Cryptocurrency Trading / Re: Just HODL
« on: January 21, 2024, 09:19:31 PM »
Each person has a unique risk/return appetite, so they often make different Hold and Sell decisions. Similar to potential stocks of Amazon, Apple or Meta, Bitcoin has increased in price a lot in the past 10 years and made many investors regret it. The same thing may happen again in 10 years when we will think about the present moment.
If we could go back in time, many people would want to buy BTC when it didn't have value,

ah yes hindsight is 20/20 vision. without that perfect vision alot of people were very skeptical of Bitcoins future back in the early days, even people who were hodlers, at those key prices at the times $10, €100 et-cetra there were alot of people who could t see it reaching those marks but there were a few who believed in Bitcoins future, we just have to believe too.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Bitcoin ETF Officially Approved

finally after all the speculation, hype and false positives its real. the big boys have entered the bitcoin market.

should we be afraid or should we celebrate?

Yes, that is the good question we might be dealing in the coming days...whether the approval of Bitcoin ETFs will be good for Bitcoin and the whole crypto industry or will it be a catalyst for something else? Anyway, for now, maybe let's us first celebrate though I find it a little bit concerning that BTC price seems to be not so excited for this BIG news. In the next few days, we can clearly see where the market is headed in response to this new development.

I would say there is a bit of market manipulation going on ATM, we had a rise and then a fall which would suggest a clearing out of some long positions.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Fee Finally Down below 40 Sat/vb
« on: January 06, 2024, 12:36:59 AM »
anytime there is a drop in price there seems to be a drop in the transaction fees, this is what i'm experiencing so i wait for price drops to move my coins.

the down side is that if they are on an exchange they have to sit there longer than i would ordinarily like.

no doubt there will be bureaucratic stubbornness and making changes by executive order might end up happening but it would be great to see if he can achieve his goals by diplomacy and winning a majority approval.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Who Called Bitcoin Fraud, But owns Bitcoin today?
« on: January 02, 2024, 07:09:12 PM »
ah ha - good one OP

this is the man i think who first compared bitcoin to the tulip craze back in 2017 which happened in the Netherlands in the mid 1600's
these people dont deserve to have bitcoin, they will buy up great quantities of it and it will dissapear never to hit the markets for a very long time.

https://www.reuters.com/article/legal-us-usa-banks-conference-jpmorgan-idUSKCN1BN2PN/

so many great quotes which have at this stage come back to bite him

Quote
"The currency isn't going to work. You can't have a business where people can invent a currency out of thin air and think that people who are buying it are really smart."

Quote
Dimon said that if any JPMorgan traders were trading the crypto-currency, "I would fire them in a second, for two reasons: It is against our rules and they are stupid, and both are dangerous."

Quote
Dimon said that one of his daughters had bought some bitcoin. "It went up and she thinks she's a genius now,"

Quote
"It is worse than tulips bulbs,"

Quote
Dimon predicted big losses for bitcoin buyers. "Don't ask me to short it. It could be at $20,000 before this happens, but it will eventually blow up." he said.

Quote
"Honestly, I am just shocked that anyone can't see it for what it is."

Bitcoin Forum / Re: What do you think should happen to ordinals?
« on: January 02, 2024, 06:57:12 PM »
Ordinals become something impossible to ignore. We are hitting avg fees over 500 sat/vbytes in some blocks.

On one side, people are saying they are just spamming the network.

On the other hand , freedom is important.

Personally, I would say that bitcoin transactions are more important than storing jpeg in the blockchain

What do byou think?

Bitcoin was built to be censorship resistant to any jurisdiction or a person or any government and that was in part of Satoshi's vision to build any form of JPEG spam on the blockchain but as an open source for development where it is needed. If not for NFTs that brought this crazy disaster, no one in the Bitcoin community would have accepted this idea but it is making money for miners who control the security, they will call it development which I see as nothing because if JPEG couldn't survive in any other chains, what is that special thing will they offer here than spamming the mempool. To say that NFTs are not even trending much like before in alternative chains says how quickly this will die but let them continue to burn their money for transactions, everything will soon unfold and clear.

I believe if all mempool chose to ban any inscribed transactions, half of our problems with transactions will be solved but I think many are focused on the upcoming halving and what new price bitcoin will bring to the market. Perhaps they will raise a motion to remove it after the halving or after the bull run to stop these fanzines of JPEG

censorship resistant is very important on the bitcoin blockchain so "censoring" ordinals goes against this fundamental created by Satoshi.

personally i dont get the whole ordinals thing, same for the NFT craze which imo seems to have petered out. i think in time the ordinals thing will run its course and some people will have done quite =well out of the craze while others manty will be left with a bunch of silly JPEGs

so i say leave things as they are - they are actually part of the bitcoin blockchain and hopefully they will be a thing of the past - - - - soon

and also from what i have read, their websites and platforms are extremely well put together and presented in a very legitimate way to try and ensnare as many people as possible.

i dont know anyone who makes new year resolutions anymore and i dont know anyone who has ever stuck to their resolution once made in January 1st.

i made resolutions in the past but never qas able to stick to them, i think i am with the majority of people!

an entrepreneur to me is someone who is self employed or sole trader of a small business. a hard worker willing to put in the time and effort in order to grow the business.

an entrepreneur could also be a successful business person who is willing to try something different to what has been already successful, someone willing to take a risk in the belief that it will work out.

General Discussion / Re: Something evil is brewing ...
« on: January 01, 2024, 05:06:43 PM »
maybe the incoming bitcoin halving is floating all boats as the saying goes.

there is more interest now in bitcoin and crypto because of the expectation of big prices so people hopefully will want to talk, discuss and learn more about what is going on.

also what about the new signature campaigns for the mixing services, could they be attracting more activity?

Talk about crypto is getting more and more widespread also in more popular news (at least that is the case in my country) because of the increase in price. Besides that, having more and more signature campagins will definitely ramp up the activity on this forum

for sure but there might come a time where people are only signing up to get rewarded and maybe not too interested or sincere about whats going on in the forum, idk maybe that wont be the case at all and the chances are more people + more bounties = a livelier community

getting rewarded is fine imo but its healthier for the forum if there is decent content and discussion then it balances out

General Discussion / Re: Teleported and original discussion
« on: January 01, 2024, 04:58:37 PM »
this is probably the best suggestion I have read on this thread. to be fair about migrating onto this forum en-masse the campaign membership should have been divided between native and teleported accounts.

It is not about dividing places in any campaign, it is about building the campaign which will be the most effective for a project. I know some managers for long enough and I've talked to some during this situation: they are very interested in the most noticeable users of AltcoinsTalks who was here for long, so they evaluate posts of "originals" and if they see interesting ones they definitely take them into campaign. But campaign participation isn't anything guaranteed, so not each and every will ever take part in it. And there's no real difference between "teleported and original". Try to be better than average, if other users will notice you, your chance to be in some campaign will grow. And demanding some quota for you just reduces your chance.

thats good to know that "all" good posters are considered.

personally im not applying for bounties or signature campaigns, im only new here and just want to find my way without the pressure of "having" to post but yes i do understand your points.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Online Crypto Courses
« on: January 01, 2024, 11:18:11 AM »
the bitcoin courses at saylor.org are not necessarily narrated by Michael himself. the courses are not anything like his interviews where he is expected to give the investor and FIAT v bitcoin analogies and ideas which we have become so used to seeing.
This seems good. Frankly, I did not read the contents of the site, but I bookmarketed it and will read it later. I attended some events that Michael was at and I did not like his way of introducing Bitcoin, so I hoped that saylor.org topics would be a little away from his ideas.
Thank you.

ah, not a problem!

i would say there is a love/hate relationship with Michael Saylor, you either love him or hate him. he uses alot of analogies to describe bitcoin and its mechanisms and applications.

personally i have a love/hate opinion of him

i love how he has been able to communicate what bitcoin can offer
but
i hate what he represents for our space buy attracting big institutional investors

good news, i believe there are already spot ETF's in existence in Europe, for example by Jacobi Asset Management and Hong Kong looking like approving one sends a message of sorts to the SEC.

There is alot of attention on the SEC purely because of the BlackRock application because they are the largest asset managers in the world. their approval will be M A S S I V E

The securities regulator reportedly told them to update their filings by Friday to be included in the first wave of spot bitcoin ETF decisions in early January.

so in a week or two we will finally know the outcome on the SEC's decision.

i'm trying not to read too much into the fact that the SEC are actually discussing the various applications with the respective asset managers and allowing them to make amendments to them and resubmit but this can only be a positive thing ?

and that multiple spot ETF's will be approved?

but yea I dont want to think too much about it
