Montlhy reports are good so the community is updated on what is happening. However, there are times when the team won't be able to do that especially during development phase.

The reports are not profitable for the ICO team itself, especially if they are not very good at fundraising. If they show it in their monthly reports, then no one else will invest in their ICO. I think monthly reports is necessary. It will ensure people that the team is still working and they shouldn't be worry with the development of the project. I have ever participated in some bad projects that never did weekly or monthly reports. All of them ended with scam issues.

Projects do not make such reports, as for them it is quite stressful, and on the other hand why? If usually investors do not require them to do so and invest based on other parameters such as white paper, team, idea, etc.

I don't think monthly reports are necessary, just a continuing update of the timeline and when significant stages are reached. I can't remember the name of the project now, but they had a great system, where they constantly had progress reports broken down into different sections, each indicating the percentage of progress that had been made. It definitely added a level of confidence in the work that was going on behind the scenes, even when it was running behind schedule.
