I think what he meant by that is being mentally prepared is one factor to increase the chance of winning. There's no way that this is the only key to always win in gambling. Let's look at the opposite side of this. When you are feeling sick, do you think your brain can function properly? When you are drowsy or you're lacking energy because you already played for hours, what is the likelihood that you're going to make silly gambling mistakes? I'd say pretty high.
