The best wallet would be a Hardware wallet no other alternative. However, if you are looking for free wallet then you can go for MEW (http://myetherwallet.com) or you can go for the mobile wallet app "Coinomi" and create a new ether wallet.

I think that Myetherwallet is the best wallet for ETH. All my friends uses MEW and i haven't heard any one of them complain of having problems with it. And they were using MEW for years now. We only have to secure the private key in order to be safe.

From my experience there are two most safe Ethereum wallets:
● MyEtherWallet (MEW)
● Metamask, browser addon
I prefer MEW, as for me it's very simple to use.
Just need to bookmark MyEtherWallet site and always access it from your bookmarked link, to avoid phishing.
Remember that other applications and sites can access your Clipboard!
So make sure that all of them closed when you copy/paste your private key.

I agree with you, this is the best purse, if you do not plan to keep large sums of money on it. It interacts directly with the blockchain Ethereum and does not have intermediaries as organizations and servers. The main thing is to save the private keys by writing them down on several paper sheets and hide them in different places. And do not store them as a *txt file on your computer's desktop otherwise your money can be stolen.

I would have love metamask but the fact that you can't use or access it using mobile or phone browser pain me the most, MEW is good but someone needs to be extremely careful when accessing his wallet. You can also use MCW, but very soon accessing your wallet using keystore file or private key will be disabled very soon, then you could make use of parity signer mobile app, just being security conscious anyways.

Yes as of now MEW is the best wallet for ETH, it is also received ERC20 tokens in your address.
But there is also decentralized wallet for ETH coins only the Blockchain.info were you stock your ethereum.

Anyway, best ones are still hardware wallets especially for security. Web wallets like MEW, Blue etc. and mobile wallets are also good and convenient. Just remember to add another layer of security when using web wallets.

I really enjoy myetherwallet but with the hacks to the DNS, i wouldnt use anything without a hardware wallet.. its just getting too risky.. link a Nano Ledger S or a Trezor to whatever you are using.

I prefer to use myetherum, I use myetherum almost half a year, but I also did not escape using indodax as my wallet I use for treding.

Mostly use MEW as what the others answers already so I would like to backup them as I know MEW is safe unless you did not secure your wallet. To avoid unnecessary things you should be ready to protect your wallet key in safe storage. People perish for lack of knowledge but sometimes the fault in not ours when hackers and bad motives attack us.

1. MEW --> More Secure, Support a lot of Altcoins
2. METAMASK --> It's more easy and Simple using METAMASK than MEW.

There is a new wallet that will be out soon (EQL Web Wallet), it is currently under closed beta testing. It'll probably be up for open beta testing next month. Somewhat similar to Metamask but the EQL Wallet can BOTH store and send eth and erc20 tokens without having to go thru MEW. It has more features but it's better if you could check it out on your own.

If you are a regular trader than Myetherwallet is best but if you want to buy something for long term and don't want to see i before your retirement time then hardware wallet is the best option. For me I use coinbase wallet and myetherwallet. Ethereum wallet in coinbase its easy to use and you can learn fast . And this wallet are very safe because they have 2fa.
