Gambling discussion / Re: Whats your experience with gambling?
« on: May 02, 2024, 05:32:17 PM »
I'm not sure if it is bad or not. But it was because I didn't understand what I was doing that the beginning of gambling turned out to be very bad. ha ha ha'
This was a very unsuccessful attempt at that time, so it made me pause for a moment to at least understand what I was playing.

That's not easy enough. Because indeed a lot of gambling is influenced by luck. And I thought, my luck isn't that good. Yes, even though sometimes it is a win, it seems like there are more losses. Because of that, I don't accept gambling because I really realize that it's not easy and the risks are actually very high.

you had a really good start with gambling :D I understand how it feels when luck isn't always on your side. Wins can be exciting but the losses definitely sting a bit more. It's super important to recognize that balance just like you have.

Being in the right state of mind can truly make or break the experience. I’ve noticed myself that when Im mentally prepared my decision making improves drastically. Mental readiness seems like a crucial, yet often overlooked element of successful gambling. In fact, mental health is important in any activity. Its really not advisable to engage in tasks that require attention and responsibility when we're tired, confused or unfocused.

Im with you. Such people are often sensitive and unsolicited criticism is rarely constructive and brings no results. People without addictions must learn to cultivate empathy and treat addicts with understanding. And probably this is also easier said than done because usually the first reaction to the action of a person's addiction is negative. But still since those facing addiction may not fully grasp their situation, expecting them to respond positively to criticism is unrealistic.
I wouldn't completely agree with you that the reactions to the actions of an addicted fellow is ALWAYS negative. If you say it's mostly negative then I'll agree but not always.
Let's assume you were once addicted to gambling and then you finally got help and quit the addiction, are you saying that you'll get a negative reflex or reaction when you confront someone who is still fighting addiction.

In such a case, I bet the first thing you'd do is put yourself in his shoes because you'd understand what it means and how it feels to be addicted and how helpless the person is.

Its true, my perspective might have come off as a bit too general. Reactions can indeed vary widely. But what I was trying to say is that most of the time, people's first reaction is negative, and that's because not many folks have been through this themselves or seen someone close go through it. They can really relate and understand. But the truth is, most people haven't had that kind of close up experience with addiction. So my point is as a society we really need to learn how to be more understanding and supportive. We're not really taught how to handle these situations, how to treat people who are struggling, which is something we need to work on. We need to bring a bit more empathy.

Cryptocurrency Trading / Re: Trading is not same thing as Gambling
« on: May 01, 2024, 01:21:16 AM »
I keep seeing this type of comparison all the time and everywhere. I think its quite obvious that they are not the same but for some reason it must be "feeling" same to some people. If you are not using TA or FA, if you are not reading the charts, if you are not putting your entire trading knowledge into each trade, then yeah you may feel that way. Still doesn't mean its gambling, but a newbie just randomly picking something may feel a little bit like a gambler. I believe that as long as we get to just have a positive return or at least potential to it, the lack of house edge alone makes it quite possible for you to be fine.

Its true, any activity where a newbie jumps in and just hopes for the best can feel a lot like gambling. Its about luck for them at that point kind of like playing the lottery. If you're not looking at charts or putting your knowledge to work I can totally see why it might feel more like a gamble. But processes that you can control or predict more than 80% can hardly be considered random

a gambling addict will stop if he is aware of it on his own and cannot be forced if it is not from their heart, even if it is religion and family, if they do not have a strong intention to leave gambling

I fully with you. True change does indeed come from within and gambling is no exception. Its essential that the person has a genuine and strong desire to change. I wholeheartedly agree that self awareness is the cornerstone of meaningful and lasting transformation.

Gambling discussion / Re: No risk no gain
« on: May 01, 2024, 12:24:46 AM »
Dont you find it funny, that "no risk = no gain" can simultaneously be "risk = no gain", but it almost unlikely to be "no risk = gain" situation? That no matter how much you risk you can still lose. Originally it suppose to mean that you cant achieve without trying, but it turns that you can try, spend time money and still fail. To this quote, I would like to add the word regret. This would suit perfectly as a motivation and a lighthouse for every gambler. No matter how you play, how you deal with your money and how your life is going, a person should never regret what he did. This is his life lesson, experience and he should accept it no matter if it is bad or good.

And what if there are rare instances like receiving an unexpected inheritance where "no risk = gain" does indeed seem plausible :)
However, as you noted typically to gain something substantial one must be willing to take a risk whether it be of time, money or effort.
Each situation demands a unique approach to risk and how we manage that risk often defines our outcomes.
I agree with your perspective on regret as well. Every experience, whether positive or negative shapes us. Embracing each as an invaluable lesson allows us to transform our experiences into strengths.

What happens is that when things like inheritance are something inevitable, there is no risk, but it is a great loss that is suffered, so everything has its risk and effort in the same way, so this is something that will always be noticed, Personally, I say something, in everything in life you Must take risks in order to have some profits, and the most you can do is lose the rest if it goes well , then you win and big, so what happens is not bad. This also applies in the casino, when we play we know that money is at risk, in investments and everywhere, in gambling the risk is much stronger, there are people who have lost everything because they do not know how to control themselves, that is something This happens to many players and is what should be Avoided.

Its true, every aspect of life involves some level of risk and managing it effectively is important. And in gambling we can see how risk plays out in more intense environments.
Its important, as you note, to maintain control and awareness. I think it underscores the value of self discipline and the need for effective risk management strategies not just in gambling, but across all areas of life. Learning to navigate these risks, understanding when to take chances and knowing when to step back are essential skills that can lead to significant rewards or protect us from serious losses.

The impact of gambling on student is seriously bad, and it has impacted the student negatively in a way that it has affected the academics; poses failures in academic performance, mental health issue, risk of suicide, physical health issue and lost of family togetherness.
So problem gambling can be detrimental to student and it is dangerous for Ernest student because of the negative impact it poses on the students. What is your own opinion on this.
Study is main target for a student. But when a student engage with gambling. I think gambling is very bad for students. Because gambling is one kinds of addiction some times. When a student fall in this addition then his study will be suffer.
So my strong advice for student to avoid gambling. Because it will stand in the way of achieving his goals.
In my view, students do not deserve to be allowed to gamble and there should be government regulations on this matter. I really agree, that gambling is the same as using illegal drugs, it can make gamblers addicted.
Of course, it is very dangerous for students because their learning activities will be consumed by their addiction.
There must be very strict supervision from the school or parents themselves so that their children are not trapped in gambling.
Gambling should only be done by those who are financially established and are not seeking profit from gambling but only as a form of entertainment.

I hold a different perspective. I believe that rather than imposing strict government regulations specifically targeting students, we should focus on educating them about responsible gambling behaviors. While the addictive nature of gambling is a concern, treating it similarly to illegal drug use looks a bit overextension.
Many adults including students who are of legal age, can engage in gambling responsibly as a form of entertainment without it interfering with their academic and personal growth. So providing educational programs and support systems could empower students to make informed decisions. If we act on this way its promotes responsibility without compromising personal freedoms.

Here, I invite you to share personal stories about your gambling journey — whether you've had big wins, faced losses or just dabble occasionally for fun.
Or maybe you have strange gambling habits  :D

I have gambling habit. My experience with gambling although only a few years long has given me a good sense of when I should and shouldn't play. I don't keep track of my losses but whenever I win I make sure to treat myself or my loved ones to something nice, whether it's clothes, gadgets, jewelry, or other memorable items, depending on the amount I win. I really enjoy rewarding myself and family in this way.
That's very nice because it shows how responsible you are and that you have the ability of taking charge of your finance, because not everyone actually makes good use of their winnings.
The reason why most gamblers are always on the losing side isn't because they don't usually win when they gambling, but it's because they lack the ability to walk away with their win or make good use of them. Due to greed and not always being satisfied, and yes, always keeping track of all their previous losses and deciding to chase them with their win and when things goes bazaar, they end up losing everything, including their own money.

That's very true. To be honest, I had this opportunity before to go down the same way. I was fixating solely on my losses until someone asked me whether I had never won. That made me think. Indeed, I have won at times, so why was I only dwelling on the losses, completely discounting the wins or even those times when I neither won nor lost but still had fun? From then on I decided to celebrate my wins no matter how small. Focusing on the positive experiences really does work. By the way, not only in gambling  :)

Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling: for fun or to earn money?
« on: April 30, 2024, 04:17:17 PM »
It seems to me that its entirely possible to combine the fun of gambling with earning money. if you are a professional sports bettor you can enjoy both the thrill and the income it brings. As for slots you can also play them for money but it's important to approach this responsibly. Don't quit your main job right away! :)
Jokes aside. it's true that we all love money but anything that clouds a clear mind is not a winning strategy.
You're right that there's a possibility of combining both the thrill aspect and the earning aspect, but this isn't as easy as it sounds, it'll require a great deal of discipline and self control, because it'll take one to approach gambling responsibly and with a completely clear mind.

For example, those who are considered to be professional gamblers can actually do that combination because they're believed to be a lot more in control of their emotions when gambling, so they can enjoy the game while making good money from the activity.
The same way playing on the slot machines could be quite enjoyable too, but the secret to not getting caught up in the whole thing and losing control is by setting and sticking to your gambling limits, have a good bankroll management and whatever you do, never chase your losses.

of course, in order to achieve something, we need to make efforts, but this does not mean that it is impossible. Embracing challenges can be profoundly satisfying, especially when you're passionate about what you're doing. As you said with the right blend of self control and discipline not only is this combination achievable but it can also lead to greater enjoyment and profitability over time. As we strive for this balance the initial difficulties become well worth the effort.

Jokes aside. it's true that we all love money but anything that clouds a clear mind is not a winning strategy.

We will always be people who will seek to earn more and whenever possible we will try to do so, sometimes greed is one of the things that can make us lose control and because of these things mistakes begin and those mistakes when we do not correct them because it makes us go in the only direction of addiction, so every time we are in a casino it is easy, if we have Losses then we Assume them, but if we win we have to withdraw the money, there is no other option, for that we have to be clear about what we are looking for, in We cannot fail that, and it is also better to always be Depositing and playing with a controlled balance than to be putting in much more money and that is Another mistake. So the fewer errors we have, the better for everything.

Indeed, striving for fewer mistakes is always beneficial. However, what truly matters is how we respond after those mistakes occur. Do we reflect and learn? Do we adjust our behavior and strategies? While it's impossible to avoid mistakes entirely, we can certainly learn from them and minimize them.

If gambling is a way for a person to relax and get adrenaline, he will play even after getting a big win (at the risk of losing everything). Gambling is like a drug, it sucks you in so much that it is hard to get out of its nets. So - it all depends on what originally led to gambling

You're definitely right. However, I think it's important to view this with a balanced perspective. Seeking adrenaline isn't inherently negative. For example, athletes who skydive or bungee jump. These activities are exhilarating and evoke intense emotions yet they carry inherent risks. Ultimately, people should have awareness and ability to maintain balance across various aspects of their life. So maybe in ideal situation person should establish priorities and uphold values that prevent them from straying onto harmful paths. Much like extreme sports the thrill of gambling needs to be approached with caution and responsibility.

Meme Coins / Re: Does Good Luck Play a Role In Crypto?
« on: April 29, 2024, 04:13:19 AM »
Generally though, trading or investing in crypto has it's risk and more often than not, it's always better to learn before you start... And, every now and then there are fellows who are very good at speculating and knowing which news are going to affect trade and otherwise.

On the other hand though, I've seen some people only trade when a particular seemingly abstract condition is met. Like back then, a lady on X said she only open trades when her cat is indoor and she seemed to get good trades no less.

My curiosity about the whole Good luck thing was actually fueled by a Japanese memecoin for good luck Maneki coz I was curious if people still lean in that direction these days?

Plus, if you had to choose one, would you rather buy something that claims to bring good luck or something else that claims to bring bad luck?

LOL... So after your choice from above, does it stem from belief or instincts?

I trust my intuition and believe in karma :)
While I don’t rely on any special talismans I really appreciate the idea behind them. It’s charming how people hold onto beliefs in miracles, these talismans can be quite endearing plus they do add a psychological comfort perhaps by boosting confidence or reducing anxiety about decisions.
And of course I choose something that claims to bring good luck, not because I believe it has any real effect on the markets but because maintaining a positive mindset can be beneficial.

Gambling discussion / Re: should gambling be completely banned?
« on: April 25, 2024, 12:08:15 AM »

Actually, based on the level gambling is going these days, on my own opinion, it should be banned. Reason being is, Student in college are no longer focus in studying because of gambling. Children below 18 years, under age are involve in gambling, and it's lead to them, stealing their parents money for gambling. It has disintegrate families and relationships in the society, so to me the disadvantage of gambling in the society is more than the advantage it gives to the society, based on that,it should be banned that's my opinion.
Maybe a lesson is out there to be learned? Parents need to teach their children about addiction and the dangers of getting too involved in gambling. Show them what can and will happen to most people. The problem isn't gambling itsself, it's people. People are stupid.

Let's think about it like this. We all see the ads on TV telling you the dangers of smoking. You see the surgeon general warning on every pack of cigarettes, but does that stop people from smoking? Nope, millions upon millions of people are stupid enough to light up a smoke 15-30 times a day. Same goes for drugs, people watch morons shooting up heroin and dying daily, but they all think. " that won't happen to me". Are you stupid? It 100% will happen to you, you aren't built any different than the next guy.

Can gambling be bad, of course, but it doesn't need banned. People just need to treat it as entertainment and not life.

Very well said, people are the problem. Many do not want to take personal responsibility and instead hope the government will intervene, for example by closing casinos. But the problem is not really theirs. You must develop yourself and your children by teaching them useful skills and providing valuable information. So that these students will be able to make independent decisions in the future and be responsible for the consequences.
