The thread is five years old but it was bumped very recently. I don't think OP is here anymore or wants to know about Bitcoin wallet. But, If someone else visits this thread with the hope of getting some advice regarding the Bitcoin wallet, I would surely suggest they use the Electrum wallet. It's a non-custodial open source Bitcoin wallet and it is available for Mobile and computer. You can access your wallet from multiple devices.

If you want to buy any hardware wallet, I don't know which one to suggest. Ledger was one of the best hardware wallt but with the recent drama, I don't like to suggest them anymore. Safepal could be another option. But they are not open source.

I am unsure if there is any sections in this forum for lending. You are a full member. But without having valid collateral, no one would approve a loan here in this forum. So, when someone asks for a loan via private message and posts to reply to him in the thread, that seems scammy to me.

I don't know what other have told you but you need to understand that there are different kind of wallet  which falls on some in teo different categories
The custodial  nad non custodial
Depending on what you want to use it for you might want to try custodial like
Binance , Hotbit and likes if you want to starttrade it in future
But if you are planning on holding for a long period  you can use a more secure  wallet (a non custodial) like
Exodus, Sparrow, Electrum  etc . You can DYOR own research to know the one that best suit youh

Why forum members always give answers or suggestions to questions being asked in a crypto forum like this, is mostly for future reference in case of people who want answers to questions they have at heart, in the same way, the OP as about the best crypto wallet to use to store bitcoin.

Different answers and opinions have been provided, it is now between those who don't know about the crypto wallet to use to store bitcoin, to pick the one that is been suggested most to them.

The most important thing to all of this, is to be able to store the seed phrase of the crypto wallet in a safe place and never disclose it to strangers.

Use an open-source wallet like Electrum to store your bitcoin.

Avoid keeping your coin in exchanges or any wallets that is in charge of controlling your coins, especially centralized exchanges that will request your personal details for KYC; take exchanges as marketplaces, buy your coins, and send them out.

Good advice, Electrum is also very suitable for beginners because its use is also easy and Electrum is also always in update.

If you're going to buy Bitcoin and hold it for a long time, I suggest to keep it in a trusted personal wallet such as Electrum, and if you're investment is huge I recommend hardware wallets.

But if you're going to hold short term, I recommend to keep your Bitcoin in a Bsc wallet especially if the fee matters to you.

Yeah that's true  exodus is really for those  that wants to trade other altcoins  along with Bitcoins. Also, it's use a BTC segwit address and it also support  lightning node server so there's alot to catch on exodus . Above all, it's a non custodial wallet

Does Exodus provide a coin control feature like CPFP or RBF? Does it provide a private key or seed phrase? Another thing, is it open source? I do not want to rely on google searches. I am using Electrum for Bitcoin and Unstoppable for altcoins. I need a wallet that is available for mobile devices and has these key features.

I always prefer open source wallets over closed sources wallets. It should be non-custodial wallet. For now, I am using unstoppable because it's open source and available for mobile device.

Its good to have you in the BTC community, I would say, first gain the knowledge of how many wallets types are there, like there are custodial and noncustodial, if you are planning to buy a big amount then you definitely should go for noncustodial wallets (the name might be confusing) but it means the opposite.

It means you should use a wallet that has its own phrase under your ownership, in noncustodial wallets you own the keys while in custodial wallets the exchange,, etc. own the keys. Electrum is the best option to hold onto BTC, but I prefer to setup a lighting node as you do have to pay fee which would be higher so to cover that you should think about setting up a lighting node as well which will lower your fee.
