Has anyone actually been paid in cryptocurrency for 'real work'? I'm not talking bounties or cryptocurrency related projects, but normal everyday work. Still seems to be an unusual occurrence for most people, but think this will be a sign that acceptance of cryptocurrencies is growing. I have heard of various people getting paid for odd jobs, but not many, there's a long way to go yet.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Buy Orders - Get them ready.
« on: April 08, 2018, 03:02:01 AM »
Having buy orders placed for coins is essential to ensure you don't miss out on grabbing your coins at the price you have earmarked. Apart from those using trading bots, most of us have to watch the markets to make the trades. If you do your research and pick out potential low points, you can place buy orders at various levels so that if the market makes brief sudden drops, your orders will go through. For example, I have buy orders in on a few coins at around 10% below the current market rate.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Criteria for Investing?
« on: April 08, 2018, 02:52:53 AM »
What criteria do people use for investing in projects? I tend to look at the basics first.

The project itself - what does it do and how innovative is it? Are there any/many competitors, and if so, what is the project's USP?

The team - how experienced are they in the field? Are they a young, ideas team, or an experienced team, both bring their benefits?

Supply - what is the coin/token supply and how does the supply relate to it's purpose? How did they decide on the maximum supply? Is it mineable?

There are loads of other factors to consider, but these ones tend to give me an overview to decide whether to investigate any further.

Ethereum Forum / Top ten in six months?
« on: March 30, 2018, 05:20:28 AM »
Ok, so the current top ten are as follows (approx. market cap):

1. Bitcoin ($116.8 billion)
2. Ethereum ($37.1 billion)
3. Ripple ($19.4 billion)
4. Bitcoin Cash ($12.1 billion)
5. Litecoin ($6.3 billion)
6. EOS ($4.5 billion)
7. Cardano ($3.6 billion)
8. Stellar ($3.4 billion)
9. NEO ($3.2 billion)
10. IOTA ($2.9 billion)

Another seven are above the $1 billion plus market cap (excluding USDT).

Can't see any outsiders from the top 30 breaking in to the top ten over the next six months, but maybe a bit of movement could see some make a bid for top ten status  - Icon, Qtum, Monero, OmiseGo etc. (with an outside bet on Stratis).

Cryptocurrency discussions / Buy the Dip - again...
« on: March 30, 2018, 03:35:31 AM »
All the established crypto channels/advisers keep telling everyone to buy the dip and sell the highs. What they don't (and can't!) tell you is where those points are. I have bought the dip continuously for the last two months, and am slowly running out of money. If the dip doesn't stop dipping, I'm gonna run out of money soon. All fun and games, until the bank takes my house.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Altcoins for April
« on: March 29, 2018, 02:29:34 AM »
So another month of a slow, unsure market goes by. At least March has been slightly more stable than January or February. Starting to see coins break out from the pack and make some progress. For April, I think we could see the following coins on an upward trend, hopefully better than the market performs overall.

MWAT - Restart Energy
WPR - WePower
MTH - Monetha
SRN - Sirin Labs
KMD - Komodo

Cryptocurrency discussions / Stop saying 'When Moon?'
« on: March 26, 2018, 06:10:21 AM »
There is nothing I hate more than an 'investor' - normally someone who has actually invested zero cash in a project - saying 'When moon?' This phrase is pointless and only encourages futile speculation. Take your irrelevant comments elsewhere.

Cryptocurrency discussions / When did you start investing?
« on: March 26, 2018, 05:14:54 AM »
I invested in Bitcoin for the first time back in September, and ever since I have been trying to get more people involved. It's more difficult than it sounds, relatives ask a lot of irrelevant questions. Every time I 'sign up' someone, I am still amazed at the questions I get asked, the level of knowledge is ridiculous.

Forum related / What constitutes spam?
« on: March 23, 2018, 06:45:31 AM »
I read in the rules that spam is not allowed, and only meaningful posts are permitted. I get the difference between spam and useless/pointless posts, but I still see a lot of posts that at the least, don't add anything to the discussion, and at the most, are either completely irrelevant or spam. How are posts evaluated at this early stage of the forum? It will become even more difficult as the forum's popularity grows and the number of posts increases.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Buying the Dip - Again
« on: March 23, 2018, 06:38:35 AM »
I keep reading that we are supposed to 'buy the dip'. The only problem with this advice, as solid as it is, is that no-one knows where the bottom of the dip is. I have 'bought the dip' about 5 times in the last few months. Can't wait to 'sell the highs' later this year. Just hoping I don't have to buy another dip before that happens.

Bittrex have announced that they will be delisting over 80 coins by March 30th. If you hold any of the coins listed in the link, make sure to transfer them to your private wallet or another exchange before then, otherwise you will lose your coins.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Ideal Number of Coins in a Portfolio?
« on: March 21, 2018, 11:34:49 PM »
What is the ideal amount of coins to hold in a portfolio? Forget about the actual size of investment, how thin should I be spreading it across different coins? Currently I have more than 20 coins, but I would like to get it down to 15 max, and even this is probably too many to get any real benefit if one of them decides to go on a huge bull run. I think holding between 10-12 maximum, that represents 70-80% of a portfolio (not including ETH/BTC) is about right, with a bit of extra fiat (or ETH/BTC) to do some swing trading here and there.
