Economics , Sociology & Politics / Re: Why do we pay taxes?
« Last post by DrBeer on Today at 10:42:54 AM »
What makes one a bonafide citizen of a country is when they stay out of crime and pay their tax. A citizen not paying tax simply means they are not in support of the government towards the country's development and infrastructure. The income generated from taxes paid goes along with footing some government bills. It would not be an idea for someone who calls themselves a bonafide citizen of a country to refuse to pay their tax and blame the government for not performing their duty in infrastructure development

I partially disagree - there are many groups of people who for one reason or another simply cannot pay taxes, but this does not mean that they do not support the country. For example: under-age people, pensioners, people with disabilities, people who are unemployed, etc. so-called "social groups of people".  And it is the taxes of other people that allow the state to provide financial support to such groups of people, and this is normal - this is how the state system works. Yes, there are nuances - the balance of tax generators and consumers of social programs. Or corruption....

And criminals are those who purposefully, deliberately, receiving income in the country, do not pay taxes.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: SHOULD I CARE ABOUT BITCOIN HALVING
« Last post by dwyane36 on Today at 10:42:43 AM »
Maybe I’m wrong somewhere, but this information is in the public domain, even if I agree with you, I can cite as an example the fact that very few bitcoins are already being mined because more than 90% of them have already been mined, you yourself wrote that in the forties there will be, yes there will be only a small, very small part of bitcoins, I will not mine only if the bitcoins are already betting several million dollars, but will you have such a price for Bitcoin?

If we look at the BTC price after the previous halvings, we can see that the difference was huge each time. Now, it's even hard to imagine the BTC price in 2040 and beyond. I'm not sure if the BTC price may be a few million by then, but a few hundred thousand dollars for sure it will be. By the way, if BTC reaches ~$800k, it will equal the gold by market cap.

Yes, exchanges can freeze our funds for their own reasons, considering it money laundering or suspicious transactions. and we can also appeal to this matter. I agree with your suggestion, we should use the funds we need to trade on the exchange, don't store excess funds in the exchange wallet.
There are some cases of freezing the user funds but it is a rare case. Sure, money laundering is one of the examples, this makes sense that the exchanges freeze the funds. I think this won't happen to common users, it is for certain users only. However, it is true that we never send too much money on the exchanges. We must be aware that we have no control of our assets when it is in the exchange wallets.

No point in having an ANN thread if the whole website is down with a 502 Internal Server Error  :(

It is also suspiciously timed as well!

Edit: I think it is being DDoS attacked. Some other mixers are down too. I will try TOR mirror.

Edit 2: TOR mirror doesn't work either. Doesn't look like a DDoS attack.
I confirm this, the last time I access the service was on 04/27.

Fed fund rates remain unchanged
On May 1, 2024, The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) voted unanimously to maintain the target fed funds rate in its current range of 5.25-5.50%, citing ongoing concerns over high inflation. In fact, the US Fed interest rate has remained unchanged since July 2023 and the central bank indicated there will unlikely be a rate hike in the near future. Such continuous has been stirring across global markets and various assets.

How do Fed rates impact investors?
Investors might get overwhelmed every time Fed announces interest rate since it usually comes with market volatility and fluctuation. In this situation, it’s always a good habit to focus on asset allocation.  Before that, investors should have a fully understanding of their current finances, risk tolerance, and investment goals. Currently, high interest rates tend to be a headwind for many investments. Certain holdings are feeling the effects.

- Borrowing costs. High rates lead to higher borrowing costs which can affect the affordability of mortgages, reducing demand for real estate and impacting property values
- Fixed-income investments. Such as bonds and Treasury securities. Newly issued bonds generally offer higher yields. Holding old issued bonds can potentially lead to capital losses.
- Stock market. Particularly growth stocks that highly rely on capital for future business expansion. High rates will impact companies’ stock prices because of the difficulty of obtaining capital and earning.
- Higher yields on savings accounts. In a higher rate environment, banks raise annual percentage yields on savings accounts which benefits savers.

What investors should do?
The sustained high rate environment is a reminder for investors to carefully evaluate their portfolio allocation. Whether investing in the short term or long run, investors might as well take a look at their personal finances and make the necessary moves of diversifying their assets like finding high-yield savings accounts and certificate of deposit for long-term holding. As for short-term investment, one of the options is contract for difference (CFD) trading. It provides opportunities for short-selling, allowing investors to profit from downward price movements in assets affected by high interest rates. Plus, leveraged trading in CFDs can amplify potential returns during period of increased market volatility resulting from high interest rates. Additionally, CFDs can be used as hedging instruments to mitigate risk in a portfolio, providing partial offsets to potential losses.

An established CFDs broker is JRFX. Operating since 2010, JRFX offers traders competitive spreads and provides one of the best trading environments within the industry. JRFX requires only a $1 minimum deposit to start trading on currencies, indices, commodities, and more. It is popular among traders for its user-friendly interface, 24/7 customer service, and abundant educational resources.

The information provided is for informational purposes only and should not be considered as financial advice. Trading CFDs carries risk, and investors should carefully evaluate their risk tolerance and conduct independent research.

Bitcoin News & Updates / Re: Roger arrested
« Last post by ABCbits on Today at 10:33:30 AM »
I don't know whether Roger Ver actually do something wrong, so let's see what will he do in defense.
I am impressed how come this guy was free all those years after scamming so much people with that bitcoin cash (which is neither bitcoin nor cash)

He is a big scammer imo. He could have created his fork, but he didn't need to call it the real bitcoin and use bitcoin.com  to spread lies about it etc..

I was talking whether he actually perform tax fraud or not. But when we're talking about his BCH promotion and bitcoin.com, he's definitely was in wrong. After all, he trick people into buying BCH when people think they buy BTC. In addition, there were some complain that people send BTC to BCH address or BCH to BTC address.

Don't let us regret it in the end because we carelessly chose the airdrop. Don't just because we are looking for free tokens or coins, we actually lose the assets we have in our wallet, that is very detrimental.
In order not to happen badly, as airdrop hunters have to separate between the main wallet and the wallet used for airdrops, it is even mandatory because now many scammers give traps to dApps that are deliberately made to do the drained wallet method.

Not only on Twitter, wherever airdrops originate it needs to be vigilant and don't carelessly connect wallets.
Make sure everything is safe and see how others recommend before working on it.

To get a real answer to this question, we need to "dig a little deeper". First, we need to understand the role of money. The role in an object called the STATE.
We often confuse the simple exchange of money<->goods, thinking that the whole financial system is aimed only at this. And this is the main misconception, assuming that cryptocurrency will replace real money.
In the paradigm of a simple money<->good exchange process, money can be replaced by anything ! For example cowrie shells, glass beads, skins, .... anything that has already been there before today.) But real money in the real economy is not only an equivalent of value, it is also fuel for the economy, it is a mechanism for the realization of state obligations to the population, it and forced manipulations ...
And now the key question, which will allow you to get an answer to the question in the title of the topic, can a decentralized financial system, on which the government has no influence and control, to realize all that realizes fiat, or even CBDC, the financial system of the STATE ?

PS No one has yet been able to outline and describe to me how the economy will work (in the modern paradigm, and in the existing rules and principles) on a decentralized monetary system without controlled emission. Maybe someone can ? :) If yes - this person has a great future !

Cryptocurrency Trading / Re: Simple practices to improve trading.
« Last post by bitbit97 on Today at 10:30:40 AM »
I see first advice in the list is practicing in demo account, but I dont it is worth spending a lot of time on it. It isnt hard to get familiar with what each button on exchange page does and what is where in UI. I dont know why, but all my experience with demo accounts or demo gambling is me always winning or ending with profit. But as soon as I switch to "real money", my trades become ineffective or unprofitable, even though I am doing all the same. Or lets take other advice - when you fail in trading, return and search why you have failed. I have bought dogecoin few years ago. Now its price is lower. Its price never grew significantly. What is my mistake? Bought it on wrong time? But what was correct then? Nobody cant predict where is bottom.

Demo trading or demo accounts not only let you understand the functionalities of a platform or what each button does, but you can use a demo account to practice your trading experience such as reading charts, using indicators to predict the future outcomes of each cryptocurrency, and practicing the strategies that you have learned so that you can use those strategies when you start making real trades.

A demo account might not make you perfect, but it will at least make you better in terms of utilizing multiple features and techniques that you can use as a trader in the future, and it will save you from unnecessary losses that you might incur if you start trading immediately without any practice.

Ok, I have spend 5 minutes maximum to understand how each and everything works on exchange. I have played with demo account and became an adept of trading, who closes every order with profit. But why when I switch to real trading, everything is different? In short, in demo mode, everything most of the time goes up. This rarely happen IRL. I mean what can I train for a long time, if the best strategy is "buy low sell high" and all I have to do is to wait for price to grow. Demo accounts does not teach patience. Crypto world news and announcements does not influence on demo account. So why then give so much attention to it?
