Title: What is decentralized finance (DeFi)?
Post by: Trumpet on April 28, 2021, 07:34:26 AM
Cryptocurrencies have exploded into a trillion-dollar industry today, sparking a wave of worldwide financial disruption.

At the heart of cryptocurrencies is a remarkable history of innovation that goes back to the 1980s, with advancements in cryptography. Since then, a series of events have shaped crypto space; the first cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, being the most prominent. Despite its spectacular growth in the past 12 years, financial services have very slowly appeared for Bitcoin — mostly due to its inherent lack of stability and adoption. Mainstream institutions won’t accept a Bitcoin loan because of its significant price volatility — it makes Bitcoin a poor asset to plan any investment accurately.

Things change quickly in the crypto space, and decentralized finance (DeFi) is a current trend — it's an exciting space to be, undoubtedly. If you're still unaware, let’s dig a little deeper into DeFi and learn more about it.

Forgive me, but not all defi projects are actually Decentralized. You see many projects tagged defi but you see most of decisions are carried out by team with consideration of major holders or top holders.
There are also instances where these project are profit oriented organization of developers and its funny when all the projects name end with suffix Finance

Decentralized finance (commonly referred to as DeFi) is a blockchain-based form of finance that does not rely on central financial intermediaries such as brokerages, exchanges, or banks to offer traditional financial instruments, and instead utilizes smart contracts on blockchains, the most common being Ethereum.[1] DeFi platforms allow people to lend or borrow funds from others, speculate on price movements on a range of assets using derivatives, trade cryptocurrencies, insure against risks, and earn interest in savings-like accounts.[2] DeFi uses a layered architecture and highly composable building blocks.[3] Some DeFi applications promote high interest rates[2] but are subject to high risk.[1] By October 2020, over $11 billion (worth in cryptocurrency) was deposited in various decentralized finance protocols, which represented more than a tenfold growth during the course of 2020.[4][2] As of January 2021, approximately $20.5 billion was invested in DeFi.[5] The TVL of the DeFi derivatives market is currently $2.78 billion or roughly 7.4% of the total DeFi market. While it is imperative to analyze DeFis and their underlying blockchains in a secure manner, it has shown to be a complex endeavor[6] .

Short for decentralized finance, DeFi is an umbrella term for a variety of applications and projects in the public blockchain space geared toward disrupting the traditional finance world. Inspired by blockchain technology, DeFi is referred to as financial applications built on blockchain technologies.  click (https://hedera.com/learning/what-is-decentralized-finance?gclid=CjwKCAjwtpGGBhBJEiwAyRZX2hl5v64zsRv35qcQ7DCtYuRP6BYnTD3QPtDZRkvb6BtovkMyfObj-BoChvwQAvD_BwE)

In simple words, DeFi is an ecosystem of finance, where everyone can use the services of insurance, lending, and trade without any intermediaries, a smart contract will do everything for you. This is the future of finance, but it needs some work.

Decentralized finance is that which is not regulated or operated by any human touch. without any touch of the system it may complete allover transaction process. where there is no need any help of human just maintain a block of chain technology. which is not regulated by any banks or other centralized organizations which had already dominated the financial world for long time. That is decentralized finance technology.
