Forum related / Re: Can we add Links in Profile Avatars?
« on: May 23, 2024, 08:28:05 PM »
That would make it kind of like a second signature, no?

I'm not sure what kind of use it would have if your avatar is chosen for you by a signature campaign though. It would be pretty weird to have the avatar of some service and then when you click on it, it takes you to a completely different website.

Anyway, let's wait and see what happens. I don't really care too much about this, but it could be useful to some people.

For self-service and those wearing customised Avatars, you cannot wear Mixtum and include a gambling link or a link to your personal blog. I had no idea something like this existed because we aren't used to clicking avatars on BTT, therefore the chances of anyone clicking it are quite low.

It could be used to for phishing links; keep in mind that high-ranking accounts can also be scam. This is the internet. Do we really need this now? Nah IMO

Nigerian Languages / Re: Telegram wallet NGN P2P platform
« on: May 23, 2024, 06:24:22 PM »
Has anyone used Telegram P2P? I checked it out, but the volume is quite low; there are no Sell ads, only Buy ads, and the entire thing appears sneaky. I'm not urging anyone to attempt it.
Even if I later get to try out the P2P on Telegram, I would not want to be among the first people to use it because I know that the rate of scams will be high. I believe that they will try to improve their services; that is, it will later work properly when people start moving there. And that will only happen when the government has succeeded in blocking all the other exchanges still functioning for exchange to NGN and Telegram becomes one of the few options left.

Bold for you to think the Government will not go after the telegram M.A in-app p2p except it's kept hidden and the trade volume is extremely low. It's still a Centralized exchange and telegram can easily take it down. The wallet is not affiliated to telegram, it's a third party app.

When the SEC and the EFCC positions were appointed, we all thought it was a way to financial freedom for the youths since these positions are occupied by the youths. Instead we're on the knife here.
They are youths, but they are fruits from the same bad tree.

So, why do we continue to pick from the same corrupt generation in a country with over 200 million people, recycling barely 1% of the population since 1999? I saw a picture of Late Sabi Abacha's daughter driving in the veranda and living quite well; the Abacha loots from Nigeria's economy are enormous enough to feed Africa for the next two decades, and I'm not exaggerating. For more than a decade, banks in France and the United Kingdom have struggled to refund all loots. It is so enormous that removing it from the UK and French banking sectors would have an impact on those countries' banking sectors. I heard that his grandchildren are still active in politics today.

It just shows how foolish these people are or how foolish they take us to be because long before cryptocurrency, there has always been terrorism, and terrorism and its activities have always been funded, so now why blame it all on crypto?

The whole Boko Haram terrorism in Nigeria started in 2002 even before Bitcoin was created so who has been funding or how have they been funding them? Can't believe a big EFCC office holder can't even do a single research before coming on air.

Gambling discussion / Re: Suitable for persons 18 plus to gamble
« on: May 21, 2024, 02:51:23 PM »
Already 18 years according to some jurisdictions is the legal age to gamble. At that age, an individual is seen as an adult who can make decisions on his own and face the consequences.

I agree with you because at 18 years an individual has gained self awareness which makes him mentally and emotionally conscious of what happens in his life. The importance of this age accounts for the reason most countries only allow an individual who is 18 years and above to gain entrance into the university.

On a second thought, any action done by a person of 18years cannot be blamed on a third party because such an individual can decipher what is best for him.
Yeah aside from the legal age where maturity might be an important role they also know things like making decisions especially what is right and wrong. But still here in my country age is just a number because minors can still gamble discreetly either online or offline.

Then it's not longer the problem of the bookmakers because there's no way they're going to verify that you lied while you were signing up on their platform although it quite impossible now with the new regulations that demands every new users compulsory passing of Tie1 KYC before deposits to avoid underage users on their platform.

It's also the responsibility of the a betting shop to not allowed an underage persons in the gambling hall. Parents also have a key role to play in all this.

Gambling discussion / Re: No risk no gain
« on: May 18, 2024, 10:43:11 PM »
Basically, any income is associated with a certain risk.

I don't think there is any risk associated with the regular 8-5 jobs. In regular job you get compensated for job done and not for an amount staked. It means your services is been paid for. This is different for gambling and that is why it is a risky enterprise because you have to stake money to win money and when you don't win you lose money.

This is why to win you must take a risk. Without risk there is no victor in gambling. It is m opinion that gambling is for the risk taker and not the comfort seekers.

Gambling discussion / Re: Whats your experience with gambling?
« on: May 18, 2024, 09:51:34 PM »
Hi everyone!

Here, I invite you to share personal stories about your gambling journey — whether you've had big wins, faced losses or just dabble occasionally for fun.
Or maybe you have strange gambling habits  :D

Whether you're a seasoned gambler or a casual player, your experiences are interesting.

I don't think this space is enough to share my experience. Gambling made me almost drop out from school because I used my school fees to gamble and was denied writing exam. Luckily, those of us who missed out the exam was given another exam to write. This was my worst experience.

Other times, I have failed to cash out due to greed and then I will end up losing everything and wishing I had cashed out. Sometimes I win but it is not commensurate with my loss.

Gambling discussion / Re: How did the gambling life Start?
« on: May 18, 2024, 09:34:08 PM »
So how did your gambling life begin?

I started gambling the day I saw a friend holding a bet ticket. Out of curiosity, I asked him what he was holding and what it means. He explained and I immediately picked interest because I was already a football fan and so at that point I felt like it's an easy way to make money and from that very moment to day, I am still gambling.

My journey so far is not a roller coaster but giving up is not an option because there are times when I win when I least expected and I am disciplined enough not to be addicted.

In a country where gambling is legal, and there are no regulations about age restrictions

Not true, there are age restrictions regardless of the fact that gambling is legal in some jurisdiction. This not withstanding  it will not be proper to expose students to gambling. Gambling is something personal and so it doesn't affect every student since not all students are involved in gambling. Bringing gambling discussion in schools will only amount to flooding the school curriculum with unnecessary things.

I wont blame the EFCC because they are only being controlled by the government that put them in office, instead of them to be busy going after the financial embezzling politicians, they are busy running after the innocent Nigerians who are involved on making trades thinking they are using crypto as a covering to financial fraud, whereas what the people want is financial freedom, they have seen bitcoin as an alternative means for survival in which governments cannot provide such opportunity for them.

EFCC is independent institution, I'm not sure the Govemment official or top officials are influencing their decisions on this very "Naira" project, it's a simple case of ignorance from the SEC and CBN. The EFCC are only acting on their ignorance decisions on the CBN Governor.

Nigerians are copy cat and they have started following and saying what the US government use to tell their citizens for the reason why they are bringing down mixers, but he twisted it the other way round because he knows that Nigerians don't use mixers. Before cryptocurrency came into massive adoption by Nigerians, was there no terrorists.

If CBN and SEC were going against mixers it would be understandable just what the US Govemment are doing although I totally condemned the fight against privacy but the Nigerian government are fighting the opposite. Going against CEX exchanges is stupidity.

I am still confused why the price is still going up upon all the dreams with Binance and other cryptocurrency exchanges in the country. Presently the price or the exchange rate is USD1 = NGN1564.71 even as this we are still praying for good Nigeria. Last week again President Tinubu said they should extend the Binance Staff detention until the needed information are given. And I don't think Binance is ready to release such vital information to Nigeria Government.
They will look for more people to arrest and more people to blame for their cluelessness, because by now it should be obvious to them that it was not binance or even the naira speculators that they blamed that is the cause of the problem of the naira. They are just chasing shadows and ignoring the real problem, like they do not know it.

It is very embarrassing that one of the detained binance executives is still in custody, it is a shame.

Who else noticed the rapid gain of Naira two days ago on P2p market? Saw N1,100 on Bybit just when I was about to trade , I knew it was false dip so I logged out and came back the next day and it was already 1,480 barely 24hrs. I have the feeling that the FG is about to subsidize the Naira again with our foreign reserves just like old times since they have no solution to offer.

A country surviving on imported goods for consumption will always have a weaker currency. It's a basic economics but the people up there with various academic degree don't even know or care to ask for help.

The EFCC chairman said our crypto are being used to finance the country's terrorism - I couldn't wrap my head round the whole thing because it's kind of weird for someone who has been in the financial sector to think this way. The young people in power are even worse than the old fashioned politicians we criticize daily.

When the SEC and the EFCC positions were appointed, we all thought it was a way to financial freedom for the youths since these positions are occupied by the youths. Instead we're on the knife here.

Some of you are aware of our activities in the area of investigating virtual currency trading and the likes of cryptocurrencies,” Olukoyede said.

“They are potential platforms to fund terrorism. A lot of us don’t understand that. Some of our discoveries during investigation of some of these platforms were mind boggling.

“We thought Binance was a major one. Yes, it was. We are prosecuting them. But there are other platforms we have discovered.

“They used some of these young men. Some of them don’t know that the people who gave them money to trade are people who fund terrorism.”

The anti-graft agency chief also noted that there is a need to adopt technology in tracking money used to fund terrorism in the country

I am anti eth and have been anti eth for years. basically it is not for me. Do I know anything special about eth no. but I believe it lost its way when it left POW. I also think both AMD and Nvidia would like to hurt them for leaving mining. So I feel there is a target on the back of eth. But that is just what I think

I'm not a fan of ETH either because of the fees and congested network, it's kinda free now without those NFT shit that messed up the network. But it's a very good asset to hodl during the bull run for those with with  minimum budget. I see it as a hodl and take profits scheme and nothing more than that. I've never held ETH for more than 6 months.

What's your thoughts on AI coins? You're not a shitcoiner are you?  :o miners hates altcoins by default.
