I don't know if things have changed now in BTT, but at least some kind of follow-up of cases that raise some suspicion would be positive for the forum and for less experienced users.

No, you will not get banned for a scam!
It has been like that since the removal of the scammer tag and it will probably not change ever!

Also, for the reasons, a tiny difference, the time when each forum started, a lot of things at that time so prior 2013 madness where different, you didn't have these kind of scams as we do now and most of them were mainly because of deals between two persons so at one point theymos got bored of the staff team playing the judge and left everyone doing the judging for himself.

What will instantly get you banned on BTT is phishing links, malware and referral spam!

In its defense, there were a few cases that got tagged by a dozen accounts as a scammer and paid back the sum, or some that prove to not be actually a scammer and falsely accused, so to draw far fetch parallels , think of it much like the detach sentence in our real life world system.
Of course it fails terrible as users get tricked even by a guy who has three scams accusations on his profile, but..it is what it is.

I don't think a high rank account on this forum would do something like that. That is, it would be possible for someone to do it, but the consequences would be catastrophic for that user since their account would probably be blocked and their negative karma would be very high.

Yeah, another difference, nobody from the mod team will bother there if a high rank user has changed hands, before the merit system you could simply buy cheap farmed accounts, there were farms with more than 100 of them, all it takes was a bot posting every two weeks once and that's it.
And I don't think I've ever seen a discussion of IP logs other than when it involved serious threats to one's safety!

I think letting moderators act according to their free choice is a mistake. Each moderator should have their own criteria and, to some extent, their own way of applying the forum rules, but there should always be a minimum basis on which to base it, but always within some general lines. I believe that freedom of decision should not be applied in these cases.

As for the bans... I prefer not to talk, since I know that many users have been banned without any reason or justification, I also know that when someone who has not violated the rules has asked what happened, they have been completely ignored, which I think is a shame and a very wrong way to use the power that a moderator has.

There are many ways to do things, and sometimes doing them transparently and well, costs much less than acting quickly and senselessly.

As soon as someone sees posts that clearly demonstrate that it is a scam, it is best to report it immediately so that the moderators can remove it quickly, that way new users would not fall for the scam.

So scams are moderated here. I never quite understood why they are not moderated in BTT, I don't know if it's because of a supposed respect for freedom or something, but in principle it seems more sensible to me that they are moderated, and even more so when it's a clear case of scams, as in this case because of the high daily return.

Not sure if BTT does not have same feature mate because if I am not mistaken YOBIT signature campaign and the Signature itself are being banned in Bitcointalk as they are being called as scam.
so I think if we report and provide valid arguments about each site being scams then BTT will act on it , correct me if I am wrong of course .

I don't know if BTT would act on this, in fact they have had many years to do so and have done nothing about it. I think the problem is that when people do things one way for many years, it is difficult to change their habits, although in reality the topic we are talking about is serious, and it is an example of how the administration and the moderators not only care of the forum content, but they also care about the users, that are the basis of any community, but everyone sets the rules in their house.

No, that wasn't the case.
Theymos wiped yobit signatures because of the out of control spam, he did it because the reports and handed an extra punishment to everyone caring the signature that had multiple reports on his posting habits, but later let a new campaign under a manager to run, and yahoo was in charge of it. Again, scam accusations won't get you banned and that's it!

Anyhow, I doubt we should replicate things from there here, that is one reason I've stayed out of all the reorganization and topic movement all all that, both forum have taken a different path and should stay different, so bringing up stuff from BTT here won't do any good.

I guess that's one way of looking at things. But if I invite someone to my house, I wouldn't want any neighbors in the neighborhood to try to scam them while they are inside my house. I'm the one who has to worry about them being in a safe environment, that's why I said in my previous post that everyone sets the rules in their own house. The biggest victims of all this are newbies, those who read little and quickly decide that they just want to make money, without paying attention to what they do and where they do it. There are more newbies every day due to the popularity of cryptocurrencies and unfortunately they are potential targets for scammers.

That's the thing in this libertarian no policing approach.
You from the start acknowledge that everyone should be able to make a decision on its own (your guest not falling for a scam, and second your guest not coming to your house knowing you won't care about their experience in dealing with other guest).
More like a laissez-faire method, not that I approve of it!

There are more newbies every day due to the popularity of cryptocurrencies and unfortunately they are potential targets for scammers.

Look at the bright side, the amount of newbies that will be scammed just because they are newbies is probably hitting lowest levels ever.
I've seen it lately quite frequently, the ones still getting scammed aren't so because of their lack of knowledge but because of greed, and you won't get rid of that and on the amount of risk takers that will not even trust your serious proofs. I mean common, there have been thousands of Ponzi schemes, it's been a century since Charles patented this and you still have people falling for it.
