Forum related / Re: Bumps need deleted
« on: Today at 06:40:39 PM »
I don't know, ask admin.
We have been talking about that for months in several topics, so I don't know how you could miss that.
Maybe admin is thinking many members will try to scam and abuse something in forum by deleting their posts.

The admin said in a post (which I can't find now) that the delete posts option was disabled to prevent possible spam that some users could generate by abusing that feature. With this in mind, I think it would be positive if this feature were available to users with a rank of Sr. Member (since that rank is the first that can send positive and negative karma) and above.

Users who do not have the minimum necessary rank can burn some tokens or ask a moderator for help deleting posts.

Bugs & Tech support / [Error] Connection problems
« on: Today at 04:01:12 PM »
As the admin suggested, I'm writing this thread reporting the latest error message I had while browsing the forum.

Today at 12:55 (3 hours ago) this error appeared while browsing the forum.

After trying to refresh the page several times, it reconnected without problems after 2 minutes.

I use the Tor network, but in this case that should not be an aggravating factor for receiving that error.

I remember i saw this distro long time ago, but it seems it haven't release new version on very long time. So IMO we shouldn't mention it to beginner.

I only talked about that distro as a curiosity within the world of Bitcoin and Linux, at no time have I recommended it. I'll say it in other words. This distro has not received updates for several years, in fact, the last stable version was: Distribution Release: BitKey 14.2.0 - 2017-05-23.

If you read my previous posts in this thread you will see that I always talk about what I do, but I don't tell anyone what decision they should make.

BitKey Linux is not secure since it has been without updates or development for 7 years.

If investors use licensed Windows instead of cracked versions, everything will be more secure, and investors also need to avoid malicious websites. I am also a Windows user and was attacked in the bull run 2017, after which I switched to using Ubuntu to access my accounts on blockchains through wallet applications. Ubuntu's Terminal and sudo are really more secure than Windows for the purpose of protecting private keys.

One good thing is that Ubuntu is completely free, which means that users can easily install it to effectively manage their accounts instead of facing many risks through Windows  8)

Cracked versions of Windows are not insecure just because they probably already have malware installed, they are also insecure because it is Windows, with its good things and its bad things. I use Debian (sometimes Kali) and BSD, and I like them better than Ubuntu in terms of security. Ubuntu, from my point of view, wants to be like Windows in terms of ease of use, and that means it has too many unnecessary additions. I have never had security problems with my cryptocurrencies, that's why I've always said that the learning curve (which is really small) is worth it.

If anyone wants to know more about Linux and Bitcoin, they can take a look at a distro called BitKey: BitKey - Secure Bitcoin Swiss Army Knife.

XRP - Ripple Forum / Re: Can XRP hit $100?
« on: Today at 07:58:45 AM »
You right sir, if considering the One Hundred Trillion as the total supply then $5 could also be very difficult achieved except there is some reduction in the coin, let say reducing to around One Trillion or Eight Hundred Billion with this reduction there would be hope for the price to get to that extent we have been speculating.

That would be another possibility. If a (considerable) part of the total supply of XRP were burned, there would be a good chance of reaching much higher values than today. However, I have never seen Ripple talk in that sense in the years that their product has been on the market. But it would be a good move (and an unexpected turn for the holders) and an added value that could see XRP reach new heights. Anyway, I don't think it's something planned, but it would be interesting to see the effects of something like that.

I understand that many candidates would usually promise this and that...but if you think that Ross Ulbricht is deserving to be pardoned then in between the two old men running for the White House this November - Trump and Biden, the former and the current - it is Trump that will likely do something on this subject if ever he is given another chance by the American voters...and it can be because Biden has never promised for it and we know that Biden is less friendly to the cryptocurrency industry and the players on it. At least, these libertarians would have something to demand in case Trump can be back as the 47th POTUS as one can never demand it from Biden who never promised such a thing.

Basically that's what politics is about (in addition to causing 99% of the problems suffered by the population), telling people what they want to hear and then doing what's least convenient for them, that shouldn't surprise anyone. Trump knows that there are more cryptocurrency users in the United States every day, and logically his intention is to obtain the greatest number of votes possible in each niche, and he knows that pardoning Ross Ulbricht would be a key point on his path to the White House. Trump is well aware of the growth of cryptocurrencies in the world and will not take advantage of that growth by only accepting donations in cryptocurrencies.

Very interesting article that talks about this topic: 40% of American adults now own crypto.

Thanks, i appreciate the assistance.

You are welcome.

While reading the OP, I was thinking of the possible power interruption in the area as the reason why they said the mining company could pose a security risk but then I noticed it's Chinese. That is all we needed to know. No need to think about crypto and blockchain technology.

I'm not entirely sure, but I imagine that the air base has its own electrical generators (and they will also have secondary generators in case there are system failures) and that for safety reasons there can be no interruptions in the power supply, especially taking into account the things that are stored and that theoretically have to always be ready to be used at any time.

If the mining company were from the United States, I suppose nothing would have happened. That's why I came to the same conclusion as you after reading the article again.

Dogecoin Forum / Re: DOGE for Tesla
« on: May 27, 2024, 04:04:38 PM »
Why do people always focus on popular people like Elon Musk, because they wait for the hype from the coin. Doge became popular because of Elon Musk, but I'm also not sure Elon will try to raise the price of doge m,to $1, because it's too heavy for now

It's not about Elon Musk making the price of Doge reach $1 because that's what he's waiting for, as are many users. If that happens one day we will witness a massive dump, that will cause the price of Doge to fall to values that no one could imagine again. But you also have to think that Doge (and cryptocurrencies) are not a priority (probably) for him, taking into account the numerous companies and businesses he must attend to. Musk has money and that can give him patience, something other users may not have waiting for something to happen that will probably never happen.

I have worked on many such airdrops but got no expected returns from them. Moreover, after paying for some of the airdrops, I could not work as per their announcement, so I was not eligible to receive the airdrop. All the airdrops I've done have been a waste of time. If the time was spent doing something else without joining the airdrops, the same time would have been worth less or more but joining in airdrop is completely worthless.

I have never participated in an airdrop that came from Twitter or any other social network. In fact, the last time I participated in an airdrop was many years ago, the project is quite well known, Decred, and it was between December 2015 and January 2016. Since then I have not participated in any other airdrop, they seem like a waste of time to me, in addition to the (unnecessary) risk involved in connecting our wallets to sites we do not know. Personally the time invested in airdrops is not worth the cents that can be earned, although sometimes people do not earn even cents since there are many scams.

We can delete our posts in some boards. For example, but not limited to, I can delete my posts in News related to Crypto section[1]. Therefore, the same thing can be done in the marketplace section and to avoid offense, you can delete posts that are less than 3 words in length.

[1] https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?board=26.0

True, but as you know, not all boards have the same permissions for users. Granting permissions to users who post bumps frequently would be the easiest, and if they don't do so despite having such permissions, the moderators of that board and global moderators could remove those bumps after a certain period of time. Although it would mean more work to do.

Although the user cannot delete old bumps, they can ask a moderator to delete them. In any case, the quickest and most effective thing would be for the administrator to give permissions to that user (and to users who have similar threads) to be able to delete them himself, leaving them in a log to avoid possible abuse.

I will write to the administrator to inform him about this thread and find a solution.

Justin Sun once dealt with the SEC because of allegations of TRX price manipulation, then there were rumors that he was leaving TRX, and several other things that made some parties worried and distrustful of TRX. Ah, I don't know, actually the price of TRX from the last bullish era couldn't reach ATH as quickly as other altcoins, right? This is similar to XLM which is very difficult to make significant improvements. So, as long as TRX can survive on the market, that's enough to be grateful for. Even since it was created, TRX's ATH was only $0.3, so it's very difficult to get above that again I think.

Until Justin Sun left Tron in December 2021 things were not going too well, but from that date until now things are getting worse. Before that date, Tron had a visible face, people could agree or disagree with Sun's decisions, but at least the market and the ecosystem had more movement and some news. At the beginning of 2022, everything related to the development of Tron seems frozen and forgotten, and the worst thing is that it could remain that way permanently. If no one takes the reins of the ecosystem and the foundation, everything will most likely get worse, and that's a shame, Tron has some really good features.

Decentralized Team / Re: Report Spammers
« on: May 26, 2024, 05:14:56 PM »
I will put a link to this discussion in the campaign thread to draw the manager's attention to this.

In addition to the aggressiveness of some BTT users and the ease with which a user can lose a spot in a signature campaign, unfortunately it is also easy to get banned.

The users shown in the screenshot you posted were added to my list as of this morning, with the intention of sending them a private message. By the way, @legend45 replied to me and told me that he had read the message I sent him. I hope it helps in some way. I will help as much as possible in the campaign thread with the post you write. A link to this conversation would also be interesting, so that users can value what they have and use it correctly.

Once again @examplens, thank you for your dedication and interest in improving the forum.

+1 , Since this falls under "this user contributes mostly to none crypto topics or very superficial contribution." It is within quality3[1]

But even Zoom 1 membership is no longer a meaningful classification because no penalties have been taken.

@Freemind I hope to send a message to all Zoom 1 members { if they do not change their posting style within 10 days, their signatures will be deleted (they can wear signatures after 3 months if their posting style changes), thus we have guaranteed healthy discussions.}

Zoom group is still useful for classifying, but it is true that the administrator should possibly allow more moderators to work with that group, since he has other tasks to do.

I agree with you that sending a message to everyone in the zoom group is a good idea, but I think it's the campaign manager who can (and should) push harder on that.

Welcome to the forum @Churchillvv.

As @Lucius says, I think you should be more specific with the problems you think you have with the forum. Technically, this forum and BTT are almost the same, boards, threads, sections, posts and some characteristics that, although minimal, differentiate both forums. I recommend that the best thing you can do to start (I assume you have read the forum rules) is to visit the boards that you like the most and start giving your opinion or asking what you don't know.

When you have questions about the forum, in these two boards you will find a lot of information, if you do not find an answer to your questions, do not hesitate to ask:

Basic questions about this forum.

Forum related.

There will always be someone willing to help you.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Roger Ver has been arrested
« on: May 26, 2024, 12:53:23 PM »
I guess the question is, if Ver remains arrested, who controls his account?. Or Ver has been able to connect to the forum even though he was arrested, with the intention of doing "something"?.

I don't know what other users think, but I think it's too much of a coincidence that this happens now.

For those who didn't know, this is Roger Ver's account on BTT: MemoryDealers.
