But in my opinion, in the long term, it would be better to invest in old coins that have been proven to be able to survive when the market crashes, because if new coins have not been proven to be able to survive then that is more risky too.

But that doesn't mean it's not allowed, but I'm just suggesting. It depends on our choice, if the results of our analysis say that the coin is worth investing in, then it doesn't matter whether it is new or old, as long as we are ready to take the risk.
Before making our choice whether to invest in old coins or new coins, we really have to do an analysis first, at least if we are unable to analyze then we do it or look at the history of the coin, good or bad if we invest in it. It's not easy to make a choice, but if we have experience it will make it easier for us to make a choice.
Experience will indeed be very valuable when we carry out analysis so that we can then make a decision, whether we will invest in that coin or not. Experience has its own space for us, because there are other things that help us in analyzing.

Not everyone has that advantage (experience), because experience requires a very long process and we get it not only in one or two months, one or two years, but more than that.
Experience is very important in the world of investment, especially in the crypto world where it is difficult for us to carry out analysis and research on projects. We also don't know who their team is, except for projects that have reputable teams. So with experience too, we can know when to enter and sell

So, it just came to my mind, since I was recently looking at some crypto coins/tokens in coinmarketcap, I see a lot of pepe variants, and I'm thinking how many people are aware of OG Pepe? I am not saying it's disrespectful, but it's good that it's still being pushed by the name of PEPE.
If I talk about DOGE now, there's a lot of variants there, that you can just type doge in cmc, there'll be a lot of results of memecoins.
not interested in any Memecoins now but Dogecoin and SHiba Inu and about PEPE? have been seeing many connecting into this one but for me ? have seen this many times before
that these type are just a Pump and Dump.

But anyways, moral of the story is that some OG memecoins aren't moving in price or got abandoned by real devs. So some devs literally go with their own name,  add OG names into it ; making old communities come up to make it up to the top by raiding and mainly if you can make profits with it without being greedy. Am I right?  :) Also wondering how many of you invested in memecoins last time? Or did you quit too soon?  :P
we are waiting for the Bull market before seeing them grows , remember that it is Bitcoin that must start first before altcoins moving grow.

Those wallets and services that give privacy to the users will always be disliked by the feds and other top authorities.

Samourai Wallet was seized because they might have got something against them but it could also be true that the seized it just by representing it as a money laundering protocol.

Who knows which service that's available to give privacy to users will be targeted next time. I'm not sure what's going to happen next but I believe we may hear some news this year again.

Why it is possible the DOJ might rule wallet transactions as unregistered money transmission

If you have not been out of the loop, you will have heard the news that Samourai Wallet was seized by the US government yesterday. Two people running the project were arrested as part of that, and they have been charged with (you guessed it) money laundering and operating an unregistered money transmission business.

That is what the indictment says (and I got the excerpt from over here).

Quote
COUNT TWO
(Conspiracy· to Operate an Unlicensed Money Transmitting Business)
The Grand Jury further charges:
31. The allegations contained in paragraphs 1 through 28 of this Indictment are
repeated and realleged as if fully set forth herein.
32. From at least in or about 2015 up to and including in or about February 2024, in the
Southern District of New York and elsewhere, KEONNE RODRIGUEZ and WILLIAM
LONERGAN HILL, the defendants, and others known and unknown, willfully and knowingly
combined, conspired, confederated, and agreed together and with each other to commit an offense
against the United States, to wit, operation of an unlicensed money transmitting business, in
violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1960(b )(1 )(B) and (b )(1 )(C).
33. It was a part and object of the conspiracy that KEONNE RODRIGUEZ and
WILLIAM LONERGAN HILL, the defendants, and others known and unknown, would and did
knowingly conduct, control, manage, supervise, direct, and own all and prut of an unlicensed
money transmitting business
, which affected interstate and foreign commerce, and (i) failed to
comply with the money transmitting business registration requirements under Section 5330 of Title
31, United States Code, and regulations prescribed under such section, and (ii) otherwise involved
the transportation and transmission of funds that were known to the defendants to have been
derived from a criminal offense and were intended to be used to promote and support unlawful
activity, to wit, RODRIGUEZ and HILL conducted, controlled, managed, supervised, directed,
and owned all or part of Samourai, a business that transferred funds on behalf of the public, without meeting the Federal registration requirements set forth for money transmitting businesses...

Now let's get the ducks in a row:

- Samourai Wallet was not a company, it was an open source project.
- The Whirlpool coordinator was software that ran on their computer servers, and was not ran as a business.
- The primary function of Samourai Wallet is a bitcoin wallet, not to transfer money on behalf of random users.
- CoinJoins are not money transmitters in the same way that regular Bitcoin transactions are not money transmitters.

So, given that Samourai Wallet is just a bitcoin wallet, that performs Bitcoin transactions, and the government is hell-bent on winning the case, then this might cause them to rule that bitcoin wallet transactions are unregistered money transmitters and are hence illegal.

What do you think of this? Do you think the DOJ will go that far? Or do you think they will hand out some other kind of charge? Do you think they will win the case?

I have been thinking what it would be like to have privacy in a few years from now, would it be completely impossible?

I believe that it will be as always, the more you press something, the more resistant it becomes.
Increasing pressure on privacy will probably provoke more sophisticated methods to protect it.

Ethereum Forum / Re: Eth hold or Trade?
« Last post by de_prof on Today at 02:46:52 PM »

When more and more people buy Ethereum like what you wrote, it makes me even more confident that an Ethereum ETF will be launched soon. They have already bought Ethereum at a cheap price and are just waiting for the next step to wait for the price to rise due to the influence of the Ethereum ETF.
There are some who think that an ethereum ETF will be difficult to approve, because the supply is too large. And some also have their own opinions, confident that the Ethereum ETF will be approved. We'd better wait until May, whether the SEC will approve or reject it. Can also be pending

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Do you still believe in old coins?
« Last post by de_prof on Today at 02:44:20 PM »

I have investments both new and old. According to my knowledge an investor should not only invest in old coins or only new coins but any new or old can be profitable for the investor. New coins have more hype due to which investors can get quick profits. But not all new coins can generate the hype. It is possible to get profit by investing in some new projects that have strong fundamentals. On the other hand, there are some older coins that lead the entire crypto market. Especially Ether BNB and Tron which are known as profitable platforms for investors. However,  in new coins investors generally get quick profits but in old coins they have to wait a long time after investing.
Yes, new coins will make us gain profits faster and don't forget that new coins will also give us greater losses. If we don't have a good analysis of new coins, we will get bad coins, isn't it difficult to predict whether this coin will be hyped or not?

Sponsorship deals must be disclosed, when somebody is being actively paid for extra activity, like in Kim's Instagram case they also must disclose that depending on the law, since we're talking about lending their name for tokens on FTX a shitload of extra paperwork. If they have breached what was supposed to be an add and user they brand to also promote FTX in particular cases they are good for the money.

However, it is one thing if you rent your name to a sponsor, and another thing entirely is how that same sponsor manages the funds of his clients. I'm pretty sure neither is Kim Ka. nor did any celebrity or even Mercedes come to FTX and suggest that they buy some trash tokens with investor funds.
