Title: Admin Should use (UT) as Author to Identify the Topic Starter or Owner.
Post by: Agbe on March 23, 2024, 03:54:30 PM
UT at the front of the Author: Example. Agbe (UT) to make it different from other forums

We are just a blind world in this forum about who Starts the topic or the creator of the subject. And I think someone has created such topic that the admin should insert OP at the front of the Person that who created the thread to separate the owner of the thread from others. But as for me if the concept of "OP" which is Original Post or Original Poster has been used in another forum and the admin here don't want to use it then he can use (UT) Author to Identify or separate the person that creates the topic so that whenever he or she makes comments in that thread, it identify him or her as the topic starter.

This is very important as the moment because as it it we are all the same there is no different between the creator of the topic and the commentors. I have been trying to check this out but no way. Mostly threads that have entered from 4 pages, you wouldn't know how create the thread unless you go back again to the first page of the thread. And if the "UT" make any comment after creating the thread it should be indicated as UT at the front of the author. The admin should look into this matter. Thanks

Can't users just look at the 1st post and see who created the topic? I see nothing wrong with adding it, but I also don't think we need to copy everything bitcointalk is doing. If the admin adds it it's fine, not sure it helps the forum though.

@yahoo62278 has read my mind. Any user who wants to know who the "OP" is just has to go to the beginning of the thread to find out, there is no further complication. I don't think it's a question of "OP" being used in BTT, I think it's a matter of priorities in the forum. The admin has already said that he is working on a list of new things, when he finishes those things we will be able to propose new ones. Anyway, you can always make this suggestion and others, the admin will tell us which of them can be implemented

there are a lot of bugs, or things that need fixing ...
and of course priority for this first

I agree. I see no reason to add OP for now, as it is not necessary for anything.
Additional more useful features and bug fixes should be top priority

I know what do you want but choosing "UT" is like irrelevant, what's the meaning of it, it is an abbreviation of what. Other forums called thread author as "TS" or "Thread Starter" the same as OP or just "author" why use "UT".

Well, in comparison in btt, PowerGlove made it and not theymos coz it's not that priority.

Sir I'm not too conversant with most of these abbreviations, so I will like to ask you the meaning of UT?

I dont think we need to have UT , OP or any other letters to see who created the topic.
Even before I open any topic I can see very easy see who created it and I never open random topic without looking at the title and author.

This is not needed in this forum but I think it is just a suggestion from the op and the admin knows why to do. Op please can you tell us the full meaning of the UT?

I also did not understand the meaning of UT? I know it's the same as (OP) in other forums but I don't know where this abbreviation came from?

Anyway, if the admins are going to make this change in the future, I would prefer the abbreviation to be (OP) not (UT) because that is confusing and unclear.

to separate the owner of the thread from others

Topic starter is not the owner of the topic, he is just the starter of the discussion. In some sections (like ANN section or any other where the representative can manage topics of different projects) there can be important to know who is an official representative and who is not, but there can be many official representatives and they can be not topic starters. And in other sections it is not so important who started the topic, everyone can take part in the discourse. ???

Going back to the very first page of the thread is not much of an effort to do. Besides, before you even open the thread, the name of the user who started the thread is already displayed. We just have to give more attention to where we should look and not just the title or the subject of the thread where we plan to join the discussion.
