Karma system of ATT verses Merit system of BTT

Well, if the outcome is that discussions are more constructive and friendly, then it is welcome. What we would need to see is if in some cases they are less genuine, but as you say, in a good use of karma, negative karma should not be given to someone simply because they have opposing viewpoints, and if abuse is dealt with, even better.

I gotta say I agree with this 100%. So many times I have said that you can never make everyone happy, same thing can be said for opinion. Everyone is not going to have the same opinion. Cultural differences, the way you were raised, the circumstances everyone is in or faced, people are never to going to agree 100% and telling people to give a -karma if they dislike an opinion just seems wrong. Would be better to say, skip a post if you disagree with someone's opinion.

1. Between the merit system on BTT and karma system on ATT, which do you like or prefer the most based in your experience with both forums?

Both are just different and do not relate to each other. While merits promotes quality posts and aids in ranking up, Karma is related more to reputation and has nothing with ranking up.

2. Which of this systems do you think is more easier to abuse?
   - Remember, users bought and sold Merits on BTT like it's a commodity, and this still happens even till date - thanks to the users on the forum who catch this merit traders and negative tag them.

- And here on ATT, some users can easily come together to form a Karma club, routinely karma-ing themselves - but thanks to the admin who see all this from the back-end and always ready to purnish offenders.

I have known about merit abuse, but there's a system to check that. Although no system is 100% efficient. But I am surprised to understand that there's also a karma abuse ongoing or something related to that. But then, in general, I prefer the merit system to karma system because in the merit system, you will definitely see who merited your post.
