Title: Gridcoin
Post by: Flodner on January 23, 2018, 10:46:14 PM
Hello,
Who also use, admire Gridcoin?

Gridcoin is one of my favorite cryptos.
I would even suggest you to make a separate sub-section which you have for other cryptos:

Coinmarketcap:

Some Facts about Gridcoin:

1) Gridcoin is mined by Proof of Research: completing research work for real organisations and universities, which are working to tackle real problems. You have full control what projects you contribute to with your machine.

2) Secured with POS
Investors are rewarded for securing the blockchain through a Proof of Stake mechanism. They are paid 1.5% interest per annum on their holdings alongside any research earnings.

3) Gridcoin has strong communities on Steemit and Reddit

4) Using Gridcoin and setting up mining is so easy that even non-tech people can easily do it

I think this coin should be supported as long as it has some genuine real usage value.

Thanks for posting about Gridcoin :)

There's a lot to it for new people though and honestly and while its a cool concept its execution leaves a lot to be desired.

BOINC research - well it is easy to set up and run and then most likely you need to register for the pool otherwise you won't get far unless you have amazing mining rigs - but the wallet. Well its utterly awful.
I keep mine open for staking, of which nothing ever goes through because I usually end up forking away from the main chain after a few hours and then the nice little fork I'm on - well that doesn't pay stake rewards... Of course - you then rebuild the chain to try and fix... that doesn't work but it takes so long you wonder off only to come back hours later to find its still not fixed. So yeh, if like me - you get a completely useless wallet situation happening - POS is a no-go lol.

Still - even with all that wallet drama - i can't seem to stop BOINC'g and that all goes thru fine. Look for aliens with SETI, Crunch some PrimeNumbers or map the MilkyWay - its my tiny little contribution to science :)

Gridcoin with a Proof of Research concept have already the initial run among the similar concepts around the crypto industry. Anyway this is a good coin to check and study the whitepaper, this shows that we really need to research each coin or token that we have interest on investing to.
