Title: How Can Blockchain Help Farmers in Cambodia?
Post by: bittpress on August 30, 2018, 08:39:55 AM
Blockchain just made its way into Cambodia.

Rice farmers there are using it in hopes of getting better prices for their grain.

Blocrice is stating its program with 50 organic rice farmers. Oxfam also plans to expand the program throughout the country.

The program will help promote contract farming between farmers and buyers.

Contracts will now be digital and registered on the blockchain platform.  Then, once a payment is done, the blockchain will be updated.

Great Plan.

The US and EU are likely to impose limited political sanctions on officials of the ruling Cambodian People's Party following the election in July, which was neither free nor fair. Nevertheless, broader economic sanctions hitting Cambodia's trade privileges are unlikely, owing to the large negative impact they would have on the country's economy. Meanwhile, despite the recent token release of some prisoners, the space for opposition political forces will remain severely restricted in 2018.
As a result of that, I am not quite sure how blockchain can help farmers in Cambodia, to be honest. On the one hand, it might help the farmers in order for them to have their own monetary system. On the other hand, it does not help at all because of the trade sanctions and their likely loss of trade privileges.

The blochchain technology can be used in all aspect of life farming included. The smart contract of blockchain protocol will be used means payment between payers and seller with a cheaper transactional cost compared to the traditional banking institue. This will increase crypto exposure to the farmers. With the block chain,  farmers will not need a third party broker what will earn commission thereby increasing cost and reducing profitability to the farmer. With block chain, transactions will be efficient, reliable, transparent, and accountable. This is indeed a good initiative .

Beautiful plan. Blockchain technology is very suitable for all aspects of the economy including agriculture. But the application of blockchain in the agricultural sector must be combined with government policies so that the results to be achieved can be maximized and useful for public.

Or maybe, they want to promote their rice to the global market via blockchain payment.
I don't know also.
The Cambodja government have given permission ,or not yet ?
This is also important thing.

One again, be careful,
Avoid scams ico-agriculture,
developer cheat investors by making ico agriculture. Even though the project actually does not exist
