Bitcoin Gold / Re: The reason Bitcoin Gold was created
« on: July 19, 2019, 03:33:36 AM »
The purpose behind creating Bitcoin Gold was to make mining decentralized again. Bitcoin Gold provides an opportunity for countless people around the world to participate in the mining process with widely-available consumer hardware that is manufactured and distributed by reputable mainstream corporations. This leads to a more decentralized, democratic mining infrastructure that is both more resilient and more in line with Satoshi’s original vision. Bitcoin Gold was created with that vision in mind.

Bitcoin Gold / Re: Uniqueness of Bitcoin gold
« on: July 19, 2019, 03:13:59 AM »
The purpose behind creating Bitcoin Gold was to make mining decentralized again.
Satoshi Nakamoto’s idealistic vision of “one CPU one vote” for Bitcoin had been displaced by a reality where the manufacture and distribution of specialized mining equipment using ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) chips is dominated by a tiny number of entities, some of which have engaged in monopolistic and arguably abusive practices against individual miners and the Bitcoin network as a whole. Changing the PoW (Proof-of-Work) algorithm from SHA-256 to Equihash means that specialized ASIC mining equipment designed for SHA-256 are unable to mine on the Bitcoin Gold blockchain. Equihash runs on commodity graphics cards, or GPUs, which are easily available to the public, but Equihash is prohibitively difficult to implement as an ASIC (see: Equihash). As a result, Bitcoin Gold provides an opportunity for countless people around the world to participate in the mining process with widely-available consumer hardware that is manufactured and distributed by reputable mainstream corporations.
This leads to a more decentralized, democratic mining infrastructure that is both more resilient and more in line with Satoshi’s original vision. Bitcoin Gold was created with that vision in mind. This, to me is the uniqueness of bitcoin gold.

OmiseGO (OMG) Forum / Re: Why buy OmiseGO?
« on: July 17, 2019, 07:33:55 PM »
OmiseGO is a public Ethereum-based financial technology for use in mainstream digital wallets, that enables real-time, peer-to-peer value exchange and payment services agnostically across jurisdictions and organizational silos, and across both fiat money and decentralized currencies. Which to me means that they are taking all that is great in the blockchain technology, and integrating it with their offering, creating a new advanced Omise service. Its also a coin with great potential to rise higher.

OmiseGO (OMG) Forum / Re: OmiseGO and ETH
« on: July 17, 2019, 07:25:52 PM »
OMG is a decentralized bank, exchange, and asset-backed blockchain gateway. OMG’s ultimate goal is to be a “preeminent high-value exchange and settlement platform”. OMG is based on ERC-20 which defines recognized smart contract code functions across the Ethereum eco-system but i would rather prefer ethereum to omisego.

OmiseGO (OMG) Forum / Re: Will Omisego become popular?
« on: July 17, 2019, 07:13:39 PM »
Popularity would increase the value of Omisego. It can be attained with marketing. But I think a better way to POPULARITY would be to demo the OMG Network with Plasma running at "Hundred Thousand to One Million Transactions Per Second". That will blow everyone away. But for sure it has a great potential to gain the trust of many crypto users.

TRON is a great project that is most likely going to achieve global adoption. TRX is attractively priced at the moment. With expected growth, it has the potential to rise higher and is capable of much more. Definitely, TRON is a good investment on the basis that its value is set to grow in the near future.

Dogecoin Forum / Re: Dogecoin will go moon with Elon musk news

Well, haven’t laid hold of this news. If you could send the link that would be nice. But if even it’s true that is not going to have much influence on the value of dogecoin.

Trinity wallet review, IOTA Foundation’s newly released software wallet

The IOTA Foundation announced the full release of its Trinity wallet for mobile and desktop. The wallet simplifies the process for storing seeds and sending and receiving tokens. Read our full test and review of the wallet.

The IOTA Foundation announced the full release of Trinity following the completion of an audit on the wallet by SIXGEN, a Maryland-based cybersecurity firm. The release provides a robust alternative to the Nostalgia, Nelium, and IOTA GUI Light wallets, among others.

“Our industry-leading wallet, Trinity, delivers on IOTA’s goal to provide secure, accessible and community-driven token storage for the international cryptocurrency marketplace,” said Dominik Schiener, the IOTA Foundation co-founder."

CryptoSlate went ahead and tested the wallet to assess the IOTA Foundation’s claims of usability.

Account setup

Going through the account setup process was slightly more of a hassle than comparable Ethereum or Bitcoin wallets. One feature that Trinity boasts is secure SeedVault digital backup. These backups use the same standards as KeePass for encrypted seed backups.

However, during our tests importing the backed up seed required more than half a dozen attempts and only worked after tweaking the test device’s settings. If a user is unable to import the seed file then they will need to manually input the 81 character seed.

An IOTA account seed. Please do not share your seed with anyone

Importing the seed onto mobile could have been easier. Although there’s a camera feature for scanning a QR of the seed, we were unable to find a QR code of the seed on the wallet, meaning manual input was once again required.

Enabling biometric authentication was simple and allows for quicker access to the wallet on mobile. Unfortunately, the feature isn’t supported on desktop devices.

Sending and receiving transactions

Sending and receiving transactions was convenient. The Trinity wallet supports QR scanning as well as address prefilling, in-line with other high-quality cryptocurrency wallets.

Receiving IOTA via Trinity wallet on mobile

One unusual feature stemming from IOTA’s non-blockchain architecture is that addresses are not reusable. Each time a user sends a transaction the application must create a new address to send the remaining balance to. In previous iterations of IOTA wallet apps users had to do this manually, putting user funds at risk.

Users have reported losing tens of thousands of dollars because of this non-intuitive feature in older wallets. That said, wallets like Trinity help abstract away complexity by automatic this process and allow users to focus on spending and saving their coins.

Hardware wallet support and other features

Trinity also supports the Ledger Nano S, X, and Blue hardware wallets. The wallets act as an additional layer of security by storing the account seed on the hardware device rather than on Trinity.

However, after testing, the hardware wallet also adds an additional layer of complexity when using the wallet. Although it’s more secure, it makes sending and receiving transactions and accessing the wallet more cumbersome. Our recommendation is to connect a hardware device only if storing large amounts of IOTA.

Other passive features include node management and quorum. By automatically querying multiple nodes to verify the integrity of network information users can securely remain connected to the Tangle.

Those interested in trying Trinity themselves can download the wallet on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Thanks for the review of this new software wallet. Have not tried using it yet but hope it becomes user friendly, safe and secure to use.

IOTA Forum / Re: Is IOTA Safe and Secure?
« on: July 14, 2019, 10:00:18 AM »
I believe the safety and security of iota lies in its uniqueness. It is the only crypto around which does not utilise blockchain technology. Instead, it uses another type of network, called a Tangle. According to IOTA’s website, the benefits of using Tangle include: a lack of fees, speedy transactions, secure data transfer and transactions can be conducted on infinite scales. Other aspects include pay-on-demand and micropayment abilities. IOTA was created to be “the backbone of the internet of things”, and fully supports secure machine-to-machine (m2m) communication. This makes miota unique and different from other coins even though there are some flaws.

IOTA Forum / Re: What makes IOTA special?
« on: July 14, 2019, 09:55:27 AM »
IOTA is a very special coin. It is unique in that it uses a tangle technology and not blockchain technology which has a lot of advantages. Transactions, thus sending and receiving money is also free with IOTA. It has a great future.

Monero Forum / Re: Monero vs Ethereum
« on: July 14, 2019, 12:27:34 AM »
The cryptocurrency Monero (XMR) focuses on privacy. Monero uses ring signatures, ring confidential transactions, and stealth addresses. These keep the transaction origin, destination, and amount private. This allows anonymity to Monero users with private transaction trails. However, Ethereum brought smart contracts, DApps, and the “Ethereum Virtual Machine”. Together, these provide the ability for entrepreneurs to create decentralized business models. Hundreds of such entrepreneurs have already launched their decentralized businesses, with most “Initial Coin Offerings” (ICOs) taking place using the Ethereum platform.

Monero Forum / Re: Monero surpassing ethereum?

Even though everything is possible in the crypto world, its very unlikely for monero to surpass ethereum. Eth is a very strong coin which has the confidence and trust of many crypto users aside bitcoin.

It is very true that ripple is working hard to strengthen its coin by having various partnership with banks and several other companies. This will help them gather more fiat.
