Title: Do not gamble in front of children
Post by: Altcoin1998$ on January 01, 2024, 06:20:50 AM
Gambling is a serious addiction especially those who get involved in this serious addiction cannot easily get rid of the addiction. There are many gamblers in our society who become addicted to gambling in front of small children, in this case the children are mentally attracted to those forbidden games. At some point, children imitate all these addictions in themselves in such a way that later they themselves become professional gamblers. Many school going boys in my area have become big gamblers especially those boys whose fathers have a history of gambling too. So for the time being Guardians should not be addicted to gambling in front of small children.

Gambling can have a devastating effect on children. I have seen many people in our area lose their wealth through gambling. They used to gamble in front of their children. Still his children eagerly imitated the parents but without any money. In the future they have become total gamblers. At present they are so addicted to gambling that they end up selling their land but spending money on gambling and incurring huge losses. So you should never gamble in front of children. And if they are going to do these things then they must be restrained from these things so that the future generations can be saved from them and its harmful effects cannot have any effect on them.

In my opinion Protecting kids from gaming exposure is very essential. Gambling addiction has the power to profoundly affect young minds causing them to emulate similar actions and potentially develop a major addiction in the future. I think It is imperative for parents and guardians to abstain from gambling activities in front of their children in order to shield them from detrimental impacts and avoid encouraging these bad habits.

I assume those boys are still minors. If someone is still attending school, it generally suggests that they are below the age limit required for gambling. If they have developed a habit of gambling despite being underage, it may imply that there are no strict regulations in your area for minors attempting to gamble.

Parents shouldn't gamble in front of their children, however, for a more effective prevention of gambling among the younger generation, strict enforcement of restrictions on underage gambling is necessary.

Yes, guardians are the only ones responsible for preventing children from gambling. If they can be aware of their children then surely they can ensure the future of their children. They should understand their children about gambling and educate children about the dangers of gambling. Be aware of how gambling negatively affects people socially. As guardians they must be aware of where and what their children are doing. They should be aware that their children do not get addicted to prohibited substances, liquor, alcohol etc.

Yes it is very important topic. Because some times We have been making this mistake subconsciously. Children's are valuable assets for any country even for a family. But when we made this mistake infront them, It's negative impact creating on them. So we have to more careful about gamble infront of children.

Because gambling is very dangerous habit. When a man addicted on gambling then he fell unconscious. So we should always careful about it.

The situation with children and gambling can be understood in two ways. First, they are to young to be involved in adults money oriented life. They dont understand value of money and make reckless decisions. They can be cheated by much elder kids or adults. On the other hand, gambling (card games for example) can be used for teaching math. Gambling can be a fun game to kill time. All depends on how you present and position gambling for kids. If it is for fun, then that isnt bad thing to show them. If it is a process to get money, then they are to young for such knowledge.

Gambling in front of children is prohibited by State laws and that is why children are even prohibited from gambling. There is an age restriction for gambling depending on the country and the type of gambling but most countries have it at 18 and others 21 meaning that it is illegal for a person below 18 years or below 21 to gamble as the case may be.

Owing to the above, gambling in front of a child is even illegal because gambling is addictive and children tend to emulate whatever they see since they are not mature enough to know the implications of such addiction. Records have it that children who grow up in a gambling-ridden environment tend to embrace gambling so early in life even before attaining the legal age for gambling. This same group of people can easily become so toxic due to the pain and mental disturbance that comes from losing a bet.

Conclusively, gambling in the front of children is wrong and is a crime that should be looked into and a punitive measure should prescribed for those found wanting.

A responsible adult or a parent who values the life and well-being of children wouldn't like to gamble in front of kids. But the society we live in seems to forget that, we have kids around us watching the things we do.

Gambling has turned out to be a global phenomenon that every locality now has and people can also have online access to them easily.

With the so called aim of making money through gambling, a father, or a grown-up adult does gamble in front of kids without minding the negative impacts or message they are passing on to the kids.

Nowadays, you will now see a young boy not up to 18 years, old predicting a team that would win or lose in a given match.

This is amongst the numerous reasons why gamblers are advised to gamble responsibly.   As a responsible parent, you should never make the mistake of doing such in the presence of your kids because kids are very much curious about everything they see someone doing not to talk of when it involves their parents or they see their parents doing such often. As kids they are, without thinking the repercussion of it, they would want to give it a try  and in the cause of doing such, they become addicted to it and constantly engaging in such without their parents knowledge. It is very dangerous if they should start such at their early age and have no o control without their parents guidance.

Adult are suppose to be an example to the younger generations, kids are very sharp in grabbing things, they tend to grow up with the things they see growing up for instances if it’s a family that loves hunting and probably going for fishing from time to time. The kid will end up exhibiting this habit when his grown. some people are just to carried away and out of conscience to even notice that they are doing too much, gambling in front of kids is just way too much for me. That is not setting good example and that is a problem.
Such act is a sign of addiction, because something you have no control and conscience for is pure addiction and the earlier the realization the better.  We should be able to control ourselves and not being controlled.

As a mother one thing I understood from children is that they don't just look at what are we doing but they are imitators and replicate whatever we are doing after we might have left them in an idle mood or in a lonely place they surely practice everything we are doing, that is why is not encouraging to gamble in the front of our children or having any deal in front them as they will easily pick it up from you. As a gambler it is advisable we don't disclosed any irrelevant secrete to them and remain hidden for their future sake.

One of the scenarios that I noticed around my area is that in the market there are minors doing gambling, even better than me because I dont know how they play it. This is the result of their parents also playing those kinds of gambling games that those kids are watching, and even though they just think that it is a game, later on they start to bet money on it. The worst case is that as they grow up, they learn more and gamble harder which makes them very prone to addiction and just relying on gambling.

You are very much correct. Children are very curious about anything and everything they come in contact with. They do not have that idea or knowledge to know what is bad or what is good. What ever they see any elderly person around them do be it their parents or not they would like to imitate what they have seen and heard and they do not care about the consequences of their actions because they have no experience of what it feels like to do what they have seen.

That is why when ever they are alone, they practice what ever they have seen their parents or guardians doing in their presence. This is the reasons why people are advised not to do everything in the sight of their children because they watch and copy their actions. So therefore, the issue of children gambling must have been the outcome of what their parents or guardians do in their presence and they must have picked it up from them.

Children will directly imitate what you do in front of the child. If you scold a lot in front of children from childhood, then children will use those scoldings from then or if you make them in a very nice environment, then they will develop very nicely. You live in your family and while living in the family you openly discuss gambling in front of the children. For the first few days you may think that discussing gambling is not affecting my children badly but when you regularly discuss gambling in front of them you may find that at some point they question you about it which is never good for a child. If the child is affected by gambling at a young age, the child will never grow up normally, so even if you gamble, it is better not to discuss it in front of the children.

What do you mean by "never grow up normally". Gambling is not a disease. That is not something that person gets infected with and it does not harm health nor shorten life.

We do lots of things in front of children, including gambling, but still each of them grow up with own interests and as an individual. I know that this is not recommended to gamble in front of children that are easy to impress positively and negatively. Most important is to teach then that they should not gamble when they are short in money and they should not gamble to solve that.

I don't subscribe to the opinion that everyone who is involved in gambling is, or will be, addicted to it. It's as silly as saying that everyone who drinks alcohol is an alcoholic.
But 100% agree on being a good example to your kids. Raising children is not about what you say to them, but what you're showing them with your own life.
You want them to grow up to be good people? Become one yourself first.

People can speculate with "children will be like their parents". If parents gamble, children will gamble as well. But that does not always happen. However I did not get your idea of "showing with own life" instead of saying something. Showing example is good, but what do you plan to show ? Show how you gamble? Show how you not gamble? Imo the best way of raising children is explaining everything to them. Explaining what might or might not happen if they gamble, how things can go, what can happen. Otherwise it looks strange to stop gambling only because kid would see it. It would be strange to gamble also without explaining why we do it.

I agree, children are in a clean slate and it has been said that a child's mind is a tabularasa which means that what the child sees is what fills the mind of the child. A child sometimes cannot question the good or bad of an action hence they believe that everything does by an adult is right and worthy of emulation. This makes it improper to gamble in the front of children since they will certainly copy that behavior on the ground that it is a good practice.

I'm totally inline with what you said, children have a very soft brain, which is vast and fast in taking in what is seen and said, Children wants to copy everything their parents do,because they believe whatever their parents do is the best, but they do not know that most parents really are babies and do not know what they are doing.Parents who gamble infront of their children are ruining their children's future, and would regret the actions of their their children when they grow big.
The worst thing that someone can do to any child is by introducing him or her into gambling, because from that day,his money will no longer be saved.

How would you tell your children why you gamble though? Is it really wise to tell them when they're just 8 years old and explain that their parents find enjoyment in gambling? I'm not sure how it would affect their development. If they associate risk-taking activity like gambling, wouldn't they just use that as a rationale to do the same thing even though in reality they don't have the capacity (capital or others) to do so?

On the other hand, some reports show that the majority of children/teenagers who do gambling know that it is dangerous for them[1]. The majority of them also stated that their parents prefer them not to gamble at all. I'd like to believe that if their parents are doing the same activity, the chance for children to follow them will increase regardless of what their parents tell them. The good news is less than 5% of children in the research activity are deemed as problem gamblers or at risk of being one.

Here in our country, it's considered a crime if you let minors play or you are intentionally gambling in front of your kids, it is considered corruption of minors, and there's a fine attached to it, there are a lot of laws in our country that protect the welfare of minors, because we see minors as the future of our nation, so our lawmakers made sure that the minors are protected and all the gambling platforms here in our country like the lottery they post the sign that they do not allow minors within their premises.

I remember with the best quote "like father like son", can imagine when gamble in front of children they will allow with our habit, better don't gamble in front of our children and keep minimize with computer or mobile phone desktop in front of them when position active on gambling.
Some countries, gambling is illegal activities although make it have fun only but its not good thing to show for our children, they are still on young age and better teach them good thing and as father have show them the best and good attitude for them in the future.

I remember a time when my little came visiting and during that time my elder sibling was still at home and he has the habit of always saying curse words – and to our surprise before my cousin left for his parents house he also started saying curse words like my elder brother did and the same can be said about gambling, we could just look at them and be like; he’s still a little kid there’s nothing he can do about it but in his mind he’s already trying to practice it and put it to the test and when he gets his hands on a device he’ll surely be interested to take a peep at a gambling site.

There are things I don’t do around kids, which include gambling, spending money lavishly and also insulting others they tend to easily pick up that kind of habit.

There are many parents who often make this mistake. In fact, young children's brains are so sharp that they can grasp anything as soon as they see it, so never gamble or engage in immoral activities in front of young children. Like your society we have many gamblers whose gambling addiction has had a severe impact on their children. So we change the nature of those who have such a nature and make our children as human beings.

There's a saying that children learn faster, which is true, and any reasonable guidance or parents would not want to gamble so hard in their kids presence to the extent of converting the children to gamblers at a young age. Gambling is usually for people under 18+ and therefore parents should be mindful of how they expose gambling related stuffs to their kinds.

A child's intelligence develops so quickly that he learns very quickly what he sees from the environment. In particular, what a child's parents do has a 75% chance of developing in the child. If a child's parents are addicted to gambling, that child has a 100 percent chance of becoming addicted to gambling. Again, children are curiously interested in all forbidden things, especially if alcohol and beedi can be consumed in front of a child, then that child will become interested in forbidden goods. So one should not play alcohol, giza, cigarettes and cards in front of a child out of curiosity because by seeing these a child learns to master them in himself and later he becomes a full-fledged gambler.

Gambling may occasionally ruin life, and kids learn up lessons from what they witness. To be more specific, anything that can lead to addiction is not something that parents should do in front of their kids. Examples of such things are drinking, smoking, gambling, and explicit content.

Early gambling exposure can have a number of detrimental consequences on children, including a lack of understanding of the risks of gambling addiction and difficulties controlling emotions and taking preventative measures to avoid addiction.

Gambling is frowned upon in society, these gamblers should never gamble in front of children. A person who gambles becomes addicted and can never get rid of gambling. So such games should not be gambled in front of young children because they can become addictive, and will lose focus in studies. Basically young children will be at the reading table if they become addicted to gambling and will continue to destroy the next generation. As gambling leads to the destruction of the next generation, such games should not be brought before young children and therefore gambling is prohibited in the society.

Children learn by observation mostly and not necessarily what you ask them to do or not to do. If a child grows up and finds out that his or her parents are serious gamblers and they derived fun from gambling and also makes some money from gambling, there is little or no chance that that child will not be a serious gambler.

This is why the government of every nation if I am not mistaken has In one way or the other prohibited gambling for underage children. Gambling is a risky type of business and only those who are able to earn and have the ability to make their independent decisions and also embrace the consequences of their decisions should be allowed to gamble. The sanity of children should be preserved until they are of age to know the difference between good and bad.

Gambling is never a problem if all the things and rules that governs it is followed and also same logic follows for drugs, smoking and drinking. The thing is that these things are meant to be used to a certain limit whereas anyone who goes beyond that limit then abuses it use and the results now makes it destructive to the person , I mean even the holy book said drink but drink to be a fool and these things are not meant to be practice among young mind like that of the children because of how fragile it is and that's when the negative effect takes in.

Gambling being exposed to children at a tender age is very bad because even an adult find it difficult to stop such then talk more a child who grew up with the habit being installed in his brain, you can only imagine the damage it will have done to him if it hadn't been to an obsessive addict.

This is very correct and this is so because children cannot decipher the implication of any behaviour exhibited by his/her parents/guardian and so belief that every behaviour put forward by his/her guardian is a good behaviour.

Children learn and register attitude through what they see and when they are expose to a gambling environment they cannot easily copy such attitude and since they are too young to control certain things it becomes difficult to control the worries and sadness that comes from losing a bet. By implication, they tend to show characters that are not encouraged by societies.

Gambling is never a problem if all the things and rules that governs it is followed and also same logic follows for drugs, smoking and drinking. The thing is that these things are meant to be used to a certain limit (...)

This whole thread is about setting good examples for children, or, at very least, not exposing them to bad examples.
So an adult father might not be breaking any rules by gambling, even when he does so in front of the children, but that still has a negative effect on them.
Rules and laws are not perfect and it's best to apply common sense as well.

Yes, because parents are role models for their children and also the children in their environment. Children are very reliable examples, especially if they are still small and cannot yet explore on their own or take their own initiative. Usually they will be interested and do something that they are used to seeing around them. and if they see it continuously then it will be embedded in their memory which will last there for a long time.

That's why it's best not to gamble in front of our children because after all our children may still not be able to do it and may not even be ready to be involved here. and at least we should limit their knowledge about gambling at an early age until they are really ready and really understand what gambling is like. This is to reduce risks from an early age and make things wiser in the future.

Precisely. Unfortunately people either don't put much thought into raising their own children or think that it's enough to *tell* them what's right and wrong, what to do, and what to avoid. The reality is harsh, all the talking is in vain if you don't lead by example and don't have your life in order.

This same topic have been discussed on another forum which is btt, and I will still hold same opinion as I held on btt, gambling in front of your kids have no effect on them, and this is because at their tender age, their brains aren't well developed enough to differentiate between a gambling game and a video game, so, let's say for example , you are playing a slot game, there are so many slot-game-like video games on Google play store and iPhone app store you can download and give your kids to play, and they will think they are playing exactly the same game they saw you playing the other day.

What I have to say is that, children who grow up to become gamblers mostly get into it through their friends mostly in schools or in the area where they live, so as a parent, you can hide your gambling activities from your kids all you want, but if you do not monitor the kind of friends your children keep ot follow, they will still grow up to become gamblers under your nose.

That's right, from the outside the main factor is not the actual parents, just crazy parents who deliberately gamble in front of their children,
as parents we must often communicate to our children what their activities are outside and if they have already gambled before becoming addicted, we are constantly warned of the dangers they will experience in the future if they are addicted to gambling. Examples can be taken of people who have fallen into poverty and been ruined because of gambling.

Many factors are pushing young people into gambling. Copying their parents' behaviour is one of them and friends' influence is another. But it's still better to not gamble in front of the kids. It won't be 100% effective in keeping them away, but at leat it will reduce the risk of them getting hooked in.
On second thought, maybe instead of hiding that from them, it would be better to explain what gambling is, what is the house edge, why they're almost guaranteed to lose in the long run, and how addictive and destructive it can be when you lose self-control.

I have seen many fathers who smoke in front of their children, not only smoking in front of the child but smoking in front of the whole family as if it is normal for them. In this case, smoking is doing more harm to the person than it is to his child while he is indifferent about it. A person who can smoke in front of his family and children may not discuss gambling in front of his children.  Those who have little family education or who have little idea about it do this kind of work. A lot of work can be done even if various information is kept secret. Discussing gambling in front of the child should be discussed in a way that benefits the child rather than harming the child.

The example with smoking is not the best and instantly a good example. What about people, who smoke, but no one smoked in their family ever smoked. There cases like you have mentioned - a family member smoke in front or whole family like it is nothing, but children get no addiction to smoking. They only get familiar with smell of smoke. People that surrond matter. Not family, but those who are same age or in same group (same schoil class for example).

Despite addiction and money problem, what other bad things can gambling cause? Kids have addiction to candies, yet parents still buy them. Kids dont have problems with money, as parents are their bank accounts. You have said that gambling is a game of excitement, then why kids arent privileged for excitement?

Imo it will be wrong to claim that gambling is something bad and totally not for the kids. It will be also wrong to claim completely opposite. Imagine situation. Parents taught that gambling is bad, kids turns into adult, is looking for a job and there is a vacant position at the casino. What should kid to? Leave that chance or use it?

Parents, ask yourself, what was the last thing you did in front of children, and what was their reaction. Did they get interested in it or continued being busy doing their own things?

The education of children is very complicated, sometimes the things shown or not shown to them turn out to be harmful, I couldn't say if it is good or not, I think and affirm that depending on the age of the children, things must be shown as they are. so that at one point without our supervision they get to know those things and suddenly get in there and start doing inappropriate things, like children, they can get into phones, tablets, the internet for them is like water for a fish, they know a lot, and it's something for which they handle very well, we as parents must be attentive and guide them.

In this sense I can say that when we are watching any type of thing on the internet, and if they are present, we must explain, the casino is a site for adults, because it has to do with money, something that a child should not have access to, You always have to explain it to them in such a way that when they see it they are not tempted to do it.
