Gambling discussion / Powerball "winner" sues the lottery office

Powerball: US man sues lottery after being told $340m win is error

It happened last January 2023 and the next hearing will be on February 23, 2024. I think the lottery can easily prove if it was indeed a mistake and that means they do not have to pay the man the jackpot. However, they could still be liable for some damages inflicted to the ticket buyer because of their negligence. Imagine seeing your numbers show up as the winning number only to be told that it was just an error ;D

Solana Forum / Solana network was down for 5 hours today
« on: February 06, 2024, 01:30:27 PM »
When was the last time this happened? IIRC, it was last year or maybe 2022? It's not that I hate Solana but this is really the one weakness of this blockchain. In fact, I also use it for transferring funds. I only have an issue with supporters who do not see the trade off here. You enjoy the cheap transaction fees and fast confirmation but, in exchange, you get a centralized protocol. Outages like this will happen from time to time as a result.

Philippines (Tagalog) / GCash IPO
« on: January 18, 2024, 05:51:41 AM »

USDT Forum / Tether disappointed with UN report
« on: January 16, 2024, 02:21:45 PM »
The story goes like:

The UN claims that USDT has been instrumental in the money laundering and illegal gambling activities in East Asia. Basically, USDT is one of the currencies used by an alleged criminal organization/s for cross-border transfers and money bleaching.

Tether is unhappy about this and said they've been very cooperative with law enforcement around the globe. They boast about USDT's traceability and they also flex over US$300 million they've frozen over the past few months.

Referral Links / $MANTA Network Airdrop
« on: December 21, 2023, 05:01:33 AM »
In case you have some ETH or USDC sitting in your wallet or you want to take advantage of new airdrops just by staking, then check Manta's airdrop.

How does this work?
1. You need a referral code before you can join (check any of my ref links below):
- https://newparadigm.manta.network?inviteCode=8RPWT
- https://newparadigm.manta.network?inviteCode=R6LHB
- https://newparadigm.manta.network?inviteCode=A0Z2E
- https://newparadigm.manta.network?inviteCode=LKFRO
- https://newparadigm.manta.network?inviteCode=ITRNN
- https://newparadigm.manta.network?inviteCode=ZKQ0Q
- https://newparadigm.manta.network?inviteCode=HNFRE

2. Connect your Twitter account

3. Connect your Ethereum wallet like Metamask

4. Bridge ETH or USDC

Manta is already a live L2 with native yield for ETH and stablecoins. As of the latest update, there are already $112M bridged on this network.
There will be 50,000,000 Manta tokens that will be distributed in January 2024.

Additional tip: You'll get more rewards if you use a wallet that has previous interactions/transactions.

The transaction fee could be around $20-$30 but I think the rewards will be more than worth it.

I don't understand all the details but, apparently, attackers were able to drain the 9 pools on the platform siphoning $11 Million.

If you have technical knowledge on coding, here's the article for you - ValueDeFi Incident: Incorrect Weighted Constant Product Invariant Calculation

Quote
Summary

This incident was due to the mis-calculation by the protocol on the adopted weighted constant product invariant for non 50–50 ratio pools. There is no flashloan or price manipulation involved. The consequence of mis-calculated invariant allows for draining of affected pool funds. Currently, the bug has been exploited to attack 9 non 50–50 ratio pools with the estimated loss of $11M.

Coinmarketcap also covered the story HERE and enumerated the affected pools:
  • 15k BNB – 2.7k
  • FARM – 1.7k
  • BASv2 – 8.5M
  • BDO – 68.3k
  • BUSD – 41.4k
  • MDG – 945k
  • VBOND – 1.2M
  • BAC – 11k FIRO

Cryptocurrency Trading / Careful with Arbitrage
« on: May 07, 2021, 07:10:15 AM »
Be careful playing the arbitrage game on centralized exchanges or risk getting locked out.

Example:

I don't know if you've noticed but ETC (Ethereum Classic) had a pump recently and it's currently trading above $130 except on one exchange (Poloniex).

You might be tempted to buy there and take advantage of the huge price difference but don't be too quick and act carelessly. You should understand why that's the case first. According to the conversation in their trollbox, Poloniex had disabled the withdrawal of ETC in the last 3 months which forced traders to just sell them for other cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin Forum / Bitcoin (Low) Fees Monitoring
« on: May 04, 2021, 05:09:56 AM »
If you've been postponing moving your BTC, now is your best chance to do it. All the issues that happened in China which affected the miners had been resolved and everything's back to normal capacity.

According to https://mempool.space/, fees could go to as low as 4 sats/vbyte. Take advantage of this chance.

I plan to bump this thread when fees becomes low.

Bounty Cheaters & Duplicate Accounts Accusations / Cartesi Bounty
« on: April 29, 2021, 06:25:45 PM »
One post about swapping tokens reminded me of one bounty I joined in the past which is Cartesi. I decided to check the thread again and the SPREADSHEET and it appears someone has enriched himself/herself from using my account (and others). I honestly thought I missed out on the verification period and wasn't expecting to make it to the distribution list. Apparently, someone else has done that for me but used a different ethereum address (of course).

He/She used this addy to consolidate all CTSI 0x632427A017AC20eD2C5b68DC2cB42f4F3317211E

Accounts involved and address used:
1. Zed30 0x897Dc69f24468ee16131356Dac67D5a4651ac2Af
2. Cryptoz 0x3D2D2B819EE31e6dE0Bb90536FeD35F0398c5cD4
3. Quart 0xdD6c87e62Ac752802ee3B9DE9395c7C2d5241FfC
4. Kitme 0xe609C0463f8E2aE66Bf41eDC9079e14279aB9aE3
5. blue 0x84AEA6d2789Df72D2a403eCFC472a222b00DA49b

I believe that at least 1 of the 4 managed to complete verification and claim his/her reward. Therefore, the real owner of the wallet 0x632427A017AC20eD2C5b68DC2cB42f4F3317211E

Ethereum Forum / Yet another Ethereum gas fee thread
« on: April 25, 2021, 08:14:13 AM »
It seems like many users here are not yet updated to the recent developments in Ethereum blockchain specifically the gas changes.

If you haven't noticed yet, the gas price had been reduced to 36-46 gwei and gas fees to $1-$2 for transferring ETH.

In case you are wondering why, the reduced fee was due to the Ethereum miners raising the gas limit to 15 Million from the previous 12.5 Million. What this means is that each block can now accommodate more transactions/data which helps reduce network congestion.

As you can notice, fees over smart contracts also decreased. You can now transfer erc-20 tokens at a lesser cost compare to the previous weeks/months.

That seems to be the case now as the TRC-20 version increased and surpassed the ERC-20 version's marketcap according to data from Coinmetrics.

There's no doubt in my mind that the reason for this is hugely related to Ethereum's high transaction fees. Although I never used USDT because I prefer BUSD, I would also pick the TRC-20 version if I have no other options. Let's be practical.
