"Bitcoiners" film

Today while reading news, i found a review for a film titled "Bitcoiners"[1].  While the the film isn't out yet, the review state it focus individual rather than on bigger scale which caught my interest. Looking at their website[2], it seems the focus of film is American Bitcoiner[3] which may not very relatable to some of us. But since it's paid film (at $6.15)[4], i probably will wait for more reviews before deciding to buy it or not.

Thank you for sharing I'll check it soon maybe on youtube since I don't have netflix on me or what site do you recommend with good quality resolution? I'm curious about these movies to be honest but I forgot searching it on my free time.

Yes, it is a documentary film, but you could find that out from the links in the first post.

I'm always happy to watch a good documentary on the topic of Bitcoin, but I hope that this film will eventually be available on one of the popular streaming platforms that I pay for anyway.

I have watched too many Bitcoin documentaries. They are essentially long clips explaining the origin of Bitcoin, how blockchain works, the application of BTC in the economy, Bitcoin halving, Mt. Gox, BTC Spot ETF... They have the same narative and presentation style. They are useful but quite boring when we watch the 10th clip on YouTube.

I would be more interested if the directors could explore the Bitcoin narrative with more creative storytelling methods, like the movie Titanic which tells a true disaster story. If the movie has real cinematic value, I believe it will attract a large audience similar to Marvel movies because Bitcoin is a topic of interest to millions of people worldwide

Those films are fine and also covers Bitcoin, but it has different focus. Those focus on Silk Road (the marketplace) or an individual who aim to recover Bitcoin, while this film seems to be about few individuals.

I'm always happy to watch a good documentary on the topic of Bitcoin, but I hope that this film will eventually be available on one of the popular streaming platforms that I pay for anyway.

That's true, i don't really plan to pay $6 unless many reviewer/Bitcoiner praise it highly.

6 dollar documentary  same amount in my country to watch a nationwide release  of a movie and I will not pay such amount knowing that I may not be satisfied about the whole documentary.
maybe I will wait for your update if willing to buy or not , or maybe will wait to those movie apps that I already paying to  add this docu.

There are also films that are not documentaries in which the story revolves around Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general, but they are not big hits that attract too much attention. Maybe over time this topic will become so interesting that some of the more famous directors will decide to make a film about how Satoshi actually came up with the idea to invent Bitcoin and about everything that has happened since then.

There is an excellent topic on BTT where you can find all movies/series that mention Bitcoin/altcoins - so even though it hasn't been updated for a long time, members still post some interesting links.

I added movie into cart and there is option to pay with Lightning Network and with card, so mainnet Bitcoin payment is not supported.
They are using something called zaprite.com for accepting payments, so I am not sure why they don't add BTC also when it is available in payment provider.
For people who don't want to pay $6, just wait few weeks and it will be released for free, meanwhile there are plenty of good bitcoin documentaries.

Thanks for letting us know. I'm waiting for more reviews, so i haven't check which currency/payment method they accept. It's really weird they don't accept Bitcoin though, even considering Bitcoin fee was high in past few months.

Well, a film is a film, or better said, a movie is a movie, it's doesn't have to relate to you or me or every other person in the world, or relate to the world at large, Americans produce American movies, while Africans produce African movies, Asians produce Asian movies  and the Europeans produce European movies and so on and on, doest matter what the movie is about, can be about bitcoin, or cryto currencies at large, or can be about love, or robbery, or kidnapping and so on, every movie producers focuses on their country or continent (or better said), places that they are very familair with and knows what the law is on that thing.


Personally, I enjoy watching American and other foreign movies from other continents as well, and I've sure heard of this movie "Bitcoiner", but am yet to even see it's trailer as of now, but all the same, I look forward to the full release of the movie worldwide, can't wait to watch it.

Pretty generic,  most are usually on hacking, fraud but essentially there are usually some element of criminality in most crypto related movies.
I can even appreciate one where Bitcoin usage is subtle. Like a futuristic setting with Great technological break through, Where Bitcoin is an existing asset.
Just checked the movie online, and I would say the publicity is kinda shallow.
Placing $6+ on something that haven't really been properly advertised. Well it might end up been an hidden gem but till it does, I don't really think it's worth it. Hopefully it becomes a mainstream and shocks me like Tedd Lasso movie did.   Previous cases haven't really helped matters.

But i expect only Bitcoin enthusiast who might watch this kind of film, where they more likely to use Bitcoin as payment method (rather than only hold). And being enthusiast, they probably will find way to avoid fee (e.g. make multiple payment in single Bitcoin TX). But it's just my wild speculation.

Paying to see information collected from the internet of material that is available to everyone strikes me as good business for those who are paid, but a waste of time and money for those who should be paying. No matter how good the editing is, or the cinematic quality of the documentary, as some critics say, I don't think $6 is a fair price, it seems too high to me. I hope that the producers have taken into account the time it will take for the documentary to be available on the BitTorrent network, which is inevitable, especially considering the quality of the product and the sources of the material they have used for the editing.
