Title: image resize
Post by: hugeblack on February 26, 2024, 08:01:55 AM
I don't know if anyone noticed this, but when I clicked on the image in this topic, its size changed ---> https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=318223.0

I'll try it here

This worked, I suggest that this setting be the default for all images so that the image is automatically reset using this height and anyone can click on it to enlarge it.

Code: [Select]

And click again to return it to the size set in parameters. But it works only if there's no link (URL) set behind the picture. So sometimes you want to see the entire picture and then you go to another web site instead... ;D

lets try:

It works, not perfectly but it works as the link opens every time you click on the image.

Code: [Select]

Yes, I also noticed that, whenever you click on it, that link opens but the image gets to its full scale. I think this feature works on this forum only because I personally haven't clicked on any images on Bitcointalk so I'm not sure if a similar feature like this is present on that forum or not.

You are right. Both features work. :)

I just avoid clicking when with a link... ::)

No, it doesn't work there. This version of the script of SMF is newer.

This is not always needed if images have normal size, but some limitation could be added in case when images are huge and oversized.
As a result pages would open faster and it would be easier to browse the topics and have conversation.

Surprised you are just getting to know about this features, it's one that have been for a very long time, atleast. I've noticed this since 2020 when I joined this forum, you can resize an image you are posting to whatever smaller size to fit in the page of this site, which sure will appear at the size you attribute to it, but if for any reason, the images can't be seen clearly, a user can click on the image ones to enlarge it, and ones again to take the image back to its normal specified size, cool feature.

Now, speaking on making the small sized imaged the default setting, I don't see how that can work, because some images come at an extra large format where if no resizing elements is attributed to the image, it will still appear too large even when there is a default forum setting that automatically resizes images to look smaller when posted, and this means that, the user posting the image will still have to resize the image him or her self.

This is my opinion, if I understand what op is suggesting clearly though.

This enlarge image feature is very interesting.

I understand they never had a reason to update SMF version, as SMF is highly customizable and works very well.

but it is nice to see the differences.

Smaller images size are better, since this is a text-based discussion forum, pictures are used for clarification.

It has only been 3 months since I joined the forum and I have not used it before, so it is a somewhat new feature for me.

I also now paid attention to it for the first time as a forum feature. And I have to admit that it's quite a useful thing, otherwise, I resize images manually every time because I don't want to have huge images in the post.

Sometimes when I link a video on BTT it is "hidden" behind the picture, and I realized that many people don't realize that clicking on the picture actually goes to the video. It would be much simpler to just post a link, but when we already have methods that allow us to make things more pleasing to the eye, why not use them.

I don't have a habit of clicking on images to make them bigger, and I am very careful clicking any links in general, especially in emails and forums (for better security).
This is important for some people and I can understand that, but for me it's waste of time adding this in my posts.

This way if you post setup with source link and image link then of course the image will be smaller and the link will be more on the wall. So you can try this way and you will surely succeed.

Yeah, when we click on the link it opens in a new tab but the pic size also gets big, and when you click it again it will open in a new tab but the size on the previous tab of the pic will reduce back to the normal size. I actually noticed this the last time I used the picture in one of my posts. I was also amazed to see this feature because it is a good one.

Sometimes the other person sized a picture so small that it is difficult to read it but when you click it to resize it to a bigger one, it becomes easy to read, I liked this feature but I don't usually use it as most of the pictures are already big enough. There are many features this forum has different than BTT and we are yet to explore them.

ps: even when you click the image in preview state, it resize to big and smaller one.
