Been Denied Winning For Misplacing Your Winning Ticket

This happened to a close friend. He won last week but he misplaced his winning ticket. In the betting shop, it was boldly written “NO TICKET NO PAYMENT”. When he approached the betting shop owner, the betting shop owner confirmed the winning but told him to wait for 7days to see if someone else would come to claim the winning. After the 7 days elapsed, nobody came to claim the winning. My friend was hoping that the betting shop owner would give him the winning but he refused because it is part of the requirements that you must present your winning ticket to the cashier before you can get your winning. My friend even had to plead that the winning should be shared between him and the betting shop owner but the owner refused. If you were in the position of my friend, what would you have done? Let it go. If the policy is no payment if you cannot present a winning ticket, then just accept that. Trying to convince the owner of the shop for any cuts is only a waste of time.

If the ticket is damaged, then maybe there's still a chance to claim.
