I just found out I cannot delete my post

I'm surprised to find out that I cannot delete my post, I usually phase my posts I write my posts after the other because I have the momentum then I get up to my chair and do some other pieces of stuff and just come back later, but before this post, I mistakenly hit post a newly created post that was meant to be posted after I come back from doing my stuff so I have a post that has a 6 minutes gap, which is something I don't like or part of my posting behavior.
Can we have an option to delete our post? It's okay if is declined I will have to adjust then.

Regular users don't have such a privilege on Altcoinstalks, only some special groups like Royalty, etc.

If it happened occasionally you can ask a moderator of the section to delete an unwanted post.

Honestly, I prefer users not be able to delete their posts. Look at the mess Ratimov created when he deleted multiple topics on the other forum trying to remove proof he was an idiot. Might even be good if users couldn't edit to a certain extent.

You're right about Ratimov misdeeds, no post deletion is not on SMF default setting the admin might have configured it, I'm ok with that post once created can only be edited but not deleted, anyway this thread is for awareness I'm sure we'll have many members from other forums who migrated who are not aware that alcoinstalk has a different setting

I do not know if there is anyone scraping forum data, and if there is no bot doing so, it is best to assume that everything you post has been recorded by someone.
Deleting the post will not change much, but it would be good if this feature was available to a specific rank, such as Mythical, instead of being a paid feature.

Search engine scrape forum data so it can be shown on relevant search result. In addition, it's known Google keep older version of certain web page through feature called "Google Cache".

Honestly, this is the first forum where I have encountered the impossibility of deleting my own post.
Time restrictions for any additional actions such as writing a new post, editing or deleting are the most common restrictions that apply to newly created accounts or accounts with little activity. This is understandable from the point of view of spam suppression.

You are right about that. users shouldn't be allowed to delete their own posts. even if the delete post option is not available users can edit and remove the texts and save the post with no text. and disabling edit feature would not be a good idea because that is very necessary for real editing.
maybe a backup system can be implemented. so if someone delete a specific post to mislead someone or remove a proof of scam or anythign a forum admin could bring that up from the backup file and then disable the user from editing or deleting that again. this method would work but requires proper resources.

I dont know what forums you guys used before but in all my previous forums I was able to delete my own posts.
There was different type of limitations with time or number of posts I could write to avoid spam, but in here it is easy to make mistake like I did yesterday.
That is why I asked for confirmation before making a post, or disabling writing quick consecutive posts:

I like the fact that posts can't be deleted though. Because many users post by plagiarism but later try hard to delete their post but still can't. So I think it's a very good thing not to have this delete icon so that no user can steal other's work and delete it later.

@admin mentioned other reasons that are not related to privacy, some details related to the account. I still do not know how the forum’s rankup system works, but it seems that points affect it.

I have been very clear and very transparent.
- delete own post >> abuse points.
- delete topic >> affects ranks and post count
- move topic >> bypass restriction on sections
- change display name >> impersonate others after teleportation XXX not available for purchase
- lock topic >>> censorship
- create custom title >>> annoying

tagging >>> not yet available

The best we can do is convince them that this feature is possible for the Mythical, we are all still beginners and maybe after a little time we will understand everything about the forum.

Looks like our experience are difference. Many forums i've used which use "modern" software (e.g. Discourse) or has more modern UI let user delete or edit post with little limitation. Although i guess it's partially because they decide to comply with GDPR or other privacy laws.
