Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: how to know that ico is scam or legit ?
« on: February 27, 2018, 03:58:21 AM »
Few things I have picked up along the way to spot scam projects.

1. They promise huge returns and state a future price on their coin way above the current selling price.
2. Website has been set up recently and with no real way to find out who registered it.
3. Either no links to team profiles on LinkedIn or other professional sites, or brand new accounts with few endorsements and minimal connections.
4. Lack of (or poorly ran) social media channels, minimum should be at least two or three of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Medium, Telegram, Reddit etc.
5. Using the term 'blockchain' for the sake of it, no real need for the project to use it.
6. Coin/token distribution heavily waited towards founders/developers/early investors etc.
7. Lack of (or minimally detailed) whitepaper and roadmap, need to know what progress the team has made so far, and where they plan to take the project.
8. No open source code access available on GitHub or similar.
9. Stock photos used for team members or project details (can always back check them using google image search).
10. Project is too vague with no real information on what they are planning to do and how they are going to do it.
11. Google the project name plus review, and be aware that many of the reviews will be paid reviews.
12. Bottom line is do as much research as possible, it is your money you are going to be investing.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: I Want to buy some Altcoin

Any reason why you have chosen these two particular coins? Not that there is anything wrong with them in general, but it sounds like you've just put a pin in a sheet of paper and picked them. Tron has a huge following, but also a huge amount of detractors. If you can get it for a decent price, then I think it's probably worth it, but depends what your plan is. Are you hoping to flip them for a quick profit or hold for long term rewards? And what size investment are you talking? Most people seem to invest in these smaller value coins hoping for 100x profit in a few months, this is far from guaranteed and not a good way to invest. Better to do more research on a variety of coins and convince yourself to buy them rather than looking for validation. Good luck anyway.

Other Popular Cryptos / Coins / Pac Coin - Coin Swap
« on: February 27, 2018, 03:44:26 AM »
They have already started the coin swap for 'preferred holders', but from March 1st, they are doing a 1000-1 swap, so if you hold 500,000 old coins, you will receive 500 of the new coins. All the details are available on their website, so if you are holding coins on an exchange, you should transfer them to the old pac coin wallet (downloadable from the website). Download the new wallet compatible with the new Pac Coin ready for the distribution. Then from 1st March, send your coins to the contract address provided on the website and they will send out the new coins to your new wallet. Check the website for full details (www.paccoin.net), but don't wait to do the swap as over the next few months, the rate deteriorates and you will receive less coins in exchange.

Other Popular Cryptos / Coins / Re: ICON (ICX)
« on: February 27, 2018, 03:38:15 AM »
A friend of mine introduced me to ICX and persuaded me to invest. Only invested a small amount, but by far my best performing ICO. Wish I'd had more money at the time. Still holding, mainly due to constant positive feedback on other forums. If they stay true to their roadmap and deliver everything promised, this could well be a top 10 player. Just my humble opinion.
