Trust wallet KYC verification Phishing mail. Beware!
« on: December 01, 2023, 11:12:31 PM »
I have been receiving couple of mail daily to verify KYC for trust wallet. Though occasionally I have been using trust wallet but not as an main wallet. This is absolutely hacking attack. They provide some links even I haven't bothered to click. I just deleted message instantly. Non-custodial wallet won't ask you verify KYC anyway. There are no options to input your mail during creating trust wallet. So no question to receiving KYC verification mail from Trust wallet. It might a result of data breach from various crypto sites. So don't click any links if you receive smialr mail.

Thanks for this info, use of sharing personal information should always be done with caution especially in response to demands for KYC verification or unwanted emails. For Wallet security checks are essential for preventing potential fraud and attacks. A phishing attempt has been made recently that targets non custodial wallets and requests personal information. Recall that most non custodial wallet do not need KYC verification. Users should be aware of the risks before to clicking on dubious links in order to safeguard their personal information and valuables. An essential part of identifying and preventing these types of scams is education.

I agree with you. It's important to be careful when you get emails asking for KYC verification. And this is  true if you did not give your email when you made your Trust wallet. These emails might be part of a hacking attack or from other crypto sites that had a data breach. And It is good that you didn't click on any of the links and deleted the messages right away. It's always better to be safe and not give personal information or click on suspicious links. And thank you for telling us about this and reminding others to be careful about scams.

The same thing here, the same thing on metamask spam email. This is because that email was used to buy ledger and guess what, too many spams, airdrops, scam exchange, even blockchain wallet verification lol. That's why i stopped using that email but that's too late, all i can do is to mark them as spam, phishing then block.

If ordinary investors hold their money on a decentralized platform instead of an exchange platform, there is more security. We use  trust wallets so that no other person has the access our money. Moreover, our identity can be kept secret by using this type of wallet. But if someone is being tracked by email or some other way, the victim should be careful. It is important to remember that if we have to do KYC why would we use that wallet? Any such scam mails or phishing sites should be avoided otherwise there is a possibility of losing resources. We must take care of our own safety. Avoid touching any kind of link from an unknown source until we recognize.

Thanks for sharing this with the community. Non custodial wallet does not require an email address and KYC verification but I won't be surprised if some newbies fall for it.
