Is There a DOGE Breed That Is Better?
« on: March 01, 2021, 12:30:18 PM »

Dogecoin developers are working to ensure that the Shiba Inu-themed cryptocurrency's technology is as good as its hype. Dogecoin is a meme-based cryptocurrency that has managed to parlay cuteness into a market value of more than $6 billion.

The developers announced the release of a new version of the protocol's core on Sunday evening, promising faster synchronization and a shorter default mempool expiry time.
By removing expensive integrity checks that were performed each time a block was sent to another node, developers claim they've significantly improved the speed at which a DOGE (+2.02 percent ) node can upload blocks.
Furthermore, the new core reduced the default time for transactions to be cached in the mempool from 336 to 24 hours.
DOGE, which was first released as a joke in 2013, has piqued the interest of the crypto-buying public on several occasions, causing price spikes before plummeting to less than a penny per coin.
However, after capturing the imagination of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has made a side business of tweeting DOGE's praises at almost every turn, the coin has recently become part of the crypto zeitgeist. Rocker Gene Simmons, who calls himself the "God of Dogecoin," rapper Snoop Dogg (or DOGE), and even a pornstar are all fans of the cryptocurrency.
DOGE recently surpassed much more "serious" coins to enter the top ten list of most valuable cryptocurrencies, with a market cap of more than $10 billion. While DOGE has given back a lot of those gains, it is still well ahead of where it was previously. With a market cap of $6.27 billion and a per coin price of just under five cents at press time, it's still the 14th most valuable cryptocurrency.

Because of the price increase, the Shiba Inu's developers have been encouraged to improve the technology that underpins him, rather than focusing solely on his cute face.
