Hello tk808, how is CTE affiliated with the exchanges listed in the OP?

Pretty poor attempt to promote an article don't you think?

Forum related / Christmas Greetings!

Merry Christmas to the Altcoinstalks community!

I have not been very active lately but I still visit the forum from time to time. I wish the forum grows more and have more legit users.

Forum related / Re: New forum Rank Q/A

Forcing someone to post in the forums is not actual way to develop it.
I mean they weren't forced to create an account in the forum. Posting shouldn't be a problem if they intend to become part of the community. Ranking up is just a benefit of contributing and being actively engaged in the discussions.

Forum Announcements / Re: Forums biggest problem
« on: December 14, 2019, 03:40:43 PM »
10,000 sounds a lot for a two year forum but if they are bots, that's probably a normal figure. They cannot be eliminated all at once and many more will appear. The steps that has been implemented  to restrict new accounts like being unable to post links has been good though.

I would also like to see new accounts unable to create new topics until they earned a minimum level of activity. They will have to comment on topics and earn the privilege of posting their own topics.

But I'm sure that when Altcoinstalks  will gain more popularity it will become same scam shill platform as Bitcointalk is. ;D
You are talking as if altcoinstalks will become a platform that will scam people or did I misunderstood that?

I'm pretty sure you understood it right, but still playing with my words.
And I don't like when people play with my words.  ;)

I was asking you a direct question.

Both are good forums, bitcointalk is tighter to increase its rank, makes it difficult for newbies to move up, and as I know bitcointalk is an official forum owned by bitcoin companies, there is one proof that Satoshi Nakamoto was active in the forum around 2009-2010
bitcointalk*org/index.php?action=profile;u=3
Maybe difficult for newbies who are spammers/shitposters to rank up. There is also no bitcoin companies.
I think there are bitcoin companies that are implied, not explicitly.
You could be more specific with that and not simply say bitcoin companies. AFAIK there are no central company for bitcoin unlike other coins.

Ordinary forum member aren't allowed to post there.

Why no?
I can't see the reply button. It looks like mods are the only people allowed to comment.

According to Alexa rank:
- Bitcointalk has - 12.5K
- Altcoinstalks has - 270K
(Google rank is - 1)
So basically Altcoinstalks  is pretty far from Bitcointalk  ;)
At the moment, yes.

Ah well, no platform is perfect and this forum also has to earn from something. Everyone can have their own opionion about forum x or y but making accusation without any proof isn't good. Staying in a forum that you think will turn into something else boggles me.
There is no need to call Bitcointalk a forum X or Y. Because for any sapient humanoid, who tracks what happens there during last 2 years, it is obvious that 99% of announced projects are scams and most of discussions are related to scams.
99% is just your assumption correct? There are a lot of scams that were advertised for sure but I wouldn't put any percentage on how many were scams and how many were legit. Some people would equate failed projects to scam projects also to which I don't agree.

Looks like one of those rubbish articles to me, sorry

When market cap increases, the price of every coin increases and one needs to understand that there are no new money coming in for the coins that you have or anyone else’ has.
I was reading the whole thread and even I got confused. I think what you mean here is that when market cap of a particular coin increases, it means the price of that specific coin also increased.

When the overall marketcap of crypto increases, it does not necessarily mean that prices of all or every coin increases.

Don't pull any more formula because almost everyone in this thread is familiar on how to arrive at coinmarketcap.

Coin.ph is doing well with it's services that's why users are still complacent when it comes to their security. Some are even lazy to jut down private keys or seed phrase.

It was good for Abra to add 7-eleven for cash -in option but for them to catch up, they need to step it up a notch and add more cash out outlets. It's what they're really missing.

For Beginners / Scammers posing as security scanners
« on: October 05, 2019, 06:27:28 AM »
This is just another reminder to everyone never to download anything from the emails you receive. Some scammers are so smart and they make their emails really look professional. Remember that no reputable company would just send random emails.

Don't forget to check out the article as they explain the full details on how it's being perpetrated by fraudsters
'Lost Files' Data Wiper Poses as a Windows Security Scanner

A Windows Security Scanner that states it encrypted your files is being distributed by spam, but whether by bug or design, it instead corrupts binary data in a victim's files.

ISC Handler Xavier Mertens received a spam email that pretends to be from Microsoft and has a subject of "Virus Detection On Your Computer!". The email then proceeds to state that a Trojan horse was detected on the computer and that the recipient should download the linked to "security scanner"

For Beginners / Android user? Check if your phone is being exploited
« on: October 04, 2019, 05:35:08 PM »
This is from the article "New 0-Day Flaw Affecting Most Android Phones Being Exploited in the Wild"

Apparently, many android phones are affected by what they call as 'zero-day vulnerability" and it's been exploited by some surveillance group.

Quote
The zero-day is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Android kernel's binder driver that can allow a local privileged attacker or an app to escalate their privileges to gain root access to a vulnerable device and potentially silently take full remote control of the device.

Which phones are vulnerable?

Quote
most Android devices manufactured and sold by a majority of vendors with the unpatched kernel are still vulnerable to this vulnerability even after having the latest Android updates, including below-listed popular smartphone models :

Code: [Select]
Pixel 1
Pixel 1 XL
Pixel 2
Pixel 2 XL
Huawei P20
Xiaomi Redmi 5A
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5
Xiaomi A1
Oppo A3
Moto Z3
Oreo LG phones
Samsung S7
Samsung S8
Samsung S9

It helps to pay attention to these kind of news especially if you have a lot of personal information in your phone. Never trust your phone too much.

Crypto Exchanges / Re: Coinexchange.io is shutting down
« on: October 03, 2019, 07:11:30 PM »
Another victim of the long bear market huh? This exchange has been here for a while but I wonder why they were unable to outgrow the likes of Yobit who has been accused many times of pumps and dumps? I guess they failed to innovate and maybe remained greedy. They have not seen the influx of new exchanges that offers the same or better services than them but with less or even zero fees. As a trader, who would not want a decent exchange with lower fees?
