If there is one trend from the biggest blockchain community in recent times, decentralization finance or what is commonly called DeFi is the answer. DeFi became quite popular because it integrated the core values of blockchain into the existing financial business.
DeFi generally runs with smart contracts on the Ethereum (ETH) platform, one of the most popular crypto assets besides Bitcoin (BTC). The smart contract allows DeFi to run automatically without the presence of a middleman or third party. Smart contracts are a programming language. This is the main difference between DeFi and traditional financial institutions such as banking, namely disintermediation.
