Title: Question about grin does it fall into the privacy section?
Post by: philipma1957 on January 23, 2024, 09:19:30 PM
Grin is an odd duck in that it does not allow viewing of addresses to a large degree so is it a privacy coin?

I am currently mining grin as I type and grin does seem to fall into this section as you can't view addresses with any degree of was.

Does anyone else have grin and consider it to be called a privacy coin?

The features of Grin are not limited only to no amounts and no addresses, but because it did not target the same approach as most altcoins, which is to focus on the price or reduce transaction fees, but the problem was in the price and in the spread of the currency. There is an intermediary solution provided by litecoin by providing Mimblewimble transactions, but Grin is worth discussing.

Any coin which promote itself as privacy coin/cryptocurrency fall into this section. Even DASH fall into this section even though it's very similar with Bitcoin + CoinJoin feature.

Good as I do have a decent amount of grin. I wonder if anyone is holding grin?

I mine it and have some  coins.  I also may want to liquidate it one day and can not seem to find a USA based exchange that will let me trade it.

https://www.coinbase.com/converter/grin/usd

Coinbase have option to trade Grin for USD, not sure is there any crypto pairs available at the moment on any other US based exchange.

Definitely coinbase can be trusted with even huge volume to convert.

That means nothing.
Coinbase explore page you posted can also show Monero and almost any other cryptocurrency that exist in the world, and this coins are surely not listed on Coinbase exchange.
This page is similar like CoinMarketCap that is operated by Binance, or independent Coingecko website.
