I think that's your decision if you want to buy ethereum classic just do it because ethereum classic is potential altcoin although there are more potential altcoins than ethereum classic in cryptomarket so if you invest in this coin you should be wait to earn profits. You can invest in Ethereum classic. I think if you are investing ,it is better to long term invest because this year ethereum2.0 update is coming.Therefore I believe after ethereum update Etc price will increase and  you will get more profit.

I don't think it's a good idea to buy Ethereum classic. You can invest in Ethereum, chain link and polkadot. These coins are huge potential than Ethereum classic. If you have 500$ , better to split your money at several top 10 coins than  only buy Ethereum classic.
BNB, Polkadot, Cardano, Polygon matic are better to buy and has potentially more than Ethereum classic, I think.
I prefer buy and hold at this moment, but for top 10 coins.

Bitcoin is a good choice to buy now currently bitcoin is slowly recovering however there is no confirmation to pump btc so buy at the low range then hold it otherwise if you want to invest in altcoins you can buy popular top altcoins ethereum, Solona, BNB...

If I had $500 I wouldn't buy ETC, I would buy Ripple XRP or TRX. because I see XRP and TRX as having more potential than ETC. Everyone has their own beliefs and research when looking at coins, but for now I see ETC as having less potential
