This does not sound good for blockchain,being touted as immutable. Does it mean Verge blockchain isn't immutable? That's surprising to hear.

A news like this will definitely cast aspersions on the blockchain industry generally because it's not supposed to happen in the first place unless the network is not as decentralized as posited in the first place, and the block are not ordered as a long chain.

There is a big problem with Verge and though devs will certainly not admit it so as not to fuel dumping of its coin we know what is the truth. Of course, they can fix this problem later, but  this thing will neveer inspire more trust and confidence with the network. While many of Verge's competitors are enjoying their glory right now in the bull run, this is embroiled in a big problem.

Possible case for a pow blockchain. Any community that catches 51% can modify blocks and total supply. however, no one can hold the 51% majority forever. because that means a lot of cost. After the 51% attack is over, miners and developers come together to solve the problem.
