Title: Monero [XMR] Fights Back Against Illegal Mining and Cyber-Criminals

The Monero malware working group in recent days unveiled a new website dedicated to educating users about the cryptocurrency and how to identify ransomware and malware linked to crypto-jacking, which is when criminals take control of a user’s computing power to mine XMR coins.

The famous Monero contributor Justin Ehrenhofer announced via his Twitter that it has launched the Monero Malware Response Workgroup.

The Monero Malware Workgroup has been created by a set of volunteers that want to help users with zero knowledge on cryptocurrencies to learn about the space and how these virtual currencies work.  They want to inform, report and protect users that want to fight against XMR malicious mining activities.

The rise of crypto-jacking didn’t take those in the crypto-and-security worlds by surprise. In fact, the only surprising thing was perhaps the length of time it took malicious actors to use crypto-jacking to mine for Cryptocurrency.
