Title: Beside trading, what's the point of cryptos for ordinary people and businesses?
Post by: Peter90 on January 07, 2024, 11:12:10 AM
Traders, investors and crypto people in general - like the users of this forum - can use cryptocurrencies in order to make money... Ok
Financial institutions and companies can use cryptocurrencies for quicker and cheaper transfers... Ok

But for teachers, nurses and pensioners, for the grocery store at the corner, the shoes shop, the restaurant, the car repair shop... for these people and businesses what are cryptocurrencies good for? What could cryptos be good for?

They are not night traders. They have no idea what Binance and Coinbase are and they not even think about trading cryptos.
Ordinary people.

What's the point of the existence of cryptocurrencies for them?

How can or could cryptocurrencies serve them?

For example, one of the answers is probably inflation.

I just read about Argentina: “Amid the economic challenges in Argentina, characterized by peso devaluation and high inflation, crypto adoption has surged as a practical solution for individuals seeking alternatives to navigate these issues”

This is indeed a very vital question you've raised here. As crypto ethusiast, we think that the adoption of crypto currency is more than 70% confirmed, but we fail to release that we are been deceived by the cycle we are in. Now back to the question.

Quote
But for teachers, nurses and pensioners, for the grocery store at the corner, the shoes shop, the restaurant, the car repair shop... for these people and businesses what are cryptocurrencies good for? What could cryptos be good for?
Most crypto ethusiast believes that you must know how a particular crypto work and every protocol that guides it, before making purchases or whatsoever. If this ideology is to be followed, then certain people like the nurses, teachers and pensioners won't find it neccesary.
Have you ever wonder why this people use our traditional banks and credit cards ?, Because they don't need to understand the protocol behind it.

So, if the above mentioned people don't see the need in learning the protocols that guides all these cryptocurrencies, then they can simply use it as a medium of transaction. Investment shouldn't be compulsory, but let it serve as a medium of transaction just like their credit cards and money in banks. This should also apply for those who are not educated.

In conclusion, the less complex it is, the quicker the adoption.

Cryptos is not limited to traders.

Water is not suitable for new born babies. They need milk to grow and for instance water is needed at the proper time since their bodies already in another level up to drinking some drinks for adult and foods too.

What's the point? Everything has its own perfect time to grasp and adopt particularly cryptocurrency.

What is Cryptos for them? Well, for me Cryptos for them is money. How do I explain money? Tangible and intangible. This is the normal trend which I am confident that a lot of people possess s9me idea with regards to cryptocurrency.

Some day, it will not be hard to embrace. It will become common in daily basis.

they won't know what crypto is for if they don't want to know what crypto is
So don't ever force these people to get to know crypto

How can crypto serve them?
crypto will not serve those people who don't want to know about crypto without those people crypto will also continue to develop
So you don't need to think about people who don't want to enter the crypto world and find out the reasons

For everyday people and small businesses, cryptocurrencies can also provide several significant benefits. They can be used for fast and cheap international transfers, provide access to financial services in places where banking services are limited, and serve as a store of value in times of high inflation. Cryptocurrencies provide decentralized access to financial resources, and smart contracts on the blockchain can simplify business processes. They can also promote financial inclusion by providing access to financial opportunities for those who were previously unable to do so. In short, cryptocurrencies can provide benefits to all participants in the ecosystem, regardless of their technical knowledge or business specificity.

The reality truth is that whoever that is not ready to trade or invests on the crytop doesn't have to receive payments through the crytop alternative means of payments/transaction because of its volatility potentials which has the tendencies of depreciations or appreciations in no given of times which could cause them lost of depressions but would only be excited of it when the transactions was either not count looses or their is an increment of the transaction which proffers the affirmed mentioned individuals an excitement.
Hence, aside the means of payments/transaction, every crytop earners are potentials of crytop investors so, there could also be possibilities of these mentioned individuals to adopt the system of the crytop currency trading and investment because they are not limited to be one of the beneficiaries.

Cryptocurrency is open to all and there is no limit within a particular set of people. You must not be a trader before you can buy any cryptocurrency of your choice. The most important thing is knowledge, if these set of people that you mentioned have interest on cryptocurrency, they will give it a try and don't think that it wouldn't be some of them zeal to adopt cryptocurrency. For small businesses, they can accept it as an alternative payment method because the can use it as a store of value to keep their money. I am from a third world country and there is high rate of inflation, so I save in bitcoin because it is an hedge against inflation. Also cryptocurrency like bitcoin gives financial freedom to its users. If governments legalize cryptocurrency, you will see that those category of people that you mentioned...teachers, small business, nurses will adopt it because they will be enlightened about the benefits attached to it, especially when it can be used as an investment.

Not all cryptocurrency have same function as Bitcoin. Blockchain itself can be applied by this so called ordinary people in their professions. Blockchain helps stores data and we can deny that all profession makes use of various data's. Crypto like ethereum were not created as a means of payment. It can be used to create smart contracts or tokens which various profession can use as a reward mechanism in respect to job performance.
In a nutshell, Cryptocurrency can be applied in all jobs but only few have adopted it. Due to its complexity in some cases and the lack of awareness by various individuals about cryptocurrency. Even while talking about Bitcoin, it was created to make an ordinary individual be their own bank. So we can see that they can apply it either as a store of value, means of payment (speed worse than fiat) or for investment purpose. Nobody said a teacher or nurse can't invest.

It is true that not all cryptocurrencies can be used for all of life, but if Bitcoin is used for work, then it is very dangerous because Bitcoin price movements are unpredictable and very volatile, making the exchange rate unstable, and it seems less suitable if used for a payroll system because the fear is that when there is bad news, the price will easily collapse and the exchange rate will fall so that employees cannot get the appropriate exchange rate.

"They can earn from trading and transfer their funds quicker and cheaper..."
Let's keep trading and transfer separated, then I can play with that thought (because in order to take advantage of quick and cheap transfers offered by cryptocurrencies... people don't need to learn to trade, they don't need to become traders).

So, this is where I agree with you: ordinary people - e.g. businesses - can profit from quick and cheap transfers.
Ok, but since I'm not very smart, let me ask: how specifically? Could you make an example?
How could a shoes seller profit from crypto's quick and cheap transfers?

At least for businesses, they could accept cryptocurrency as payment method (assuming it's legal on their country) if they think it could increase their sales. As for price volatility concern, they could either sell received coins quickly or use 3rd party payment gateway which perform conversion automatically.

I'm not so smart myself but I'll share the little things I understand.

Shoe seller scenario:
1. Cheap transfers mean lesser expenses compared to traditional banking processes. I think that's enough.
2. Quick transfers could mean more time saved and faster product turnover. A bank transfer could take 3-5 days to clear while crypto (XRP for example) could be processed in minute/s. So imagine if the seller buys new items/stocks and doesn't have to wait for days before his payment is received by the shoe manufacturer, his orders would arrive earlier than usual, and possibly sell them sooner. The time saved could result in higher monthly sales/revenue.

If you're talking about on-site transactions, probably not that much. But for international transfers, crypto could help them reduce the fees on payment processors. If that's not suitable for them then there's really no need to force it. At the end of the day, just because one or two groups don't benefit from it, doesn't mean others won't find crypto helpful too. Especially for businesses like VPN services, digital arts, or similar stuff where sellers usually don't meet up with buyers.

Personally, I use crypto to buy my entertainment needs. I pay stuff like online gaming subscriptions with crypto, top-ups, gift cards, etc. I believe the sellers also find it a good option for them since they keep the option there.

Until cryptocurrencies are officially recognized as a means of payment, as we understand, there will be no direct benefit in daily use.

But there is a second "side of the coin":
1. investment instrument. High-risk, but with good potential. And like any high-risk instrument, it can bring a surprise in the form of huge "X's" to the amount of investment..... But it can also bring the same losses :)
2. Cross-border payments, e.g. using stablecoins. To parents, children, wife, friends,.....  - very fast, easy and cheap.
3. As a technology, studying which, it is possible now and with a high probability, tomorrow, to get an interesting and highly paid job.
4. Permanent additional income - airdrop, reward for promotion, signature campaigns at the end of the day :)

I like also the example with XRP. I find XRP one of the few cryptocurrencies with a real functionality within the economy.

Re online business... still... what are the benefits of using crypto instead of bank wires?
For example, for your enternainments - and thanks for sharing your experience - why do you pay with crypto instead of - e.g. - credit card... PayPal... or bank wire?

I wanted the best, but it turned out like this  ;D

In fact, the topic is “long-lived”, at least there is something to discuss, every point, there are also a lot of nuances, everyone has their own experience - both positive and negative. Moreover, the negative one is perhaps even more valuable! The positive one shows how you can theoretically earn money, and the negative one shows how you can definitely not lose it :)
Therefore, I propose not to close the topic, but to discuss everything that has already been said, in order to improve the competencies of the participants in the topic :)

This will basically depend on each individual. Even the crypto business does not limit anyone who can enter it, regardless of whatever profession. being a teacher doesn't mean he's not a cryptocurrency trader or investor. Likewise with other professions. In fact, if they were involved in an exchange, wouldn't that be better because it could increase their professional income, which may still be very small? not for direct transactions but for investing or short term or long term or trading even though it is not night trading. So it's not based on who's profession it is but on whether each individual wants to enter the crypto world or not

Everyone who owns a business, coffee shop and shoe shop can use crypto for transactions in e-commerce or they can provide payment options using crypto for transactions according to their wishes.

like Visa, some people use debit card type of transactions for payment, I think it is easier to use crypto if coffee merchants can provide this option to customers

Payment using cryptocurrency is an alternative option when traditional payments cannot be made. Cases like this will be effective when there is a currency war, so there may be restrictions or prohibitions on the use of certain currencies so that alternative payments can switch to cryptocurrency.

Very good point TT
Cryptos can be used as means of payment when traditional payment - for whatever reason - cannot be used.

For example, the partnership between Kinesis and several governmental agencies in Indonesia (https://kinesis.money/projects-indonesia/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwm66pBhDQARIsALIR2zAdVmALVG5v_tgOorFRcrsb30IHir8xh2-tw1t6I0fT6xAtaYF40LgaAhcDEALw_wcB).
I talked about it with user Dr.Beer in the thread Does crypto currency can save the economy? (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=191920.0)

According to statistics a considerable part of the Indonesian population - particular in the rural regions - is either unbanked or underbanked.
These people use the Persero, the Indonesian Postal Office in order to send money.
But everybody has a smartphone, so everybody will be able to use Kinesis gold-backed stablecoins.

Sending Kinesis currencies costs 0,45%
Converting gold/Indonesia Rupiah on the Kinesis Exchange costs 0,22%

Until today, those people weren't able to buy online, because being unbanked or underbanked they couldn't pay.
But if sellers has a Kinesis account, it will be possible for million of unbanked and underbanked people to buy online!

@Peter90, First of all, what I want you to understand is that crypto currency is not for everyone. What I mean is that crypto currency is not for those who don't think that they have any need for using it. Bitcoin is the most popular crypto on the market today, but do you believe that not everyone is using it?

From the list of people you have mentioned, you may feel that crypto doesn't serve any purpose for them, but you will find out what they think about crypto if you actually teach them what crypto is and also gift them some crypto assets.

What I am saying in conclusion is that Bitcoin and every other crypto can serve different purposes when they enter the hands of those who actually have good knowledge about what crypto currency is.

As a matter of fact, a grocery shop, a shoe shop, a car sale or repair shop, and any other business can decide to start accepting Bitcoin and crypto payments in their shop.

A nurse can decide to invest in crypto and will pass on the investment to their children or anyone else.

What you say is quite true. As long as cryptocurrency still has the potential to generate profits, it must be done, for example, by participating in airdrops or anything that gives you payment in cryptocurrency for what you have done. Because to make money, of course, you don't always have to come from the real world.

"Friendship". I want to have friendships across continents because perhaps only a few in my environment "understand" and have deep knowledge of cryptocurrency.
"Understanding" there is analogous to them rejecting the cryptocurrency business because it is full of ambiguity and this will be my motivation in the cryptocurrency space.
By continuing to be active on the altconstalks forum and continuing to learn about cryptocurrency from various people who really understand cryptocurrency, I will definitely have friends who are the same frequency.
It's not easy for me to continue being on the altcoinstalks forum because there are always obstacles and it takes up a lot of time for a mother who has a family and lots of real work, I always take 30 minutes or more to continue being active on the altcoinstalks forum so I can continue to make friends who Many people understand cryptocurrency.

... talking about inflation ...

@Peter90, I really like your topic, and the inflation data you provide. As you said, crypto has value of protecting people against the wave of inflation. Because of the way the current financial system works, money will continuously lose value faster than wages increase, which means we will buy less bread with each hour of work.

Investing is the only way to protect yourself from this, including investing in real estate, precious metals and even crypto.

We are experiencing slow inflation, but in some countries like Argentina or Venezuela, crypto is a good way to ensure that people's hard work does not evaporate overnight.

In addition to inflation protection, I'll offer some other possible uses:
+ Cross-border money transfer: I often used Western Union with a fee of a few %, now I often use USDT which is faster, simpler and many times cheaper.
+ Accumulate assets: in many countries like Vietnam, buying foreign currency is limited and requires a lot of docs, so buying USDT is the best option to protect assets when the local currency depreciates compared to USD.
+ Recruiting and working across borders: Stable coins are widely used for Freelancers, without needing to touch expensive methods like Paypal.

In addition, crypto is a currency maintained by the blockchain and serves the operation of the blockchain. If blockchain will be widely adopted in the future, it will support strong developments in society similar to how the Internet is creating benefits for everyone. Crypto will also bring benefits to everyone through blockchain applications: cheaper payments, more transparent degree storage, faster transfer of medical records, getting paid for viewing ads …

The answer is simple. Try to become a trader, an investor... If you have the desire. For other purposes, our market is not ready to fully accept cryptocurrencies.
The fact is that today cryptocurrency, no matter how unpleasant it sounds, is still a "commodity not for the masses". It's like shares of companies - traders trade them and make money on trades. They are bought by people as an investment. But the situation is a little better with stocks. They are already on the market, they already have a legal status, regulating legislation, and have become more accessible to "housewives". Although even now, and in this situation - hardly any of us can say "among my friends more than half of them buy shares, I invest, ....".

The time of mass consumption of cryptocurrencies has not yet come, but we are heading towards it, the path is thorny and difficult, but.... there is something to be pioneers for ! :)

"Friendship"
Beautiful answer Iyem! I didn't think it from that angle.
The answer is simple and has very deep meaning because with "Friendship" we can connect our lives.
There are many examples, with "Friendship" we can find a new job, additional work, expand our family or become business partners.
The "Friendship" in the Altcoinstalks forum is also very close, this will make us a harmonious family and continue to be in a good and friendly environment.
Cryptocurrency will give us space to continue to be "Friends" in the altcointalks forum, I, you, they continue to communicate with each other like a family having a warm conversation at home.

If you discuss investment with people who have grocery stores or tea shops, they will misunderstand you and think that their position is correct. Yes the position they are in or the business they are involved in is definitely good for them and they are satisfied with their business profits. It is not our responsibility to go to a grocer or a shoe store and talk about cryptocurrencies, but we can help them if they ever express an interest on their own. Everyone's time is valuable, so people who waste time should not be convinced about these things, who will not understand these things correctly, but will understand them wrongly. As long as you don't waste time trying to convince them of all this, it's good for you to try to learn more yourself.

First of all, there is no need to serve crypto to our people. I guess we can compare that to a seed; if we don't take the seed, it won't help us. So how can this help us? We need, take, or choose to take it; we should plant it to give us benefit at the right time we need it. But of course, we also need to till the soil before planting the seed.

So it's the same with crypto or Bitcoin; this is an opportunity we have if we try to use it to help us in terms of financial problems. Because if you have even a little doubt about it, it won't help you. But if you're positive about crypto, it means you'll learn all the things that can help us, but if you only think negatively, you won't get anything for sure. Because everyone who gains profit in crypto has positives to see here in cryptocurrency.

Thanks Spasybo

you confirm what I wrote in the thread Does crypto currency save the economy? (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=191920.0#lastPost) about the benefits of stablecoins for cross-border money transfer - particularly for migrant workers.

"Among Indonesians who often send money abroad, most are generally aware of the two primary costs in international transfers: the upfront transaction fee and the exchange rate. However, many are still unaware of the actual cost of remittances. Today, the global average fee of sending money abroad is at 6,3%. This means that transferring USD 1,000 (± Rp 15 million) to Indonesia still adds up to USD 63, equivalent to about Rp 1 million in fees.

While upfront fees are usually stated by providers, they often do not represent the total cost of the transaction. In fact, providers tend to add an undisclosed markup on the exchange rate, instead of using the fair, mid-market rate, resulting in consumers being unknowingly charged more than the initially advertised amount.

This issue recently became a topic of discussion on Twitter or X, after Ayudia Chaerani, also known as Ayudia Bing Slamet, an Indonesian actress, writer and musician, shared her experience of sending money abroad to her family and friends on the social media platform. “I remembered there was a time when I transferred money to my friends and family. I know there was supposed to be a fee but when the money arrived, it was less than what I received. If I had known about this, I would have found other ways to transfer money,” she tweeted."

6,3% transfer costs. Huge!
I don't know how much costs using USDT, but through the partnership between Kinesis and Indonesia's gov the transfer costs for Indonesian migrant workers will sink to 0,45%
They will spare over 90% transfer costs!

About your "We are experiencing slow inflation"... you made me curious so I checked out how high is inflation in Vietnam...  :D

WB = World Bank
UN = United Nations

There is data for 166 countries.
Vietnam is Nr. 150!
It means... 149 countries have higher inflation than Vietnam!
Only 15 countries have less inflation!

You live in paradise  :D

As a means of payment for them. I have had so many different stories of how store owners, shoe retailers, restaurants, etc use bitcoin as another means of payment for their business. Even in some countries, their pensioners would agree, for their government to pay them in bitcoin if the need arose.

Bitcoin can be used as a store of value, it can also be used in making fast and easy transactions in the comfort of one their without third-party involvement.

For ordinary people like we are right? To invest in Bitcoin for the future and to hodl it for a long time until we have our profits made in them depending on when we decide to trade on a particular price.

When third parties have started accepting payments using cryptocurrency, they are ready for losses or even profits that they can get because, so far, cryptocurrency price movements are not easy to predict, and of course, the third party must have enough money to cover when the cryptocurrency exchange rate collapses.  But I think if a third party wants to store assets in Bitcoin, then it could be a smart choice to get Bitcoin easily.

All things in the world will be useful only for those who can use them. Likewise, crypto will only be useful for those who understand crypto itself. So the answer is that crypto will not be useful for those who don't even know crypto. I know a doctor who knows crypto and I also know a doctor who doesn't know crypto. And I also know a grocery trader on the side of the road who knows crypto and I'm even friends with him and I also know a grocery trader next to my friend who doesn't know crypto.

Even a cash register will be of no use to a store that doesn't know how to use a cash register. But cash registers will be useful for stores that know how to use them. So from this analogy alone it is actually clear.

But when high inflation occurs in a country we have seen crypto adoption increase, such as in African countries and also in Turkey and many more are using bitcoin as a temporary hedge to save asset values from high inflation. So in certain situations crypto is useful in avoiding inflation in a certain period. But I doubt it in the long term because crypto asset fluctuations are also very wild. So for hedging, gold is certainly better.

That's clear, but what do you mean with understand crypto?
Is it just to know how send crypto to a wallet, and how to exchange it with fiat?
Than yes, you are right.
In order to benefit from cryptos people need to know those things.

But with understand crypto do you mean also the ability to earn money through trade?
To participate to airdrops?
To know what an ETF is, what a L2 and L3 network are, how stablecoins are pegged to something, what are proof of stake, halving, forking a blockchain, etc.
If you mean this, than no, in my view people can use cryptos even without knowing those things.

Think about money.
People use money. Every day. You, me.
Do we know what money is?
Monetary theories?
What impact the purchasing power of those banknotes?
What gives those banknotes value?
M1, M2, M3...
Theories of inflation...
Currency crises...
Money creation through the banking system...
Theories about interests...
Etc.

People don't think about those issues. They know nothing about them. And still, they use money. Everyday.

So, what are cryptos good for for people who don't want to earn money through crypto trading?

Well not everyone wants to understand crypto in detail. In fact, there are still many of us who cannot differentiate between Layer Zero, L1, L2 and L3. But everyone is used to using crypto for trading and investing. Because the goal is to make a profit. So just understanding crypto basically is enough. The most important thing is that they understand the risks and potential they are taking.

So, what are cryptos good for for people who don't want to earn money through crypto trading?

Crypto can even be used to move assets from abroad easily. And making overseas shipping limits can be avoided. and much more. Because actually crypto users don't just do it just to make a profit from trading. But there are many uses of crypto for other things.

I don't have the foggiest idea why it divides usage intentions into those two segments when both are included. I use crypto because they have allowed me to reduce international transfers (e.g.).

On the other hand, I do not know of any banking institution, at least in my country, that uses crypto for transfers.

And the last group that you disintegrate into the "fateful" idea of what they can do, there are the two cases mentioned above.

In any case, the adoption of bitcoin does not mean earning money, it does not mean making transfers, there are more things, people's knowing that cryptocurrencies exist will allow they to access a means of payment that will to access goods and services that perhaps you could not through traditional means, e.g.,  if you do not have a credit card.

I personally use it for payment, like many many other people, its really very easy. I have a work with someone, and I do my job, and he pays me crypto and we keep doing that all the time, I did find some other jobs back i nthe day that I worked at, hell even the signatures we have are getting paid in bitcoin as well, so its not really that complicated to figure that part out. I believe that its quite normal for all of us to have some payment reasons for bitcoin. I am not saying I do not trade, sometimes I do trade bitcoin and other alts, but that doesn't mean that its the main reason to use bitcoin at any possible way.

While we can generate everything necessary to pay with Bitcoin, it would be ideal, I don't know how this is contemplated, but the money in companies should be given thanks to the large amounts that can be given in fiat, but we do have bitcoin Can we pay it in Bitcoin without the government giving us a large penalty? It's not a question, it's more of a statement, because yes, obviously things are like that, unless you are in Europe in countries like Portugal where they have a free economy and you can do all these kinds of movements.

For some Peroans it is difficult, for third world Countries it can be paid , but how would a payroll payment be Reflected ? It would be Difficult , wouldn't it? but this is Something that should be appreciated, I am not one of those who are always looking for the best of things but it is necessary to quickly make it possible for bitcoin to be included in normal payments and for it to be Accepted in the jobs where we are.

When talking about ordinary people who are associated with cryptocurrencies, however, ordinary people must have an understanding of cryptocurrency first before they can conclude where they should be. Because after all, if they really don't have that understanding or aren't even familiar with crypto currency then it's true that this won't mean anything to them. In fact, they can only view and conclude crypto from a negative perspective based on what they get from the media that spreads it.

But this will definitely be different if they have started to dive in and understand cryptocurrency. and even if they are interested and they don't understand how to trade profitably, then long-term investment might be the most suitable for them. And of course this shouldn't be just any investment because there are lots of fake investments and scams that we can find here. That's why you must have prior knowledge and understanding not only of what coins but also where to invest safely.

Just think Bitcoin is the same as other digital money online you can do anything that you want to do the only difference is you have full control of your money and decentralized, unlike digital money that is controlled by banks all of them are centralized.

There are some local businesses like restaurants that accept bitcoin and there are also online sellers like Namecheap, purse.io, etc... they do accept Bitcoin and don't forget there are many gambling casinos out there that use not only BTC but also other Crypto.

2) decentralization

How can or could cryptocurrencies serve them?
It seems like you have negative thoughts but I appreciate your thoughts because I also initially thought negatively about cryptocurrency. ;D
OK, I will explain the needs of cryptocurrency in my life every day:
-I work in a clothing garment factory.
-I know cryptocurrency from my junior high school friends.
-I initially rejected cryptocurrency because the prices were always changing.
-But I tried it after I needed to earn funds besides working in a Garment factory.
-I tried to learn Bitcoin trading but I didn't understand and I decided to just look for funds from cryptocurrencies which is how I was able to be present on this forum until now.

For me, it was very difficult to understand cryptocurrency at first, but once you know it, it will be easy to understand.
Likewise, those who work in car repair shops or as nurses will definitely be confused at first but over time they will understand everything about cryptocurrency.

here are two rigs one ready to be filled with cards one filled with cards.

the empty rig is maybe $250-$300 on sale at eBay.
If I want to sell it. Since it is well under $750 value eBay has fairly good protection for the seller if the buyer is dishonest and returns a box of trash.
the rig with 7 cards is around $2200 I am really good with eBay been there for years. If I run into a dishonest buyer for this sale I need to swear out multiple police reports to get protection for a bad return. I can face a Credit card claw back for up to 6 months.

So I simply will not make a sale of the 7 card rig on eBay. If I sell it here or bitcointalk. I would likely sell it on bitcointalk as my reputation is perfect for sales. I would take a return if the buyer wants to return it but I would not pay the guy until I received it. So no one will try to return a box of trash. That is  real protection for me the seller.

understandable explanation.
Using cryptos is indeed a overall better solution in case of sellers with good reputation. I know of the same protection issue in precious metals forums, where established sellers are requested to send their items to unknown forum members/buyers.

Btw thanks for the picture too! I still have no idea what a rig is good for - it looks like a computer core to me - but at least now I know how a rig looks like  :D

Specifically - if I may ask - which cryptos do you prefer to be paid with?
I can imagine that you are flexible and adapt to the buyer preferences, but if you could choose?

We know that trading is not for everyone as it entails a lot of learning time so we can be able to manage the risks involved...and not all people have the interest for that. Now, aside from trading, crypto can be good for international remittance or sending a digital asset to someone in other countries with less fees and less cumbersome regulations. Aside from these two, one could get into cryptocurrency as a form of investment - just like gold or stocks - hold them and wait for them to get higher in value. Now, in places experiencing run-away inflation, getting into crypto can be a way to protect one's assets or wealth so crypto can be acting like a safe haven.

Your decision not to like Ethereum is not a problem for other people because it is only you who are doing it. However, you need to know that currently, many platforms are created on the Ethereum network. I would advise you not to like Ethereum alone, but not the network. It does have too much supply, so this will be high-risk and might become a time bomb because development and future prices depend on one human being named Vitalik Buterin.

Like many mentioned, its for making money and transactions. I have been working in the crypto industry for many many years now, and I am getting paid in bitcoin for my salary. People all over the world connect with bitcoin payments, I understand that you could also use Paypal, but that's the bank, PayPal may act like the yare not the bank, but you just move money around between banks, nothing more. If I want to pay someone with Paypal, what should I do? I need to put money from my bank to my Paypal account (or connect my card) and if they want to get paid, what do they need to do? Get paid to their bank. Without bank connection, you can't. In the crypto world, its a currency of its own, you can use it, without ever touching any bank accounts.

If you're not interested in trading then try to invest and hold or use cryptocurrency like bitcoin to hodl your asset or make payments in bitcoin as you may want it, there are many things we could divert the use and function of cryptocurrencies on our daily lives without being too dependent on a single approach for the uses, means of profitability asset, digital currency, means of making payment and many more.

If I'm not wrong then you are still holding Doge, BTC, LiteCoin, and a few others. I don't know which other coins you prefer over Ethereum and also whatever you said is true. We need to do all those things in our lives and for those we need to have some fiat cash.

Let's say if someone's 20% goes to crypto-investing while the rest should be allocated for daily needs then I think still that's going to be quite profitable in long term. By the way welcome to the forum. +1 Karma for your posts.

Yeah, I think as holder and investor are good way to gain profit in crypto world beside trading.
Trading needs experience and we can be expert, if already long time to do.
Skill in trading isn't instant.
Maybe we will loss several time to gain experience.

With experience, you will become an important teacher who can provide direction to get more profits from cryptocurrency. Imagine when you trade but don't know how to trade properly and correctly. Currently, futures trading has also become a feature to get profits quickly but also has a very high risk of loss, so you have to be careful when you want to trade in cryptocurrency; don't be easily influenced by the conditions at the exchange.

I think you should first learn how to trade correctly because, with trading, you can lose money instantly and also get instant profits. Trading requires a lot of patience to get maximum profits; without patience, it will be very difficult to control emotions. Usually, when prices fall suddenly, you might get emotional and make the wrong decision.

Exactly
This is a big win for those ordinary people and little businesses who - for whatever reason - don't want to touch banks.
Get rid of the dependence on the banks.

Save, manage, use your money without banks.

1. I would not be so optimistic about the phrase "People all over the world connect with bitcoin payments". Maybe you are talking about purely financial transactions, then yes. But for everyday life and daily needs, no.

2. Regarding PayPal. Yes, it is a convenient "off-banking system". But now I don't quite understand its value, if I have IBAN requisites for card accounts, with the help of which I can make a direct, cross-border transaction from my card to another card, and most likely with a lower fee.

agreed, we should leave  how to trade correctly and how to manage emotions.
Because trading need experience.
I personally often loss in trading but also gained big profit at several new coins.
TBH, I didn't like trade use top coins. It's annoying.
Because too long to gain big profit.
and I also didn't free time to follow market trend.
Prefer to be holder than trader.

Hi everyone !
I want to give a good example of a practical working solution combining real business and cryptocurrencies.

I entered this project about a year ago, because of which I did not have time to enter at the most favorable price :) Why did I enter late? I studied the documentation, checked the state registers all the data (ownership rights, history of owners, etc.), in order to be sure that it is not a "bubble".

For this project I have created several topics:
English: https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=318076
Ukrainian: https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=313331
Russian language: https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=313246

The essence of the project: agroholding, which owns 2000 hectares (about 5000 acres), attracts investments in cryptocurrency through the sale of its own token.
Each token is essentially a virtual share of the agroholding, on which dividends are accrued every quarter (at least 1 quarter of the token's "hold" must pass after the purchase in order for dividends to accrue*).
Both the purchase of the token and the accrual of dividends is done in USDT. Accrued dividends you can immediately withdraw and use at your discretion! Dividends can be withdrawn once a quarter, or for example once a year - as you will be more convenient.
I periodically (2 times a year) go to visit them, and check how the project is developing, and then form reports, as well as publish answers that I ask other participants (this is a kind of external, independent control).
At the moment I have received payments for 3 quarters (01/07/23, 01/10/23, 01/01/24), which I can confirm.

I also maintain independent analytics (thanks to blockchain technology and community - all data is open and transparent).

Features and advantages of this project:

* this model  has a quite logical explanation - it is an agroholding, where new investments are either a NEW crop or a new object like an industrial greenhouse, so in order for investments to start bringing income, it takes time to turn investment funds into a finished product and its realization.

Willing to answer questions, and provide other information !

What's the point of the existence of cryptocurrencies for them?

How can or could cryptocurrencies serve them?
As long as these people don't know about Bitcoin or cryptocurrency, I mean they don't have interests on it then it probably means nothing to them. But if they are taking part of it then they now have the chance to jump-in for possible opportunities or even having the perks of supporting crypto but that is not as easy as 1,2,3 because they still need to acquire enough knowledge same as what crypto enthusiasts do to familiarize the nature of this industry.

Those who like to take risks can use crypto as a means of storing savings, and if they’re lucky, as a means of earning money. Perhaps they can also use it as a way to transfer funds so as not to pay taxes, you may have to tinker a little to convert it to fiat, but the issue can be resolved. But I think more cannot be used at all.

For ordinary people crypto give privilege and lots of benefits . It can be use to store value with relying on traditional financial institutions. It's use as a payment method that's very easy to send and receive. Crypto can offer number of business the opportunity as well. It use to reduce the transactions costs, and increase transparency.

In a way you are right, there has to be lots of work done to be able to bring crypto utilization in most sectors other than in the hands of traders and financial institutions. There can be good utilization if its adopted in businesses, shops and stores like transparent transactions, irreversible transactions which can help reduce frauds and chargeback scams. Professionals can get paid in crypto quickly and without much interruptions. Other benefits as well as risks can also originate. But surely it can change the system in a good way. :)

Think of the woman at the market selling potatoes
Or your grandmother
They will never become crypto traders - just like me : )

So, if with possible opportunities you mean money making out of trading, forget it.
The perks of supporting crypto, you mean that potatoes seller offers the option of accepting cryptos as payment?
Okay, provided there are potatoes buyers willing to pay in crypto.
But now I'm interested in what benefits are there for potatoes buyers to pay in crypto  :D

Optimistic about everything that will happen to Bitcoin, who supports Bitcoin from the beginning and holds it until now will surely smile happily with the profits that have been obtained.

Being a trader or long-term holder it will give you profits.
But being a true holder of Bitcoin when the price of bitcoin is very cheap until now will provide huge profits.
There are many millionaires because of Bitcoin and they still own some of it today.

Not the cryptocurrency will serve people, but rather we, the people, if we think it will help us, will find out how it can help us. But if we think it's just a scam, like others think, it will never really help us.

Cryptocurrency is only for those who believe it will help them. It seems like there is no difference between a student who is informed and what he is studying; it can give them knowledge, and they will benefit from it if they use it correctly. It is the same with cryptocurrency: when you know it will help us, you will do the right thing
to know it.

We learn everything and our experience enhances as the time goes but we have to choose that path which has little risk and our little experience do not put adverse effect on our profit.

Absolutely yes bitcoin was not famous at start but now its success is developing more and more so this is a new kind of technology that help every individual to settle their financial system and to fulfil their financial goals.

Becoming holder is not a hard thing but becoming a successful trader needs time, money, knowledge and experience so if once a person involved in it he will learn all the things but if he has the power to control his emotions.

Because currently crypto is also widely used as a means of payment on various sites on the internet. I even buy and pay my internet bill or cell phone credit with crypto. I agree
cryptos can help ordinary people - for example - to protect themselves from the devaluation of their national currency.
Look at what is happening in Argentina!

"Argentines' efforts to preserve their savings amid the ongoing decline of their national currency, the Argentine peso (ARS), has resulted in the nation recently hitting its highest demand for Bitcoin in 20 months, according to a recent report.

On March 20, Bloomberg reported data sourced from cryptocurrency exchange Lemon Cash revealing nearly 35,000 customers in Argentina purchased Bitcoin in the week ending March 10, which is double the weekly average compared to 2023.

However, it was noted that Lemon wasn't the only platform seeing a surge in demand. Other major exchanges in Argentina, such as Ripio and Belo, reported similar trends.

Meanwhile, the use of digital currency for specific transactions is slowly gaining traction within the country.
In December 2023, Diana Mondino, the minister of foreign affairs, international trade and worship, claimed that a decree aimed at economic reform and deregulation would allow the use of Bitcoin and other cryptos in the country under certain conditions.

Following the ruling, a local landlord and a tenant in Rosario, the third most populated city in Argentina, sealed a rental agreement where the latter would pay monthly rent in Bitcoin."

If I talk about Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency, Bitcoin is completely decentralized. Anyone can invest without any hesitation. While there are restrictions on other platforms, people of different level can invest in this decentralized platform. This is the only platform where there is no discrimination. Anyone who wants to invest can take advantage of this. If a person is able to understand this platform well then he is definitely worth the investment.

It think what the OP is trying to point out is for those who haven't heard crypto or at least have businesses, ordinary people who are not technically inclined. To answer this, then if they are not aware then, we can't do anything about it. The issue here could be that if someone knows about crypto or BTC itself, have a business but then don't want to accept any crypto as a payment scheme. Maybe they are afraid of it's volatility as we haven't seen any big online stores accepting it for the time being.

It's better and simpler to trade because to become a cryptocurrency developer is not easy, you have to have a product that is very useful for society or maybe you can also develop NFTs. This means that it is better to trade in cryptocurrency because you only need to buy at a low price and sell at a high price. .

In fact, crypto has also been adopted in the gaming industry, and yes, we know that there are many games played by ordinary people that can earn money thanks to crypto. And governments have also used blockchain for the CBDCs they develop. So sooner or later everyone will feel the benefits of crypto, even those who don't know how to trade and invest in crypto.

Sorry to say but this is a very noob question to ask, and if I must answer, I would simply say that crypto currencies benefit every one and anyone who cares to key into it, crypto currency serves everyone, both the set of people you mention, they can not only trade crypto currency as a side hustle for extra profit aside the ones they make from their place of work or business, but they can also integrate crypto currency payment system into their business, allowing their customers more payment options from their goods and or services.

The teachers, the pensioners and so on, who receive salary or renumuration on monthly basis, can make a plan to invest part of that money in crypto currency, which will serve as an investment for them for future profits.

In the nutshell, crypto currency is not for a particular group of set of people, crypto currency is for everyone, anyone who decides to key into crypto will make money from it, as long as he or she knows what he or she is doing - it's that simple.

Most of what you mentioned is true; most of them have no idea. But there are a few people there who are familiar with crypto or bitcoin, and others may also know something about bitcoin or may even be part of it where we are.

And there are also a few merchants who are known and know something about bitcoin or crypto; that's why there are others who include bitcoin or cryptocurrency in their business as an option payment.

Apart from trading, you can use your crypto to gamble and make more crypto profits. For instance, if you have some Bitcoin you have been keeping idle for a while, you can decide to use some to gamble, that's if you know how to gamble. Instead of using fiat to gamble all the time, you can just gamble with the Bitcoin you have and this can get you more Bitcoin if you know how to gamble very well. The advantage of doing this is more appreciable when you do it in a bear market because you will earn big value of Bitcoin and when Bull run comes, you will make more profits, this is one of the ways you can utilize your coins.

He has no idea what PayPal is and how it works, but he can accept payment through PayPal.
He has his smartphone and have a PP account.
Maybe his daughter helped him to open the PP account and installed the app for him on his smartphone.

So, let's replace PayPal with cryptos.
In order to accept cryptos as payment, he doesn't need to be a crypto trader, right?
So, my question, is there some benefit for him from accepting cryptos?

I think you should first learn how to trade correctly because, with trading, you can lose money instantly and also get instant profits. Trading requires a lot of patience to get maximum profits; without patience, it will be very difficult to control emotions. Usually, when prices fall suddenly, you might get emotional and make the wrong decision.

Emotions are easy to control if you have experience otherwise it is difficult for newbies to minimize their loss. Trading is highly hazardous field and you will only get success when you spend years to learn and then enhance experience by bearing loss of some money at start.

If someone is so emotional that he cannot tolerate down prices then it will be better to initiate investment and if you learn well and realize that controlling your emotion is very necessary then turn towards trading.

I'm not a gambler, so I will choose hold and trade as my way to profit from bitcoin or altcoins. but it's nice to read your explanation about gambling, unfortunately I don't have any expertise in the world of gambling.

That's right, it's better that you never try gambling because it has very high risks and you also need quite a long time to always look at gambling places, it's better to do trading without having to look at market conditions.

Apart from trading and investment, crypto is now also adopted in RWA. And if we speak for ordinary people.

YES!!!
Tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), blockchain-based digital tokens representing real assets: Commodities. Real estate. Gold and silver.
This is probably what I was looking for.

So, let's take as example a token representing real estate, e.g. a building.
What could be the benefits of such a token?
What is it good for?
What is its add-on value?

I see that for ordinary people they see cryptocurrencies as a way to make money, there is no other way, that they can simply establish something that can be very necessary to implement as a savings, businessmen also, to be honest, there is no There are many people I have spoken with and they are not interested in crypto nor do they know it, so when I talk to them only about bitcoin, it seems expensive to them, but it is because they do not have that culture that they can see it as the best investment in the world .

In this aspect things can be very different, according to each person's criteria, because it may be the case that they want to see this as something good and that it will be for the future of their lives, it is not for everyone, you have to have the conviction that this will be for the future, and that if you invest in bticoin or any other crypto then there will always be risks.

It seems to ordinary citizens that cryptocurrency is only intended to make a profit because the price can rise in a matter of hours. This change maybe less than 1 hours up and down super fast in crypto market.
When I first learned about cryptocurrency, I was just looking for profit because I was tempted by the cheap price of Bitcoin and now it is very expensive. The essence of all this is that I personally only seek profit and nothing more than that.

Technology advancement has made it so easy and accessible for everyone to participate on crypto, these days now most of those common people are now into crypto and it has helped there life in different ways.
If the common people are being educated about crypto and how it works, then they can involve and see the importance of it. I have a friend who is a pharmacist, and speaking of crypto he is even doing better than most people in my area, he is even one of my mentors in crypto trading.

Not everyone must become a trader or a crypto trader just having the idea of crypto gives them upper hands to be digitally inclined and can make wise decision on the area's of their investment. They can pick interest to invest in cryptocurrency, after having the basics it's requires them to know. Overly, those who involves themselves digitally are always separate from real word investors, their reasoning and ways of life can't always be equate.

They are not night traders. They have no idea what Binance and Coinbase are and they not even think about trading cryptos.
Ordinary people.

What's the point of the existence of cryptocurrencies for them?

How can or could cryptocurrencies serve them?

I think this question has sparked curiosity before. From the people you just mentioned, it is indeed true that there are individuals among us who are completely unaware of the existence of cryptocurrency and exchanges. This is clearly not their fault, but we should understand that this new digital money advancement is a project that needs to progress stage-by-stage. If cryptocurrencies are to gain mass adoption, some will come across them on the internet, while others on TV, and still others through friends, etc.

Those who have yet to grasp what cryptocurrencies truly entail lack knowledge of current happenings, but that doesn't mean that they might not come across it in the future. There is still a long way to go, even though the prices of some coins are already massive. Cryptocurrency would surely benefit them once they learn about it.

Some people thought that cryptocurrency was made for fraudulent activities and scams but in reality it was made to hide the identity especially those people who have a lot of money. We all know it's very risky if people know that we are wealthy because we don't know what's in their mind. You know that money can control someone's mind. That's what I think crypto was made just to anonymize their identity for safety so that authorities or big people can't track them and they can live like normal people.

That's probably the worst advice to give to anyone. Why on earth do you believe that one can make more crypto with their crypto through gambling? Don't you know gambling is a luck-based thing and the odds are usually stacked against the gambler?

Gambling is only good for losing your crypto and have some fun time, but you can't consider gambling a way to make more crypto with your existing crypto, that isn't going to work because casinos are not out there giving charity to every single gambler that gets to them.

Yes, I agree, crypto is more suitable as anonymous, where people don't know our assets. Moreover, now there is a mixer and we can also make transactions on private coins such as monero, dash, etc. If crypto is for fraud, there are still many frauds committed outside of crypto. because fraudsters can do it anywhere

Many cryptocurrencies are used for criminal acts. All transactions in cryptocurrency are anonymous, therefore hackers really like cryptocurrencies. We should use Cryptocurrency for positive actions such as carrying out transactions to provide assistance to war victims or victims of natural disasters in different countries.

It is a decentralized currency, what more do you want from it? I mean you could make as much money from it as you want with the way you have right now, and none of that will change or make any big impact on it. If you consider it just for trading then you are already misunderstanding the purpose of bitcoin. We buy it not because it's a great way to make money (it is) but the main reason why it exists is that all of the fiat money that we used so far in this world has been up and down based on a government, and they can do whatever they want with it, whereas bitcoin can't be touched by anyone.

Everyone do not use cryptocurrency for criminal deeds but most of them are using it just for making their financial status stronger which is not possible with the help of single salary. It is true that some people are using crypto in wrong way but not everyone as there are lots of beneficial activities of crypto due to which people are a part of it.

Some people are in Struggle to hack the wallets of others but there is also a solution to every problem. If we are using crypto just with positive thoughts then very soon every country will give permission for crypto transactions and everyone will be able to earn good sum for their hardwork.

It's true, sometimes we don't know the exact function at this time regarding the existence of cryptocurrency for several fields such as education and the others you mentioned. Maybe currently cryptocurrency only serves other purposes, and its implementation in several fields has not yet been thought of.

But did you know, in the past, the front camera of a smartphone was only used for selfies... but now the face unlock feature has become more popular. Initially, no one thought about it before this innovation came through the thinking of human genius. So with the front camera, several other features will open by themselves.

Likewise with cryptocurrency, later we will know if its adoption is widespread enough.

This is true, but I think there is still a long way to go before practical use. They are trying to introduce certain aspects, but this is more out of fashion than technical necessity. Perhaps this is due to the fact that a cost expression has been attached to this. Drawing an analogy with a phone camera, no one pays no money when taking photos with your phone.

           -   The right time and period will also come when those people will also realize the importance of cryptocurrency in the future. Right now, they are benefiting from their professions, but time will also come when they can add crypto for sure as a financial solution.

I told you that if we just broaden our understanding, others will understand the function that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies can play in our lives.

It should be seen from this perspective, why they enter into loans from banks when in most of the cases that I know of, it is from the countries where they live in the recognized crypto world and can thus be used in the future for their investments. Yes, it is more risky, but the profit is much higher for the same money that would be invested in profiting. Either investment or holders.

This is just a myth that has been busted via various reports and more over crypto transactions are not completely anonymous even after mixing still government entities can track down the path and connect to the users if it's needed.

Cryptos aimed towards eliminating the middle men such as banks which itself can be the advantage over the traditional currencies.
