Your gold investment is safe as banks for both are stable investment.
If you invest in cryptocurrency the higher risk because of unstable movement of market. The chance to win higher profit than gold and bank investment in a short time is possible (know as quick rich especially in bull run), the same to lose in a day(drastic fall). By the way it depends on what kind of your crypto investment.
In some time there are circumstances and unexpected situations in cryptocurrency but why need to believe that it is good investment?

Cryptocurrency investment is good investment that we can not say when we compare it to banks because if you invest into crypto currency which market is too much fluctuated and there is no guarantee to back money But on the other hand if you make investment into bank that you can feel secure as Bank has physical existence and you can complain to central bank. But in cryptocurrency you can not do this but for high gain from cryptocurrency if you can make investment in top secured coins that may be perfect otherwise bank is best.

For me I can confidentially say bitcoin is the best asset for Investment, like you said bank and gold only gives us little percentage in a longer time, but bitcoin due to its volatility in price and investor can earn alot within a short period of time, tho Investing in bitcoin is risky due to its drastic price movement, so why not learn how to manage the risk and milk out good fortune from bitcoin.
