Asking for alt critiques / recommendations

Just wanted to check before posting.

I have a DCA portfolio that might need some tweaking. Am I allowed to ask people's advice on specific coins and if so which section should I put the question in. Quite a big forum!

You can ask as many questions as you want and ask for advice whenever you want, the only thing you have to keep in mind is to ask each question on the board corresponding to the related topic you are talking about. Yes, I know that at first it may seem like a very big forum with many boards and subforums, but you will get used to it quickly.

Remember to use the forum search engine, it is possible that some of your questions have already been answered previously.

Don't worry, when your account rank goes up you won't have to do as many verifications.

Thanks for the welcome and clarification! I will have a further nosey and then probably raise a few questions. With what appears to have been a pretty heavy correction of late I suspect once it does whatever it needs to do then we might be off to the races. Will be my first bull run but I have taken a lot of advice from a really good mentor but paying $100 a month was okay when I knew nothing. However, when the same information was just being regurgitated so felt like them 100 bucks would be better spent on my portfolio or pints of Guinness!

I welcome your initiative, I would certainly impose the most important advice on you, which is to always do your own research and make decisions based on your assessments and not on the advice of unknown people from the Internet. I can give you my assessments, but that does not mean that they are good.
You enter your money here, and the loss and gain will be yours alone, so the decision must be yours only.

You're welcome @irishbeast. What @examplens said is some of the best advice you can follow, and it's also something some of us have been doing for many years. Our money, our decision, whether it is the best or not. In this way it is the exclusive responsibility of each one. That doesn't mean you can't ask, on the contrary, by asking and reading everything in the forum you will learn a lot, but the final decision should always be yours.

Totally agree about takind advice from other people. Most crypto youtubers are just conmen. I was with Jake Gordon who is a great guy. Had only been a member for a month and he took us all out in London, paid for hotel and everything. He actually shows his portfolios as well whereas a lot of them tell you to buy a certain coin that they either haven't bought or are just going to pump and dump you.

That dickhead Andrew Tate is manipulating the market now too with his Top G coin. House of crypto guys found a way of tracking his wallet etc but I really can't be bothered with that which may or may not be a bad thing. It absolutely exploded by an insane amount and of course then went down quicker than a 20 dollar whore! I have made a few quid of memes like Pepe and Brett but they are basically just gambling!

Most meme tokens are a gamble, and looking from the aspect of profit, it can be said they are short-term investments.

In other words, I would separate 3 groups
- The lowest level of risk, possible to make a profit in the short term but more profitable in the long run (Bitcoin and probably Eth)
- Medium level of risk, value growth is very slow and it is difficult to expect large upward swings and high percentage profit. Although there is always a possibility that one of them "explodes" x10. (Mostly major coins from the top 50 on CMC)
- High level of risk, all newly created or those in the making, various altcoins (of which there are frankly fewer and fewer) and tokens, while "memes" are currently hot. They can bring high profits, but most often it is a short-term peak and daily monitoring is necessary in order to exit at the right moment. Because after that there is usually a complete crash and the token becomes worthless. They are often subject to manipulation by the creators and the community, so they are often overrated.

This is just my opinion in brief, it should not be taken as a definition, there is certainly room for analysis.

All valid points and I do research as much as I can. I know a lot of the youtubers are just conmen so if they are pimping a coin too heavily that normally rings alarm bells!

For some reason a lot of them seem to talk about HBAR and QNT but I don't really rate either of them although I have friends who are extremely bullish on them so hard to know as they have been in crypto much longer than me but neither of those coins are showing signs of life!

I don't know if there are scam Youtubers since I don't watch videos from any Youtuber, but whether they are scammers or not, they make their videos, charging (sometimes a lot) to promote coins/tokens. That's something that many X/Twitter users, usually with many followers, also do. It is a promotion based on payment, something that for me is not reliable at all, since on many occasions those Twitter/Youtube users do not even try to delve into the projects, they only say how good and revolutionary those projects are, and that investors are going to make millions.

Don't let the “opinions” of some dictate where you should invest your funds. That is something that only you should decide after reading and researching a lot about a specific project.

I personally know the case of a person who invested $250k in a token promoted by a Youtuber. The result was the worst of all, he sold at a loss and only had about $2,000 left. A few weeks later, the project team deleted the official website and social media accounts, and they disappeared completely.

The question I sometimes ask myself is how many people has this happened to? How many millions of dollars have been lost (or changed hands) in a short time?. It is normal to make mistakes, but learning from those mistakes and the mistakes of others would avoid many problems.

Almost every day I receive excellent investment offers via Telegram, all very "promising". I think that even Elon Musk would probably go bankrupt if he believed in it and "invested" in such schemes.

Somewhere I have no empathy for all the naive and greedy people who spent their life savings based on YouTube promotion videos.

I don't feel sorry for them nor have I empathy for people who do that. What I mean is that there are people who invest large amounts without knowing what they are really doing. Although we know that any investment can go wrong for many reasons, it seems that for some investing is nothing more than a lottery.
