Mesmerized by Meme Coins?

There is no question that we are now in the new er where cryptocurrency is here to stay and will continue to even grow further into the future and with its influence already now recognized by many financial institutions and many governments we can be sure its future will be solid, strong and prosperous albeit the presence of government's regulatory power can be creating some tug-of-war from time to time.

Within the cryptocurrency industry, one of the many things that really mesmerized me is the commanding presence of meme tokens.   As defined, meme token or coin "is a term used to refer to cryptocurrencies named after characters, individuals, animals, artwork, or anything else that can be mimicked. Most are supported by enthusiastic online traders and followers and are generally intended to be light-hearted and fun. While meme coins may be entertaining to some, they are also highly risky investments and may hold little or no intrinsic value." Considered as the official meme coin, Dogecoin was released intended as a joke but then it slowly catches fire and supporters and today it even got Elon Musk as its most famous supporter and promoter...such an achievements are certainly not a joke, for sure.

In my humble view, I would compare meme coins or tokens to comedy movies which are intended to make people laugh and be entertain but looking at them as a business model they can be bringing in gargantuan money to the box-office with the support of the viewing public.

What are the meme coins included in your portfolio as we are waiting for the bullish season to peak in 2024 and 2025?

Well, comedy movies are still a business and can still entertain their viewers. Then again, it's funny to look at meme coins, but there are many people who get rich from meme coins, to be honest. That's the thing that others can't seem to accept either.

Even most of the people who laugh at meme coins and their imaginary bad impressions of meme coins that appear in the crypto space are also the ones who are often embarrassed in the end. Just like what happened with Pepe coin, there were too many people who didn't believe that, and most even said that the Pepe coin is just a piece of shit, but look what happened, Pepe is included in the top listed here in the crypto business market.

Now, how about those who looked down on Pepe before?

There has been a change of perspective even among people who used to say to avoid shitcoins. They are now part of the group that change their tone to be water which simply means go with the flow. The explosion of some meme coins is just hard to ignore.

I remember when dogecoin reached 0.73$ and how the world is shocked by it, i think it started all there and people are seeking which meme coin influencers investing in to go with the flow. And now these memecoins are entertaining people by giving gains for short term trades or hold. In my port i invest in $Bonk under Solana ecosytem, the backed up for this memecoin is so strong for me to trust in it for a short period of time. I'm not planning to hold it for too long, if i'm satisfied with my gains i sell it all and wait for some good coins to invest again, that's my cycle.

Yes! Some meme coins start with just low to nothing prices, when they starts the marketing plan with hype then it goes crazy. It's funny how it just starts from jokes then it will goes viral and becomes famous

Everyone is after the meme-coins because people consider them as a way for quick riches but I don't find the topic of meme coins interesting enough and that's why I don't have any of them in my portfolio.

I do have many altcoins in my portfolio but none of those is a meme coin, even the Dogecoin and Shiba Inu aren't the ones that I would think about when it comes to investing. I do trade meme coins sometimes but I never invest in those coins.

I know it would be great if someone can find hidden meme gems but it's not for everyone to find those gems and that's why a good investor would never consider investing in meme coins for long term profits.

In the past, emme coins were not really seen by many people, especially by developers, but finally, because of the success of Doge, since then, many developers have designed meme coins. In fact, if we look, there have been many meme coins created with various names which I think are really unique and sometimes quite strange.

This is the hype of meme coins. Plus, there are a lot of people who have FOMO with various hype meme coins. And so far, the hype about meme coins is not over, it continues to continue with new meme coins.

Personally, I only focus on Doge coin in my portfolio. However, it cannot be denied that there is a Shiba Inu that I bought in the previous season and because I was late in taking profits, I ended up being late, and it is still in my portfolio. But don't expect to add more coins.

Actually this is true, wayback when Dogecoin is really just that free faucet on some sites and even given up that handsomely on casino sites as faucets but on the time that it did really make out that huge jump then it did really make out such trend about meme coins and here comes that SHIB and other meme that start to flourish out into the market on which it did become a trend
afterwards on which we know that this is something that becomes that a trend and followed up with those tons of shit memecoins in the market. Although its shit but there is really a demand
into it on which tons of people had been trying out to catch into those potential next Doge or Shib and thats why there is really that a demand.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of meme coins although I know they carry the potential to get their investors extreme profit in some occasions. I would rather invest my money in a cryptocurrency that can get me $50 on my $100 investment during the bull run while keeping my investment safe or safer and giving me mental rest instead of investing it in a meme coin hoping to get $200 out of my $100 while staying in stress throughout the period until I sell them for profit.

So it's basically too stressful for me or for anyone who invests in such coins and tokens while knowing that they can lose the money they are investing in it because meme coins are never guaranteed to succeed because an audience isn't going to laugh on every joke they hear.

Sometimes we wonder what the most people enjoy. You know what I mean. And what else has a sense that should be paid attention to is the one that is not paid attention to. Just like the meme coins that we are talking about here, the majority of the communities in the field to which we belong know that meme coins are just useless coins that can often put our capital as investors in jeopardy.

And yet investors are looking for it even more, because there are many who wish or think that with small capital they can get rich suddenly, like betting on the lottery and relying on luck.

You tend to make a big shift when there's profit involved so far meme trends are continuing but not all that glitters is gold, there are so many meme coins/tokens that you don't know what meme coins are going to be the next big thing because all of these meme coins/tokens are claiming to be one.
I have the worst experience with meme coins, all the meme coins I invested are all shitcoins, and those I did not invest become profitable which is why not all the glitters are gold.

I believe that comparison is a bit too forced. People don't buy meme tokens to get entertainment, they buy them to speculate since a lot of people FOMO into it. You buy comedy movie tickets to watch a movie and get entertained. If entertainment is what you're looking for, you will buy a movie about a disastrous crypto project, not directly buy their tokens that have no liquidity on the market imo. You can say that meme tokens are a new form of high-risk investment asset, but there's no way you call a movie that unless you're the one funding the production itself. Besides, people don't buy movies to support the producers, they buy them because they want to get entertained from watching them, not making a profit from reselling them unless they're scalpers.

But yeah, meme coins are the shiny new toys. I'm one of the unfortunate (or fortunate, depending on how you look at it) ones that don't hold any meme coins. I'll stick with BTC and some layer-2 projects that have value for the ecosystem other than pumping trading volume for the sake of it.
