Ethereum Forum / Ethereum turned 6 - Happy Birthday!
« on: August 02, 2021, 03:07:47 PM »

(according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethereum)

Keep on going! 8)

Isn't that what's happening right now with most of these L2 solutions?
yes, at least in the ethereum space. But I'm not too familiar with whats happening in the bitcoin space.
Have you used something similar already with BTC? do you have a link?

Flow would be like:
  • install altcoin wallet (e.g. MetaMask)
  • send BTC to the cross-chain-bridge which deposits wBTC (wrapped BTC) to your altcoin wallet (cost: normal bitcoin tx fees)
  • click on a link that lets you swap your wBTC to altcoin (cost: ~0.5 cents)
  • use service with altcoin (cost: zero, sponsored tx fees)
Would you use this? If not, why?

Polygon MATIC Forum / Re: Favorite dapps on Polygon?
« on: July 31, 2021, 10:25:26 PM »
I never joined any Dapps in Polygon. is this safe? What are the benefits for us. Because I heard some Dapps were hacked
Polygon itself is safe, as it does checkpoints to ethereum. The problem with these DeFi dapps that got hacked is that the smart contracts they use are very complex and even some which had a proper audit had vulnerabilities that got exploited.
If you look at https://www.rekt.news/leaderboard/
most of the hacked projects seem to be on BSC though.

Transaction fees are very low on Polygon because they use PoS with Plasma. A standard erc-20 token transfer costs just around 0.0002$

The definitive solution (London hard fork) will be implemented on the Ethereum network between August 3 and 5. That's what Tim Beiko, an Ethereum developer, has said on his blog. If you want more information you can find it at this link: https://blog.ethereum.org/2021/07/15/london-mainnet-announcement/

Starting August 5, transaction fees will be much cheaper, according to information from developers. Hope to see if it really works as well as they say.
thanks for the link.
I'm looking forward to this too. But I'm a little skeptical about the magnitude of its impact.
It sure will improve things, but for the definitive solution we still will have to wait for Ethereum 2.0 (for which London is helping paving the way).

Polygon MATIC Forum / Favorite dapps on Polygon?
« on: July 28, 2021, 07:44:58 PM »
To all users of the Polygon (previously Matic) network:
What are your most favorite dapps you use there?

Mine are:
  • aavegotchi.com - Tamagotchi on NFT
  • decentral.games - great for poker and black jack
  • quickswap.exchange - fast and good UX
(and my very own project, which i will announce soon ;) )

There are many ethereum scaling solutions existing already.
I personally like Polygon/Matic with its plasma child chain.
And there are other layer 2 solutions coming, like Optimism with its rollups tech.

All these will enable lower transaction costs, as they are not happening directly on mainnet.
At the same time they will help reduce congestion on mainnet, as existing and new projects can use them and thus cool down gas prices a bit.
