User Security is important, but what surprises me is how easily CEXs are hacked. FF was hacked twice in less than two months, and the total amount of money hacked reached more than $100 million during this year.

In the past, we used to hear about a hacking event every few months, but in recent years its frequency has increased rapidly.

So this is a gold mine for them. They bring money into an area in which they are very well versed. This is not a real safe for you to crack. It’s good that they are aimed at large objects and they are not interested in such pot-bellied little things like us. And we should beware of scammers who resort to to a variety of tricks and use security extensions if you often connect your wallet to various resources.

These centralized exchanges store a lot of money in online wallets, and like you know, anything online is prone to attack and hacks. There are also rumors that some of the attacks could be inside jobs, i don't know how true that can be, but that can also be the reason why they get hacked frequently.

Crazy thing is if they don't get hacked, then they lose the money in fractional reserve 'scam' or just obvious misappropriation of funds, i.e. sbf and ftx.

Being alert and careful is very important and necessary in all actions. Moreover, in the crypto world, it is very important and influential. However, we really understand the situation that maintaining privacy is very important, but sometimes we neglect to do it. But at least, we can always try to be more careful.

As for the several lists you have written, they are quite complete. and this is all also because of the many conditions and events out there where people are very careless with their data, which makes them quite bad at making decisions.

In 2023, scammers managed to steal a staggering $4 billion in crypto. Now let's do our best to ensure that when they tally up the numbers for 2024, you won't be a part of that statistic.

Based on my firsthand experience, there is a tendency to disregard basic security practices when the market is generating profits and FOMO sets in. It's astonishing how our minds can become consumed during these times, leading us to jump from one protocol or website to another in search of the next major opportinity. This post serves as a friendly reminder that while pursuing such, we must not forget to:

These measures may seem elementary, yet it is astounding how easily they can be disregarded when one is fixated on chasing the "next 100x" gain.

It's very true that times like these are massive opportunities for many, which can also divert one's attention away from all important security matters. The majority of those who look forward to making profits during these times are sometimes those who haven't fallen victim to scams and hacking related issues. Just take a good look at last year's statistics, it shows how high the theft rate is and how irresponsible some crypto hodlers can be. Security is surely everyone's duty, and I hope the majority of us stay alert.

I just saw one of the campaign managers getting scammed in telegram, so it's better to be suspicious to all received messages, and limit the use of Telegram and similar messangers.
100% agree, the number of scammers in Telegram is simply unbelievable, i used to think that only newbies are vulnerable to scam attempts on that platform, but every now and then we see 'older' members also falling victim to scammers there.

Telegram is considered scammers heaven. It's filled with so many spammers, scammers, and illegal stuff that one cannot imagine. For example, if you join a crypto based telegram channel and post something like you wanna buy or sell your coins, you will instantly get several PMs from unknown users. At first, it may seem like they are good people who simply wanna buy/sell but no! All of them are scammers, and if you ignore them long enough, you'll see their accounts were deleted and don't exist anymore. There were many times I was offered jobs, airdrops etc.

There was even a time when some unknown guy gave me a screenshot of his PC showing his exchanges, passphrase, Gmail accounts, and passwords. I knew they were all baits to lure me into logging and probably losing all of my funds. Just take a look, lol.... :P

- Never reuse passwords
- Stop downloading sketchy content from the internet
- Consider using hardware wallets for enhanced security
- Safely store away seed phrases
- Avoid visiting suspicious websites
- Verify contracts in the explorer
1. It's the best choice to avoid using the same password but you will be amazed to hear that most people are using the same password so that they can remember it. As if every platform has different passwords then it would become a little hard for us to remember them. I mostly have to use the forgot password option to access my wallet or accounts.
2. You are right we should not use APKs or unlocked versions of paid apps downloaded from Pirates sites. One of my local community members lost more than $1200 due to a vulnerable program downloaded from getintopc.
3. HW are yet expensive and mostly bought by people when they have lot of funds, but still its a good tip.
4. seed phrase is the most important thing and we should encrypt it and store it in hard form that if anyone will get hands on it won't understand it due to encryption.

Greed makes people forget about their security. People who are very greedy are often the victims of scams. when you think normally, you will definitely focus on your security first, but when you are greedy and want to get something easily, you will always make wrong decisions because greed will always make you panic. so if you always control your greed then you can be safe from all sides

Yes we should always aware about scamming. Scammer always trying to huck our valuable fund. If we unable to secure our valuable fund then it will be lost there has no doubt. So anyone should't Ignore Security. We always have to concern about security. Otherwise we will fall in big problem.

Regardless of where these data came from, you should always keep in mind that only a small part of the victims report that something happened to them, which means that the amount is much higher. We can only guess whether most of these victims are just uneducated and naive people who invest in something they have no idea about, or whether the criminals have organized themselves to the extent that they are successful even with those who have experience.

~snip~
- Never reuse passwords
- Stop downloading sketchy content from the internet
- Consider using hardware wallets for enhanced security
- Safely store away seed phrases
- Avoid visiting suspicious websites
- Verify contracts in the explorer

These measures may seem elementary, yet it is astounding how easily they can be disregarded when one is fixated on chasing the "next 100x" gain.

I would also add that you should be careful of all those who hunt their victims through social networks, presenting themselves as "hot girls" who have great offers for investing in cryptocurrencies, or have some other story with which they will try to get as much money out of you as possible.

Not so long ago I read an article about how the authorities in the Philippines (if I'm not mistaken) found a slave farm with people who were forced to do exactly such things. This only shows the scale of these operations, and that those on the other side are often forced to do things they don't want to do.

If nearly everyone knows all about security measures. If this info is being repeated basically daily on all large crypto forums and in article on numerous webpages, why people still get into troubles? Why people still lose their money? Still keep importand files on emails or desktop, still use qwerty123 like passwords and etc. Some even repeat mistakes and lose their money several times. I have been thinking about this and still havent found any explanation for reckless actions.

You should also avoid offers from platforms that looks to good to be real, because they are scammers. Just stay away from any offer, and don't allow greed make use lose what we have being accumulating over the years. Also you should only download apps from their official site to avoid downloading a fake app that can be used to drain your wallet. Avoid clicking on random links.
You have mentioned alot in these few lines of yours. Trying to double out money by connecting our wallet to websites is one good way to be hacked;
Absolutely correct.
I have a friend who has fallen victim to this kinda scam and lost a good number of BNB, that was in fact the very first day I heard and got to know such scams exists. He was asked to Connect his wallet to also called smart contract site, although if he has told me about it before proceeding, I would've been skeptical about the whole thing and possibly tried to dissuade him from doing it, but he had already been hacked and over $3k worth of BNB swiped out of his wallet in seconds and he leaned a viable lesson from the experience.

There are so many ways and methods scammers and hacker has deviced to swindle people's hard earned money, and if not careful one can fall victim without even knowing it, this calls for being super cautious and careful.

Even though you don't all mention some of the dangerous things on the internet, in general the points you convey are quite worthy of attention. Some websites now have deceptive interfaces, sometimes someone is willing to click on several buttons on the page which actually endangers their own security. This is very disturbing, but this kind of criminal model is very difficult to eliminate because the victims are always there.

It's a good idea to increase security when surfing, especially avoiding websites that collect data on our computers. Or if you want to be more secure, separate computers that store very sensitive data to avoid theft of important data.

In general, how many people are active on the forums or read anything? I think that this is a very small percentage of people and that the majority of those who invest in cryptocurrencies have very limited knowledge, even of the basics of computer literacy.

It should be taken into account that education systems differ greatly from country to country, or perhaps even from continent to continent. In some countries like India, many are uneducated because there simply aren't enough schools, and in one documentary I heard the information that that country should build one new school every 10 minutes to provide everyone with an education.

Of course, even those who are educated are often careless and rash, and when we consider that scammers use the possibilities of the internet to target their targets anytime and anywhere, then it is logical that many will fall into at least one of the countless traps they set.
