I think eventually all first gen platforms in crypto will die, but it will take a very long time (except maybe bitcoin, all of its limitations can be considered pros over cons unless something comes out that is more decentralized, faster, and not proof of work with lower transaction fees). We're nowhere near that day though.. ETH has some fud to work out with all of the garbage on its network but it'll soar to new heights over the next couple of years, and will balloon out to a very high number before starting its steady decline as adoption of faster technology takes over in smart contracts.
