Bank of Japan Is Prepping Digital Currency Trials for Early 2021

The Bank of Japan still has no immediate plans to issue a central bank digital currency. But it's getting ready for one just in case. The Bank of Japan today said that it has no plans to issue a central bank digital currency, or CBDC, but “considers it important to prepare thoroughly.”
