With the recent correction of bitcoin price that is affecting the crypto market, it will be best for an investor who wants to invest in altcoins for short-term profits during the bull run, to invest in top coins. Before investing in those top coins, let them have a look at their last ATH to know how well they will go in price during the upcoming bull run. For example, if an old coin has its ATH of $50, the coming bull run may have it reach $80 or so.

It’s hard to give a definite answer. Nuances decide a lot. If the old coin has exhausted its potential, then, of course, it will lose to some new coins. But on the other hand, an old coin with good capitalization will always look preferable to some new one that has nothing.The advantage of new coins is that they will be provided with good marketing, which has a great influence on attracting new funds.Therefore, for me personally there is no clear answer to this question.

The old coins that are in the top 20 will always be a good buy they have proven their worth in the market and they have proven their resiliency with thousands of coins in the market and new ones coming in to have a place in the industry, it's not easy to reach the top 100 coins/tokens in the market.

This is still a good time to buy but the best time is already past us, of course, buy at your own risk the dipping is the trend now.

If you look at various factors, of course old coins that have lots of features and support will definitely provide better profits, but that's not 100% overall because many old coins have also fallen so far that they have dropped to hundreds, even thousands, or become Dead Coins.
I'm just guessing that the old coins that are far behind are like EOS, DASH, NXT, AUGUR etc. If OP still remembers this coin then I make sure OP has very extensive experience and a lot about new and old coins which will provide an advantage in the Bull Run later.

Look at the market now, there are many new coins that are already providing benefits or have very complete features such as: SOLANA, POLYGON MATIC, POLKADOT, SHIBA, AVALANCHE, COSMOS etc.

We have old coins that are still performing very well but they are best bought when they are in accumulation, during the bear market when everything crashed. Now, most of them are now in recovery mode forming another parabolic line which may even be risky. However, some new coins are good for investment but you must makes sure that the team has a solid background about the project, I mean project like Sei, Aptos, Sui are kind of project you will want to buy without having any fear of it crashing as fake coins.

Yes, I do agree, new coins comes with risk, we still don't know if they are going to be successful or not. While BTC and ETH, both prime movers have proven themselves already. And then we have another set of meme coins like Shiba and Doge, even though that's there very definition, a pure pump and dump coins, still in the previous bull run, they gave us good profits. So it's really hard to see which one will thrive or which one is not. It's really up to us, to do our research and hope that we get lucky that the coins that we choose is going to be better in terms of technology and then the price will just follow as a result of it being invested by a lot crypto enthusiast.

Well, that's the problem, new coins can't yet show something that can make us confident like our confidence in bitcoin, eth and others, because they have just been hatched and we don't know what will happen to them when bad news comes.

I don't think that's how ATH of some coins are made, as they depend on a number of factors, for example, the development that the project is making, marketing strategies, partnerships, and new listings, etc. Besides this, they need the basic element of hype in the project that will help them to grow more than the last ATH.

And speaking of $80 ATH in comparison to $50 ATH I will say if we apply the CPI data of inflation on the price then we will realize that these $80 or $100 will have the same value that the last cycle's $50 had. Inflation has devalued the money. For example, according to BTC's ATH in 2021 is not $69K, but $77K? you can see the current ATH according to the evaluation of current price in relevance to the last cycle's price is $77k which means BTC never made a new ATH really in terms of value although the value of the dollar increased over time in developing countries as well as in developed countries. Number is just a number. Value is what matters most.

I'm not really concerned about whether the project I'm investing in is new or old, I'm only interested in their potential to generate profits in the future. If they have potential based on their solution, investment fund, and tokenomics, I will buy their tokens. Conversely, regardless of whether the project is new or old, I will skip it and look for other opportunities. Currently, we have new tokens that have increased very strongly such as KAS and OP, but we also have very impressive old tokens like STX or SOL. I think we should focus on what really matters instead of being distracted by other things.

Just like what the others community said that its hard to know in which crypto are good to hold this bull season fpr us to get sure profit. It is because as far as I can see there are a lot of this coin are actual has the capacity to give profit at this moment.

However, you only just need to implement your own way in terms of doing a research first to find out if it is really has a potential in the future. I am talking about a new coin. But if you are looking for a proven and tested one, well Bitcoin is already best for this matter to hold in the long term of course.
