checking the video, it's obvious you're lying. You need regular computer or smartphone to run internet browser, which means that website use either CPU or GPU to perform mining. Pratically, you cannot mine Bitcoin using either CPU or GPU. So that means CryptoTab is either a scam or actually mine altcoin.

I remember reading it some time ago. While i find it's more complex than LN, the promise of non-interactive seems promising which means regular/non-technical can avoid relying on 3rd party custodial or watchtower. I might try it once GUI wallet is available (currently only CLI wallet is available) and there are places (on mainnet/signet) to perform test.

And it prove their controversial blacklist on their coordinator isn't really effective. Anyway, i'd like to mention that without controvesial CoinJoin and coordinator, Wasabi Wallet is fairly decent wallet. I said that since use Tor by default, implement BIP 157 (which allow retrieve relevant block from node privately) and automatically connect to your own node (if you run one on same device).

Bitcoin News & Updates / Re: Roger arrested
« on: May 03, 2024, 10:33:30 AM »
I don't know whether Roger Ver actually do something wrong, so let's see what will he do in defense.
I am impressed how come this guy was free all those years after scamming so much people with that bitcoin cash (which is neither bitcoin nor cash)

He is a big scammer imo. He could have created his fork, but he didn't need to call it the real bitcoin and use bitcoin.com  to spread lies about it etc..

I was talking whether he actually perform tax fraud or not. But when we're talking about his BCH promotion and bitcoin.com, he's definitely was in wrong. After all, he trick people into buying BCH when people think they buy BTC. In addition, there were some complain that people send BTC to BCH address or BCH to BTC address.

44
If some developer actually decide to create testnet4, i expect there'll be change on block reward/supply reward. Otherwise, troll or abuser would mine early to obtain 50 tBTC/block in order to sell it or spam testnet4 later.

Judge Richard Jones told Zhao that there were a number of mitigating factors in his sentencing, including that he had cooperated with law enforcement.
I'm really curious if after 4 months he will just go underground and stop every social media interaction, much like Jack Ma did when China got angry at him.
Time will tell, either way, there was no chance he would face the maximum prison term, after all, he came willingly to the US to be prosecuted.

US government is less authoritarian than China government, so i doubt it's happening. And i don't even remember CZ insult US government directly. So i expect he'll back active on social media.

This is the kind of sentence that you'll get if you fully cooperate with the US, this is like a slap in the wrist and it's like CZ goes on a vacation, I don't know if this is a bad precedent for people who do money laundering.
After CZ finishes his prison sentence, he could go back to managing his businesses but with restrictions as the government will watch him because of his record.

But i wonder how many people who do money laundry actually can receive light prison time and small fine (compared to what they earned).
